reynard Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 According to Sky sports we have tabled a bid for this guy. Apparently a defender.
Halfsy Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 To those of you who were worried about our recent departures, it looks like Pearson is starting to go about rebuilding the side . . Skysports.com understands Leicester have made a move for Hartlepool's Michael Nelson. Leicester are looking for defensive reinforcements following the recent departures of Richard Stearman and Gareth McAuley and they have lined up a move for Nelson to fill the void. Nelson has established himself as one of the best defenders in the lower leagues and has attracted interest from a host of clubs. Hartelpool took up the option to extend Nelson's contract by a further year after his existing deal expired at the end of the season. Leicester have earmarked Nelson as one of their top targets as they look to win promotion back to the Championship and The Foxes are believed to have tabled a bid for the 28-year-old as they aim to lure the big centre-half to the Walkers Stadium. Hartlepool would be loath to lose Nelson as they seek to build a side capable of winning promotion next season.
Tilley Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Sorry to be ignorant, But, who!? I suppose these are the sort of signings we are going to be getting this summer.

Hitesh Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Haven't heard much about this player :-s Anyone have more information?? Anyone seen him play? Not too much information on Wiki
RowlattsFox Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 I don't know a lot about him but I think he is a big no-nonsence centre back, good in the air and strong in the tackle. I don't jknow whether he'd be a good signing or not but this is the sort signing we need to make this summer imo, players that have played at this level and have desire to improve. Shouldn't cost too much either.

Yes, very true. We do need a centre back or two, Get rid of N'Gotty but just do not bring in bloody Darren Moore & why do Sky Sports announce we've made a bid, I just prefer them announcing the signing like Hume & Stearman yesterday,
MC Prussian Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Introducing to you: the new League One Superstars. This is the kind of player we're now looking at and one we'd really need in the back. No more primaballerinas that are afraid of even touching the ball. Bring back the raw days when football was all about tackling and grinding and smashing each others faces!! He certainly has the profile of a bull and I'm sure he's built like a brick wall! Rompin' Stompin' through League One we go!!
Cal Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 ^ Wow, Billy Kee will look exactly like him in 10 years time.
andyh1884 Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 /68/71/0,,10326~3371368,00.jpg That man looks like a lower-league player. He'll do for me
Monk Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Good, we've long been short of a big ugly centre back ever since Matty Elliot left. Shouldnt be too hard to sign him if we offer him Stears old car.

If your on about his Porsche, Then Jay Smedley has got it Stearz brought a new Range Rover not long back didn't he. But this Nelson guy looks like he'll get stuck in, good enough for me
Babylon Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 "Last season's Player of the Year and joint Players' Player of the Year, Michael has been a dominant force in the heart of Pools' defence since joining the Club in the summer of 2003 and has become one of the most respected players in League One. He made a move to Bury from Bishop Auckland in 2001 having enjoyed a successful trial period and went on to become a fans' favourite at Gigg Lane. On the opening day of the 2003/2004 campaign, Nelson strode forward to blast home a 30-yard blockbuster to give Pools a 4-3 win at Peterborough - he's never looked back since. He is aggressive in the tackle and superb in the air, he was one of Pools' most consistent performers throughout last season, winning numerous man-of-the-match awards for his commanding displays at the heart of defence"

GLC Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 my mates a big fan of his, nothing but high praise, would do well for us
Bryn Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 I trust these kinds of signings more than I trust buying any of the players we're linked with from the Leagues above. Let's go to the best players of these bottom two Leagues, say "You've put the performances in, now here's a crack at the (relatively) big time" and bring them in without busting the bank. Let it take a few years if necessary, but now we've started selling, let's not stop, let's keep the deadwood and big timers moving and bring in players like this IMO.
SamL Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Haven't heard much about him but we could do with someone like him. I'm glad Pearson is starting to look to rebuild the side.
Babylon Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 If you think he's any good Babs, then he must be!!! I haven't got a clue
