Thoughts for next season

Yes we have, you tool.

The thread was made on 5th Feb, two days after the Walsall game.

Since then, we have drew 4 games & won 0.

You fucking idiot.

All skill no substance cant see 1 decent pass by him in that vid.

Although he is only 6 :D

I'm just disapointed that not once in that clip was another 6 year old coming in with a good boot to the knee to end his young hopes! I'd certainly want us to sign up that kid. (the dirty kid with the raking tackle, not the injured 6 year old with no knees!)

I think we could do very well if we go up,

I think if we back Pearson and his team properly we finally have a competent set-up that could get us challenging in the Championship.

I admit there is alot of work to be done and alot of wheeling and dealing but almost everyone Pearson has brought in so far is quality.

I am astonded by his choice of signings everytime he brings in a new one, he just seems to know what he is doing and have respect from other managers.

The only signing I think that has not been an overwhelming success is Adams, but there is enough to see about him to know he will be quality (potentially imo  ).

I think the biggest threat to LCFC is losing Pearson and his team.

We need to back him throughout the club and show him the love. Also I hope Milan backs him as much as he used to old Harry.

I think Mandaric has come out and said that Pearson has money to spend if/when we go up. Probably use that money to replace the loan signings with players who have had experience in the Championship and are proven in the league.

I know its still "if" rather than "when" we get promoted at the moment, but carnt help but ponder about next season in the Championship, and how this team would get on, and what alterations are needed. Wholesale changes are not what we want, and personally I think we should keep faith with the spine that has done so well this season of, Tunchev--King--Oakley--Fryatt--Howard and build around them.

Hopefully get either Martin or Bunn on a permanent deal. Think we could get Gilbert on board also, and has shown enough to suggest he could hold his own in the Championship. Am I right in thinking we have Brown on a permanent deal if we get promotion ? If so, Brown and Tunchev would be a quality pairing, with Morrison as a decent back up. Think Hobbs is pretty highly regarded at Liverpool, so not much chance of bringing him in.

Could do with another centre mid to play alongside King, a winger to freshen it up with Dyer and Oakley, and another striker to compete with Fryatt and Howard. Job done

Whilst I agree in the main surely Dickov is a total failure

Okay, so I'm jumping the gun and we've only had Brown a couple of matches and we only have him on loan and we'll be playing at a higher level (Yes we will!), but I would  to see that next season. And with Morrison and Kis as able lieutenants.

I'm salivating at the prospect! :chant:

Kisnorbo will leave on a free transfer in the summer IMO

I agree, even if we're a team heading in the right direction now I just can't see him signing another contract.

Would like to see if we can hold on to Hobbs, either by loan or signing, I really rate the guy

Oh yeah!

I'd forgotten about him

Rather like a trauma victiming forgets the cause of their trauma

:crylaugh:

Yeah earlier in the season (1st couple of games) a few people were raving about Hobbs, I didn't see it personally (Not that I though he was bad or anything) but then he has got better and better and I also really rate him, i'd like to see him signed. Along with most of the loanees! lol

Perhaps not the boy Cleaverly though, he looks to weak on the ball. And would get found out pretty quick in the championship

If(when) we do go up, do people feel our strongest back 4 needs any improving? I mean, its the best defence in this league, and, if anyone need reminding:

Mattock - England U21 international, watched apparently by a number of premier league clubs, whatever people think of him he definately HAS potential.

Hobbs - Very highly regarded at Liverpool, a premier league TOP FOUR club, if we could get him on loan here for next season, and I think this is very possible, he could do very well. A number of liverpool fans feel after next season he should be challanging for first team football, another one with massive potential who could do great in the championship.

Tunchev - Class. Need I say anymore?

Gilbert - been a bit dissapointing lately, but he looked like a proper full-back earlier, and looking around alot of the Arsenal forums, once again another TOP FOUR club, a lot of fans feel next season he should be Sagna's understudy.

This, together with back-ups in the likes of Brown(proven ability), Morrison(been impressive this season), Kisnorbo(may stay, wanted by prem clubs last season apparently), and some cover in the full back areas, would anyone change anything?

Defence is one area we are strong IF we can secure Hobbs and Gilbert on season long loans next season, big IF's but can't see why not.

Midfield depends on players like Dyer and Gradel finding form and making the step-up. I think King, Oakley, Berner will be solid championship players next season.

In attack, I can't see why Howard and Fryatt can't do some damage against Championship defences, however, if we really going for the Prem, we will need one or maybe two very good strikers in!

Oh and we need a Keeper!!!!

So not a squad overall needed at all, just 4 or 5 quality purchaces, which I have faith Pearson can do if given the backing by Manderic! I think it's looking good!

I think there are a few positives there at the moment but I am not optomistic if we do go up.

From the Cup games we have had against Championship and Premiership sides I dont see much change from last season. Yes we gave a good account of ourselves in each match (for a League 1 side) but it looked like the previous 4 seasons in the main.

If we spend big we could find ourselves in a right mess again. There has to be a balance and because of that I am not optomistic but then I wasn't about this season. Maybe its just down to me being a miserable bastard.

I have pointed out elsewhere that we shall lose more than half of our matchday squad in the summer, 5 loans, 4 pensioned off, Hendo to Oz and DJ who just wants away.

Massive rebuilding will be in order, with only a fully restored Tunchev nailed on to start. King and Berner look very promising but are unproven at that level and Mattock, Oakley, Howard and Fryatt were all very ordinary last time they played at that level.

To my mind we need 1 possibly 2 keepers, 3/4 defenders, a central midfielder, 2 wide players and at least 1 preferably 2 strikers.

That is a lot of rebuilding and our performance next season will be determined by who we can afford to get in.

It will be a very different team next season and should be very interesting!

I'm drooling at the thought of seeing Brown and The Tunch at the back together.

just mentioned this in another thread and thought i would come post it in here....

its got to be an attackers worst nightmare... that pair together.

Unlikely to happen I'm afraid!

By the time Tunchev is fit, Brown will be long gone. Be nice if we could keep either him or Hobbs but there are no obvious reasons why we would be favourites to sign them even if they were available in the summer. Definitely need a center back to partner Tunchev whilst Morrison continues to develop.

Interesting times ahead!
