People are going to have to get used to what Polanski and his party represent sooner or later. Just like Reform, ideologues on either side of the political spectrum are genuinely dangerous to large sections of society and Zack's response is the first genuine slip of the mask to hide this.

The rise of Reform and the Green Party are due to the decline of this country and the complete inability of the main two (three) parties to do anything about it. While we decline views will sadly become more extreme. I share a lot of views with the Greens but also don’t agree with some things that they stand for.

It's partially this but also the dumbing down of political culture and culture in general.

It seems like there are too many political parties now, trying to get on top of each other.

You come across as a real pecker sometimes....just because someone is right leaning doesn't mean they are a flag shagger or vote reform. Why can't you understand that.

I'm right leaning but I'm not interested in painting roundabouts, dicking around with flags up lamposts, protesting about immigration with Tommy Robinson or share any views with that cretin Farage. I've married into a mixed race family, my son isn't ''white british'' - maybe I should deport the lot? Honestly.

Right leaning is different to far right and the things you have mentioned. Reform, Refresh or whatever they are called and Green are all bad news at their extreme ends of the spectrum. Pretty much all countries with happy populations are central in politics, mostly just left or centre, also sometimes just to the right. Leaning either way is not the problem. Extremes are.

I think the issue is magnified and hugely problematic when one of the extremes is allowed to assert that they are centrist with little or no challenge, and the extremity becomes normalised, which is everywhere right now, with the fire being constantly fanned by the majority of our corrupt, agenda-driven press.

The difference is that reform policies are BNP policies. Green party policies are pretty much Norwegian policies.

Normal behaviour...

Yep, I'm reasonably sure that death gets that man off.

Perhaps that's not really a suitable quality for someone in important political office?

Except Norway is propped up almost entirely by its oil wealth and revenue😂.

If you’re making statements like ‘Greens are Norwegian’…could one also say Reform/Conservatives are Polish then?

Happiest countries on earth are the Scandinavian countries.

In general policies that are similar to what Corbyn and now the greens suggest.

Notably less national debt, better health, more equal societies, happier populations.

Smaller GDPs, less multinationals, less of those billionaires that supposedly hold our country together, yet ordinary people have less reasons to be unhappy.

Norway has 3-4 times more billionaires per capita than the UK does.

Is the per capita statistic actually relevant in this case?

Though tbh I'm surprised no one has made the specious argument yet that the Nordic countries are most happy because they're "ethnically homogeneous" or somesuch.

The scale of wealth disparity between highest and lowest, is the important factor.

NB. The Nordic or East Asian model of development, however it is accomplished, may well be the only way forward that doesn't become grossly horrible. People in the UK and otherwise should perhaps consider accordingly.

Only as relevant as the number of billionaires as originally referenced.

I am surprised that you are so supportive of the drill baby drill narrative. But yes it has worked well for Norway.

Then perhaps you misunderstand. Oil is important as a material for manufacture for many things. What is not good, and what the essence of "drill baby drill" is, is using that oil and gas drilled for carbon emitting power generation that is causing and will cause consequences that will screw every single one of us.

I hope that clarifies things.

It does. Norway sells its oil and gas specifically for those purposes. Which is why I am surprised you approve of this economic model.

Perhaps it's drill baby drill sell?

And that's the sole purpose of the system they have?

Put it this way, I don't disapprove of it as much as I disapprove of those who actively use it to condemn the future in the name of their own self interest. The people that buy it have the choice to not use the oil and gas that way.

They do it for the cash.

Do a blinding job of convincing people they aren't a petrostate too.

Not what I meant by that question, selling oil for carbon emission results is the sole purpose of the system they have?

In any case, this line of argument has absolutely zero to do with the fact that the way that the the way the Nordic and some East Asian countries are developing in terms of their energy tech may well be the only way to avoid future disaster. If people want to use some aspects of the "how" as a kind of gotcha to imply they're not examples to follow then fair enough - just be aware that it doesn't mean much in terms of the overall picture, particularly when no better examples are presented alongside.

Fairly sure they do it for the money tbh.
