Laughing at Leeds Pt.IV

Name and shame those who had the knives out in June.

No that would be childish and there's no point being childish about it

If true I'm underwhelmed. In terms of excitement it's akin to the umpteenth repeat of a tiresome television advert.

And I cannot see anything in his managerial stats to imagine how he'd win the decision.

He's not done a lot of managing anyway but his win ratio at Carlisle (1998/99) was five out of 30 games or 16.66% and in "saving" Southampton three out of 14 or 21.43%.

Wukidoo.

My middle son's a Southampton fan and I doubt his opinion would pass the censors on here, despite the Saints staying up.

But, just like Levein, Kelly, Allen, Megson and Holloway, we'll see. Later if not sooner.

All and sundry would be quoting the stats if Pearson had a 75% win ratio which supported his appointment but seeing as he doesn't, on go the blinkers.

Reading through his 10-year managerial/coaching record I don't get the impression of club's being desperate to hold onto him or of any great achievements it might be worth mentioning.

Enlighten me by all means.

But thus far I'm not impressed.

Building from the back sounds familiar. It's all we've ever done for the last five seasons.
I'll need a bit better than that! :D
I guess that's the basis on which some people would appoint the Yorkshire Ripper as a mentor for a call girls' charity.

Me I like centre-forwards who can show me they score 15+ goals a season.

Goalkeepers who keep a good percentage of clean sheets.

Midfielders who score/create goals.

And managers who win/draw far more matches than they lose.

Statistics aren't the final word. But they do offer a sound first sentence.

Yes we've all seen what endless loanees have done for Leicester but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the attraction for Mandaric.

More jobs for the old boys, more Horsfields, Jarretts and Clapham's to provide the perfect incentive for leaving our emerging youngsters on the side a bit longer.

Southampton harder to beat under Pearson? I know they were bad before but he won just three of his 14 games in charge so they might have been harder to beat but they hardly made a habit of winning.

He also won five out of 30 at Carlisle and lost 12.

You could argue 1000 people deserve a chance but wouldn't it be nice if, just for once, we picked a manager with a record of relevent success and with the sort of philosophy that will take us forward in every way?

Pearson strikes me as more from the same mould as we've had before - build from the back, plenty of muscle, endless loanees and lots of cautious football judging by all the draws he's had and how few victories he musters.

It's so long perhaps fans have forgotten that to achieve anything in football you have to win matches not keep drawing them. Didn't we have enough draws under Levein and Kelly? What are we aiming at now, staying clear of yet another relegation or going up?

Where all this enthusiasm for Pearson has come from I don't know. Cos I can't remember him being mentioned at all when fans jotted down their original preferred options, and a considerable number there were too.

In which case take note - he lost 4 out of 14 at Southampton, hence they stayed up.

That, along with the comments of the Saints fans I've read (obviously I have discarded what your son said) leads me to believe the bloke deserves a chance if he is appointed.

It seems to me that as usual we have already got a queue of people who almost appear to be wanting the bloke to fail. I can see the "I told you so" posts being planned already.

We might as well have kept Holloway than appoint this joker.

Pearson won't last long here.

just shoot me please
not happy..one word sums up this appointment RUBBISH.......i dont think mandaric has a clue or was it a case of who would come to our joke of a club !!!!

We could add some more if we are to be very childish :giggle:

Foxes are too clever for Walsall

Last weekend, Walsall muscled and harried Leeds to distraction and defeat. Last night they came up against opposition of higher quality who also happen to be pretty nifty on the muscling and harrying front.

Walsall could not impose themselves against a team which backed up its quality with hard graft. Leicester looked twice the side Leeds were at Bescot last Saturday and created a string of chances.

Those bits should be posted on Waccoe
