SamL Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 West Ham want him? They can have him if it means they stay away from Mattock... West Ham want Ben Thatcher as well. They're not exactly setting the world alight with their transfer targets.
Corky Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 West Ham want Ben Thatcher as well. They're not exactly setting the world alight with their transfer targets. They have just paid £6 million to get rid of Ljungberg. See you later, I'm off to join West Ham
SamL Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 They have just paid £6 million to get rid of Ljungberg.See you later, I'm off to join West Ham Wouldn't it have been cheaper to have sold him? Surely someone would've snapped him up?
Corky Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Wouldn't it have been cheaper to have sold him? Surely someone would've snapped him up? Past his best now and too injury-prone. He was going to stay for the rest of his contract and do nothing, claiming £8.4 million in wages.
DanTheFox07 Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 They have just paid £6 million to get rid of Ljungberg.See you later, I'm off to join West Ham contract was ending by mutual consent so they didnt pay anything to get rid of him.
Corky Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 contract was ending by mutual consent so they didnt pay anything to get rid of him. They said it was £6 million. It must be true, it was in the Daily Mail
Bryn Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 contract was ending by mutual consent so they didnt pay anything to get rid of him. You'd have to be a bit of a plonker to consent to ending a hugely lucrative contract for nothing
Solihullfox Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Wouldn't it have been cheaper to have sold him? Surely someone would've snapped him up? Past his best now and too injury-prone. He was going to stay for the rest of his contract and do nothing, claiming £8.4 million in wages. Wouldn't have been many takers for him with a £75,000 a week wage he was getting from West Ham. West Ham save a fair chunk on a mutually agreed deal of £6 million - he can now be snapped up by some other unsuspecting mug of a chairman, on the cheap !!!!!
Babylon Posted 7 August 2008 Author Posted 7 August 2008 contract was ending by mutual consent so they didnt pay anything to get rid of him. Wrong.
Jay Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 contract was ending by mutual consent so they didnt pay anything to get rid of him. you obviously don't understand the term mutual consent!! it means that BOTH parties are Happy, In Ljunbergs case he could have done nothing and collected all of the money owed plus any bonus and so on like Maybury or Douglas did so West Ham would have to make him an offer to leave his agent would have tried for more and they would have settled in the middle!! either way it would have cost them millions to get rid
DanTheFox07 Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 You'd have to be a bit of a plonker to consent to ending a hugely lucrative contract for nothing not really, if thats the only way he can sign for another club.......

One would have thought it was worth it to keep him though. There's £6 million they'll never see again...

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear
Jon the Hat Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 not really, if thats the only way he can sign for another club....... Where he could earn.... much less money for working??
Tilley Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Football rumours says it's happening. Must be then.
Simi Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 I prefer his brother, bunsen, anyway. I'd prefer his brother Bunsen. Just a month or so late.
The People's Hero Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Unlikely Milky - still, at least you're cribbing from the best.
teblin Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Said this in another thread but he was at the game tonight.
Milky Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Just a month or so late. Unlikely Milky - still, at least you're cribbing from the best. Can't believe someone else dared to touch that!
Nath. Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Well, the last time we signed a 29 year old left back from blackburn rovers, worked out pretty well, nisse Johansson, if bruno berner does a job like he did, i'd be happy.
