Tommy G Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 What are people getting their wife/girlfriend/civil partner/boyfriend for the day? I'm not really a romantic myself, but I am attempting to cook which is a rarity. I think that blokes who say they will cook because it's ''romantic'' actually mean that they don't want to take the missus out as its a rip off on Valentines Day! I think it's all a bit overhyped but thats just my opinion..
Monk Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 Usually hate Valentines but last year we went to Tutenkamun exhibition at the O2 arena and got there by boat. Was quite a nice night out doing something different. Haven't really thought about what I'm going to do this yr yet.
Lamby Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 Last year I saw Cloverfield at the O2 No idea for this year though
The People's Hero Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I think it's good as it means you have an 'excuse' to put time aside. Not that you should need to, but still.
syston_fox Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 Think we're just having a night in and cooking together at her place. We were tempted by booking a table somewhere but wherever you go it's not gonna be 'romantic' or anything because all the tables will be rammed together to fit more people in so it feels like you're sharing a table with random strangers.
The People's Hero Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 Not sure what we're doing yet, although may have missed the boat with booking somewhere. Not really prepared for it this year - new girlfriend out of the blue and all that.
syston_fox Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I'm going to Leicester v Swindon. I offered to get her a ticket for that so she could come with me... she didn't approve! <_<
Koke Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I don't know really. If anyone has any reasonable suggestions, do let me know. If everything fails, I'll cook a meal for two and watch something romantic [MoTD]
Tilley Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I'll go to watch Leicester, then go home, have a takeaway with my family & watch MOTD or something, like every other Saturday.
Alexikokopops Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I think we might be going raving. And they say romance is dead...
Wilkesy Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I will be going to the Leicester game in the day, then meeting her afterwards and going back to mine for a takeaway, bottle of wine and a dvd. Sorted Had to get rid of the parents as well, but that wasn't to difficult seeing as it is their wedding anniversary that day!

Your old man is a genius, two birds with one stone.
Ashley Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 Welcome back Tom, not seen you on here for a while. I'll be doing something not sure what yet
Alexikokopops Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 Wedding anniversary on Valentines Day? How cool is that. Your old man is a genius, two birds with one stone. I thought I'd managed to wrangle it so my anniversary with the missus was the 31st December (we've been seeing each other since the beginning of November, we weren't really sure when we actually started going out) - also her birthday AND New Year. That would've been three birds with one stone. But NOOOOOOO, it's on the 22nd of December. What kind of day is that? Bloody ridiculous, that's what.
lavrentis Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I'm going to Leicester v Swindon. Same here. I hate Valentines day, I said to my gierlfriend, please dont expect anything because I hate it. Nows shes upset with me, what can I do because I'm poor?

purpleronnie Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 Blimey I dont know if to say what I'm doing.....oh well. I'm flying my Girlfriend in from the US first class and we're going to stay at the 5 star Landmark London Hotel in marylebone. I've also booked us tickets to see phantom of the opera on the saturday. Top priced seats too. I've seen the show before but I remember when we were discussing her coming over she mentioned she would love to see a show in london and mentioned she would love to see phantom so hopefully she'll be happy about that, she doesnt know about the 5 star hotel either. Hopefully I'll be in her good books for a while.

purpleronnie Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 I'd say so, pal. I feel like an idiot posting things like that especially during these tough times, but should I feel guilty about it?, I'm spending it on someone else so I guess thats a bit better. I certainly wouldnt have chosen a 5 star hotel if I was staying on my own.

Good on you bud, just remember though, love and good relationships aren't based on money or materialistic things, feelings mean more and are alot stronger, Valentine's day or any other day should mean the same regardless!!

Your intentions are very good and you both should enjoy yourselves!!!
