Cheltenham Town boss Martin Allen looks set to suffer transfer deadline day misery by being pipped at the post for Leicester midfielder James Wesolowski.

Allen was hoping to conclude a permanent deal for the tough-tackling Australian over the weekend – but that now looks unlikely to happen after another unnamed club entered the race to capture the Foxes midfielder.

Wesolowski made three appearances for the Robins last October before a loan spell at Whaddon Road was cut short after the midfielder suffered a broken ankle against Tranmere Rovers.

Allen was hoping to welcome Wesolowski back to Whaddon Road this morning to complete the final stages of his rehabilitation, but admitted last night that a deal to sign the midfielder permanently was now unlikely to happen.

The manager was unwilling to name the club set to beat Cheltenham to secure Wesolowski's services – although the Western Daily Press understands that Scottish Premier League side Dundee registered an interest in the player towards the end of last week.

Good Luck Weso. I hope he can get a decent run in a team, stay injury free, and he could still forge a decent career.

Dundee don't play in the SPL, they're a division one side. Dundee United, on the other had, are in the SPL. Maybe Levein saw enough of him here to want to give him a chance.

Good luck Jimbo

With United a chance to play some top teams and UEFA Cup football. Not too bad for him.

Too injury prone. Will never get into our eleven in League 1, so he's got no chance with us in the Championship.

Good luck to him wherever he decides to go.

He may replace Willo Flood who has gone to Celtic

Such a shame, combative little player who has been beset by injuries.

Best for all if he moves on, can't see him holding a place down with us.

Good luck Weso, you gave 100 per cent every match you played.

Hope we get a sell on... if he could stay free of injury and give up the pop he might actually make it.

HA! A clause. lol

I thought you just meant I hope we sell him. I was baffled for a few minutes there.:blush:

i like the idea of a loan deal.

if he plays well we either sell him on for a hefty profit or welcome him back with open arms :)

Not too bad, hardly any match practice with the first team here.

Should do him some good, injuries set aside and all.

Well done to a reasonable and potentially bilaterally (sp?) beneficial move.
