The Stig Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 The guy's a legend, some of his comments are hilarious I agree. He's very good, I hope I'm as good as him if / when I get to start my boradcasting careeer.
Unabomber Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 He is really passionate when he is commentating and comes out with some great comments. Much much better than last season.
Bert Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 He interviewed me and Maybes today.
brookfox Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 "that's because your 38 and your legs have gone son"I almost choked when he said that. I know, I didn't even think Powell was on the pitch at the time. I mean, don't pick on one of your own subs ffs!
Thracian Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 He interviewed me and Maybes today. And was at the table next to ours in the Horse and Jockey chatting with random fans as far as I could tell.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 I saw him at Quorn. He's smaller than I thought he'd be. Decent commentator.
Alexikokopops Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 After a ridiculous second half of last season I've recently started listening to Radio Leicester for games again and I have to say after that gash chap (whose name has totally slipped my mind) his Stringer chap is a breath of fresh air. Fantastic.
lavrentis Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 I think Stringer has done a pretty decent job. Him and the other bloke are miles better than Barber
Ultra Posted 30 August 2008 Share Posted 30 August 2008 And was at the table next to ours in the Horse and Jockey chatting with random fans as far as I could tell. I'm sure the sign said Fox and Hounds.. Could you imagine Barber or Bill Anderson drinking with fans before games?
Fox You Forest Posted 31 August 2008 Share Posted 31 August 2008 I know, I didn't even think Powell was on the pitch at the time. I mean, don't pick on one of your own subs ffs! He was talking about one of there full backs.

Thracian Posted 31 August 2008 Share Posted 31 August 2008 I'm sure the sign said Fox and Hounds.. Could you imagine Barber or Bill Anderson drinking with fans before games? I think it said Fox and Hounds when I arrived but Horse and Jockey afterwards! Besides I want4d to keep the place secret so we'd not lose the parking slot ever play there again! :D
maddog Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 Stringer started off well but recently he has made a hell of a lot of basic errors, and ridiculous comments. Including asking David Martin "you must be relieved after the Brighton match to get all 3 points" and making a lot of errors in commentary. The Northampton commentary was the worst of the season, i didn't have a clue what was going on. Shall i ring the moan in and complain Hes still a tiny bit better than Barber but hes slowing slipping down to his level. Anyone else got any recent views on his commentary
Koke Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 Stringer is 10x better than John Barber.
Ultra Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 Not on the evidence of the Northampton game. Didn't he also wrongly tell us, after the match, that Mark Davies had scored twice for Bolton?
Father Ted Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 And the way he went on about how amazing Lloyd's goal was when it really wasn't that amazing.
Koke Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 I thought the build up play was quite frankly a sublime piece of play.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 If he's not Barber, I don't care.
Milky Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 Didn't he also wrongly tell us, after the match, that Mark Davies had scored twice for Bolton? That was Martin Ballard in the studio. Stringer not to blame this time.
hairy Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 I like him. He builds up the tension and gets stupidly excited. Some of his one liners are class.
Ultra Posted 2 February 2009 Share Posted 2 February 2009 Most of the class acts on local radio quickly get snapped up by Radio Five Live or Sky. I fear we may be stuck with Stringer for some time..
RizLCFC Posted 3 February 2009 Share Posted 3 February 2009 Great commentator full of passion, John Barber was terrible, John Sinclair has done a fair job over the years, I loved it when Neville Foulger was the commentator (currently working at Leicester Mercury), but yes pleased with Ian Stringer breath of fresh air. morris1234 Posted 3 February 2009 Share Posted 3 February 2009 hes just polaxed his by-nocu-lars.......... i like him but i find it funny when he waits to see what the other person thinks of a tackle for example and then says completely the opposite.
