I would assume anyone who thought the song was just a laugh at coppers expense never imagined the horror of the crime

They were ignorant of what took place as they too were 17. It was just a football chant as far as they were concerned but for me, it felt like that was a sign of things to come from the public if I continued with that choice of job.

Yes I can see that. I guess you have to be thick skinned to take that on. Mind you were certainly still at the sharp end of public service and deserve gratitude.

We did get a level of abuse but nothing like the stuff I hear from my police friends.

There's several times where I've been either kicked, spat on, punched, grappled with or all of the above. I even had to fight with some guy trying to nick our satnav from the cab whilst we were in back of the ambulance treating a patient.

I was once held "hostage" having been called to a spurious call to an unconscious male in his own home. I went in and his mother locked me in the room and she was armed with two kitchen knives threatening to "cut me up".

He wasn't unconscious and to this day I don't know what the motive was. It was quite scary. My radio panic button was used several times.

I have a lot of different memories, mostly good, some pretty bad, and many that I can smile about, knowing I did "something".

I am still staggered and appalled that Ambulance crews, Hospital staff and Fire Service crews are subjected to such abuse and violence. Even allowing for druggies and drunks in their stupor it is a disgrace.

'Housebound' benefit cheat caught ziplining in Mexico

A woman who claimed more than £23,000 in benefits, saying she was too ill to go outside, was caught surfing and ziplining in Mexico.

Catherine Wieland, 33, claimed she suffered anxiety so crippling she was housebound but the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) found evidence of her surfing in Cancun and visiting Thorpe Park three times.

Wieland, from Goring-by-Sea, West Sussex, claimed tens of thousands of pounds in Personal Independence Payments (Pip) over more than two years, spending the money on manicures, tanning sessions and trips to a private Harley Street dentist.

Probably has no-remorse whatsoever, as well.

Think her best bet is being self-employment, as she should be a massive red flag to any decent employer..

People like this make me sick. I hope the authorities make serious attempts to recover the debt even if she has to sell off any personal property

Another problem here is news like this encourages people like farage tice and Anderton that this is what all people on benefits are like so benefits must be stopped for the good of the country.

Unfortunately for people like my daughter, people like this piece of scum give those in genuine need a bad name.

They should be jailed and made to pay back the money they "stole".

This sort of rip off annoys me so much. My daughter has to jump through so many hoops to prove her eligibility for her PIP.

I mean, you can, possibly, almost understand why some people might not like the police, without condoning abusing them.

But attacking ambulance crews? Good god some people are beyond understanding.

Well those investigation plans don’t matter anymore now surely, not to sound all Presidential but “..she was hidden amongst 3.8m PiP claimants but we got her….”

& not only did they get her they gave her a 6mth ,suspended for 18mths, prison sentence that will stop anyone else doing it, close the ledger.

As in Britain they'll blame the left for alienating voters, like an unhinged ex girlfriend shaving her hair off and screaming "look what you made me do!".

The rule is, never apologize and never admit a mistake. It's always been a thing but now it has been mainstreamed.

It's some sort of weird exceptionalism. It isn't confined to those in actual power, I've encountered it all my life, especially amongst men.

Literally as we speak the Daily Mail are currently featuring a headline complaining about Labour's policies leading us to a recession on the horizon, without a single mention of Trump, Brexit, or the 14 years of Tory destruction we just went through - ALL things they support and have led us directly to this point. Absolute ****ing scum.

James O'Brien is good on this sort of thing.

If Joe Bloggs had died from a ketamine od would the media be bothered?

An actor from a popular TV comedy series gets headlines.

Sad, really.

Netanyahu. Probably one of the most evil, detestable, disgusting human beings to ever, ever walk the earth. The world will be a much more peaceful place when he finally snuffs it. Sooner the better.
