Has everyones optimisim for the season gone?

Mine has

A bit early to call it a day already.

Hume's transfer was bound to happen anyway, as he just wasn't interested in playing for us any longer.

There you go, Iain.

Enjoy your time at Barnsley as long as you can.

For me, you'll remain one of the better players we've had in the past few years, although your attitude towards your managers was sometimes debatable.

Wonder whether the Tykes are going to place him behind their strikers or directly up front.

After all, he's no real forward.

hume = "best player we've had in the last four years" = league 1.

nothing against him, but for a team just down from the prem as we were, he should never have been more than a squad striker... 1 goal in 4 from your best striker is never going to get you in the premiership.

Actually that really puts things into perspective, but then again our best player is probably Stephen Clemence now, or if he goes maybe even Howard

I was talking more about the point of them saying they were going to stay and then ****ing off

It's in their blood. :giggle:

They'll probably be next.

Quite annoyed by this you know!!

But saying that we cant really expect them to stay!!!

He will never be a legend in my eyes, just a very average battler who will go no higher than the championship!!!

Same feelings for me as news of Stearman. No surprise he's gone - but Barnsley! Will miss the Huuuuuuuuuuuuuume chant everytime he got the ball, at least it got a bit noise in the walkers even if it usually ended in frustration and Hume having a barney with the ref.

Real kick in the teeth this one.

Hume wants to play at a higher level of football.

I'm no expert on the standard of football sub championship level, but tbh, how can it get any worse?

At least there's no mention of the fact that he's moved to 'a bigger club'.

Have to agree with a previous poster though, and it made me laugh. We're flogging off has-beens one season to them and star players the next.

To Barnsley.

Complete joke.

Why is it we're getting rid of players we want to keep, and not the players that we want rid.

Today would have been a happier day had Howard and Oakley buggered off.

Id Like to take this opportunity to thank humey for wearing the shirt and playing with pride and passion unlike many of our players last season, Couldn`t blame you for leaving as your far to good for this league, plus the clown`s we have at the helm here at the walkers! I wish u all the best for next season and hope u do well in scoring charts.

There`s Only One Ian Humeeeeeeee!

And he fooked off to Barnsley

To be fair, Barnsley are a bigger club than us this season, their a league above us, but to be left for Barnsley, it really shows how poor we are right now. :(

I dont know what all the HUUUUUUUUMMMMME! fans have been saying but :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh::scarf:

Your "Could do a job in The Premiership" hero has gone to the mighty powerful outfit of BARNSLEY!! :crylaugh:

The whole football world thinks im right and your wrong, this useless annoying little twerp who cant even get into the Canadian SQUAD is gone at last....thank god almight HE HAS GONE AT LAST!

This is turning into a good day with "Leicester fan" Stearman off for a crazy 1.6 i just wish i knew how much we sold the turd Hume for

Just because a team is in the division above you, does not necessarily make them a bigger club. Would you class Blackpool, Plymouth, Bristol City etc etc as bigger clubs than Leicester or Leeds? Seriously, no.

Higher division yes, bigger club, no chance.

Not suprising to see our best players go it's what happens when you get relegated.

As long as we ship out the poor players as well I will be happy. This looks like its going to be a bit of a rebuilding season. Hopefully Pearson can bring through the right youth players and bring in some new names who will give it their all every game and also have the required quality.

Am I the only one not really that bothered?

Bit dispapointed we've lost a really fighty, hard working player. But realistically he wasn't the quality to take us forward in the long term. Sure he'd have been handy in League One but I'm sure we'll either still have the quality or bring someone in. I mean if Jason Scotland can rip up League One, I'm pretty sure even Elvis Hammond could. ;)

 Strange. I started a thread before this one appeared for you guys and it disappeared. Was on BBC radio Sheffield at lunchtime. He'll be a big miss for you guys. I always thought he looked a decent player.

judas ..said he wanted to stay then says he wants to play at a higher level...stearman is the same...leicester through and through my a rse..........they should not make statements like i want to stay and help the club get back up...i dont wish them well at all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The more I think about this, the more this move epitimises how far we have sunk in four seasons.

It's making me wonder now whether or not Hume ever was really 'that good' at all. I guess it's a case of associating hard work and fight with quality on the pitch. And if you find it difficult to see those two hand in hand, you've got every right to question his abilities at all.

Handy at League 1 I would agree, but promotion pushing material at championship level? Why didn't a so-called 'bigger championship club' come in for him then?

Was not expecting that maybe i should of been expecting it will be interesting to see what happens now and if we bother to replace him or not
