Thoughts for next season

Unlikely to happen I'm afraid!

By the time Tunchev is fit, Brown will be long gone. Be nice if we could keep either him or Hobbs but there are no obvious reasons why we would be favourites to sign them even if they were available in the summer. Definitely need a center back to partner Tunchev whilst Morrison continues to develop.

Interesting times ahead!

Are you sure - he's here on loan with a view to a permanent position at the end of the season :dunno: Unless he turns out to be shite in the eyes of Pearson I'd say he'll definitely be here.

Tunchev's the one that could be off, I wouldn't be surprised if we haven't signed him on that premise, one season with us and a remaining 2 year contract to be bought by someone else.

I had assumed the "view to a permanent position" quote was the usual horseshit, but if that is really the position, then that is encouraging.

You could also be right about Tunchev, however I hope that the club are playing both ends here, no promotion - sell for a decent profit, promotion - keep him to anchor our defence in the Championship!

As always there will be things going on business wise of which we know nothing but in some ways Tunchev's injury is good for us, out of the 'shop window' for the rest of this season but hopefully fit enough to start next. Hope so anyway!

Brown partnering a fully fit Tunchev will be solid, Morrison as backup, Mattock or Berner on the left and we are three fifths of the way to a decent defense.

I can't see how that would work, if he was wanted by a bigger club why didn't they sign him pre-season? What if he'd turned out crap and now teams have seen him they didn't want to sign him? Why didn't he sign a 1 year contract?

Maybe they wanted to see how he adapts to British football.

If he turned out crap then we'd be stuck with him but there would be a fair chance, crap or not that he'd be good enough for the 3rd and 2nd tiers of football

He didn't sign a 1 year contract because we offered him a 3 year one as that gives us a chance to make a profit on him.

I'm not saying this is fact it's just my cynical view of Mandaric and modern football, particularly agents.

knowitall said somewhere he would stay with us if we were a Championship team next season. Something along those lines.

OH MAXI GRADEL...

Gallagher is class! Always remember him playing against us with Stoke when he was on loan there. Can use both feet and is quick. Think he suffers from being very good championship player but not quite good enough for Premiership! Similar to McSheffrey who I think we could get too next season. Would be two quality attacking signings! Both be a million plus each though! But then again what would you rather have, those two for 2million or a DJ campbell for 2million!! lol

Defensively we should be ok for next season.

More important that we look to improve the midfield.

Another striker definetely needed.

Oh and of course a decent goalkeeper.

Depending on promotion/relegation issues between the championship and the premier league there are certainly some tasty encounters.

Forest, Derby, Coventry look to be certainties.

One or two other midland teams as well - WBA, Wolves, Birmingham, Stoke

Both Sheffield teams

I bet Forest dont think it is a certainty they stop up

I think we need one big topic for all this fantasy. I will be sick of the sight of the name Jermaine Beckford by September.

We've got one and this is where it is.

who do you think we should be looking to buy next season?

i thought maybe

marlon harewood

robbie savage

Rob hulse

jason scotland

Jermaine beckford

So of those five, four are strikers? And Robbie Savage?!?! Is this some sort of wind-up?

In a nutshell, we require - a GK, a backup LB, a centre half, 2 RBs (one of which needs to be Gilbert), a RM player (possibly 2), one central midfielder (assuming Clemence will give a fook next season), and one striker.

Of those you mention, Harewood might be worth a punt. Forget the others.

If we can sign all of the players who are at the club now on loan then I will be a happy bunny. A striker like Harewood would be a sound bit of business but I can't see him coming to the Walkers, maybe Simpson who is on loan at WBA now from Arsenal.

We need a striker like what Hull had in Fraiser Campbell who has a load of strength and pace.

I would love to see us sign 2 of these strikers.

Beckford

Tyson

Cox

Lambert

Wilbraham

Mclean

Dj Campbell, o wait we already have him :P:D:yahoo:

I'd love us to bring in someone like Delfouneso on loan, although I doubt Villa would loan him to championship level.

That sort of player anyway.

Not necessarily, one's out of contract and the other's not ours.

Early wishlist:

Joe Murphy

Simon Cox

Paul Hayes

Three current League One players who, in my opinion, would be good enough to make the step up. Realistic (possibly with the exception of Cox who could be destined for better) for us I think.

Reckon Pearson could be tempted into having another look at Lee Hendrie? He could go Steve Clemence on us this time, but at the right wage he could be a good addition.

I'd like to see us raid Southampton for a couple of youngsters - I'm sure Pearson knows who. Sadly don't think that will extend to Surman.

I reckon QPR could cast away some decent players in the close season as well. Players like Lee Camp (if he cuts his hair!) Akos Buzsaky, Hogan Ephraim (FM star player alert!)

Anyone got a link to a list of out of contract players for the summer - lets face it, thats where our business is going to be done.
