Brighton & Hove Albion Post Match Thread

Why was Berner subbed? I thought he did ok and does offer more then Cleverely, potential change was to put Berner in CM and Mattock LB, like it worked vs Huddersfield.

Fryatt missed some great chances. I also thought he was VERY selfish today, when he cut inside he had to just pass the ball, I was very annoyed and still am.

Still... Brighton frustrated us and we missed our big man, we gained a point on MK Dons and I hope Millwall fail to win one/both of their game in hand

I'd love to know the story behind why Brighton were borrowing our away kit ...... it's not like their manager wouldn't know what colour we played in is it!!!?

Well their away kit is blue and yellow, with yellow shorts and socks.

Obviously the ref deemed there to be too much blue.

And their third shirt is light blue lol

Did people actually boo?! We're turning into fooking real madrid. Disgraceful.

Heaven forbid that we should expect to beat a team just a point clear of the third division drop zone..

If folk give time and money and time to watch such dross they have EVERY right to express their opinion!

i think it is too easy to put this result down to howards absence... and i hope attendees will confirm that we did adapt reasonably well... it certainly sounded like the result was a combination of brighton's game plan, poor finishing, a good away keeper and the woodwork....

we had enough chances and possession to win - but it was just one of those games....

i think it's quite funny that because we haven't won most people are saying it was because we missed howard, which i'm sure we did, especially given the performance of his replacement.

yet the difference between tonight and saturday, from what people have said is minimal - ie. we were a bit shit - in fact the only difference between the two games, that i can see, is that tonight we hit the woodwork two or three times...such a fine line, really.

once again, the assumptions and reality haven't matched and some fans just can't understand it, and diagnose that something must be wrong.

howard or no howard, dickov or no dickov, we still created enough chances to win tonight as comfortably (scorelinewise) as we did on saturday, but sometimes the ball just doesn't go for you, that's all it is.

pearson ain't gonna rush out and buy a striker just cause of this performance, that's pure silliness, he knows that the players we have are good enough to win this league...then he'll go shopping

Never thought I'd say this but, I agree with you entirely, Daggers and Thracian I think you are both suffering from shock tonight.

Maybe after a good nights sleep you will view the game differently.

Could have been worse pal.....

For instance.....

MK Dons 1-2 Leyton Orient

I might indeed mellow but some things won't change. For instance...

a) The clear evidence of how much we missed Howard and how little evidence their is of a plausible plan B. Neither Fryatt nor Dickov hardly ever held the ball up for runners to break from supporting positions.

b) Our desperate need for another striker to provide genuine back-up to the main two because if Pearson's not no faith in using either Gradel or Chambers in a match like tonight's then I've no idea when they'd be considered right and, as for Dickov/Hayles well, I'm sure they're both quite brilliant, but so far I've missed seeing it.

With all due respect. our expectations in this league are somewhat higher than those of the franchise.

Sweet fucking jesus, the team has had an off day...I am not saying they haven't played shit at other times this season, but give the guys a bloody break.

I despair sometimes with Leicester people I really fucking do.

And im sure historically we have higher expectations than the likes of Hull City,Wigan,Blackburn,Portsmouth,Fulham,Stoke,WBA etc......

we huffed we puffed we had dickov as our main striker nuff said

the game was crying out for chambers to come on & inject some pace not another oldie in hayles

We dont need to BUY a new striker.

We just need to recall the wonder that is DJ from Balckpool.

He's a fcuking machine!!!

DJ THE MACHINE!!!! :scarf:

In exchange, Blackpool can have Dickov back.

On top of that, we'll give them Hayles, too.

Both free of charge.

I didn't think they did that badly, considering that they had to adapt their game quite dramatically given the absence of Howard. It's not as if they didn't have a sniff of goal - they were very unlucky not to score.

It's disappointing that the winning home run has come to an end, but the histrionics from some of the people stood near me were downright bizarre - screaming and swearing and going scarlet in the face. You'd think we were in a League One relegation battle. At least the boo boys waited until the end, instead of giving encouragement to the opposition during the game which was the in thing to do last season

You can knock those who tell Pearson to sort it out - but he sodding well needs to.

Cleverley looks lost in centre mid, his control and passing was ****ing amateurish in the first half adding to the voices crying out for the signing of a decent midfield player. This is his second match on the trot he's been left wanting in midfield. And what of Dyer? Yet another gash performance from him - no ideas, no pace - no point.

The back pair looked like they hardly knew each other at times, lending credence to anyone who said we'd miss Tunchev and needed a decent centre back signed, someone who could be commanding at the back. And I'm sure I remember Gilbert being good once, it seems a long time ago.

What can be said about Dickov that hasn't been said - I wish I knew why we are playing him, he's not had one decent game this season. If our youngsters aren't good enough to be selected and played then we need to sign people: Dickov and Hayles are not the fucking answer.

There are problems in what is left of the squad, they go beyond this one shitty game but tonight highlighted our shortcomings. We have no invention, no vision and no talent...and without Howard we have no one to mix it up and create chances for others. We have no options on the wings, we can't pass and run through the middle and we are excellent at passing back to the keeper.

Wrong to tell Pearson to sort it out?

I don't fucking think so.

Who the fuck else is going to do it?

Cold light of day, it is raining and I am still pissed off.

Thracian and Daggers sum up my views on last nights game so I shall not repeat what they have said.

So looking at the bigger picture;

We are well clear and really should gain automatic promotion from here, not to do so is really inexcusable.

We are the Big Club in this division, we can attract and afford better players than anyone else, just look at our long term loans, four very decent young players, all from Top4 Premier League clubs!

Given our size and our resources, out current top of the league position is no more than par for the course and in terms of what they have achieved this season (from where they started) MK Dons have got us beat hands down!

I would love to see NP use some of the players we have to give us more options going forward, but I expect him to pretty much stick with what we have. Our current team are good enough to get out of this division and no doubt we will simply buy better players when we get to the Championship with a good many of our squad shipped out.

That is the modern way of doing business I suppose. Disappointing really.

At least your lads got a point, as disapointing as it seems. OUR lads got sweet fooook all at bloody Yeovil of all places. Once again we had most of the play but couldn't make it count and just like Saturday our defenders were caught ball watching and let them steal the points. So yeah!... I can appreciate your frustration but you can just imagine ours!

Good Luck from now on! We've got another tough one on Saturday, Peterborough at 'The Pharm'

As they turned up with the wrong kit they should have been made to play the game in their pants.

I think that's bollocks.

Par for the course? Ten points clear? The club was a total mess less than a year ago.

Typical Leicester fan over reaction, to a game we could have won by about 3 goals on another day.

There are a few issues, but every team can have an off day. Lets hope this result is a timely reminder to fans, players and bookies that there is a long way to go yet.

If we hadn't just posted a loss of £14m we would be going out and getting the 3/4 players we need, but we have, so the money isn't there to do that. We have to make do with what we've got, and use it wisely.

Terrible game, 23 quid well spent. Dickov has had it and Dyer is useless. Not sure why the manager didnt bring Gradel on. We had no pace all evening and the only bloke who has some was sat on the bench.

Ah well, 10 clear.

That was primarily due to appalling team management. A competent manager would have kept us up.

We are financially way better off than most in this division, a £14m loss would put many of them out of business!
