Guppy Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 Daily Mirror reports today that Doncaster defender Matthew Mills is close to a move to a bigger club this summer. The former Southampton and Man City player could even get back into the Premier League. Birmingham have been linked with the player for some time, while Wolves, Leicester and Norwich are all looking for new players when the summer comes. Mills (22) operates mostly as a central defender and the England U.21 player has spent numbers weeks on loan at various clubs in the Championship and League 1, before joining Doncaster 100 % this summer. Probably isn't true and probably already been said, but would be a quality addition along with hobbs on a permanent deal, we could have one of the best defences in the division with them 2, tunchev, Berner, Mattock and Gilbert with a couple of back up defenders, like Morrison.
Kilworthfox Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 My early thought is embarrising relegation, however we have not strengthened the side. The only players who are ours & good enough for the Championship to me are: Tunchev Gradel Mattock Powell King Some of the above are dubious IMO, Fryatt, Howard, Dyer, Morrison, Oakley, Chambers, all have something to prove in the championship as their failure last season still stenches.

Joe. Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 Powell? Not sure about that!!! I'd say Mattock and Gradel were questionable in that list too...

JoeyB Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 Fine then: People capeable for the Champ. Milan & his checkbook Fans Nigel Pearson Tunchev Oakley Howard.
brookfox Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Hobbs on a permanent according to the ever reliable, never make stories up for the sake of it, definitely not lazy journalism Daily Star: Leicester have tabled a £400,000 bid for Liverpool defender Jack Hobbs.

Good. His performances of late have been excellent. He has not filled Tunchev's shadow, but has made an impact. IMO a championship player, and he is improving
JoeyB Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 If we get up, maybe a shout at Jason Koumas. Not played much this season has he? or is he injured? And can definitely cut it in the champo.
AjcW Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 I was looking at the championship, premier league and league one today and was thinking whos going were and whos staying put. It appears to me, making purely predictions that newcastle, middlesbrough and west brom will be playing championship football next season. Add to this strong teams that are already in that league and the potential that one or two of either wolves, reading and birmingham will fook it all up the championship looks like a whole different ball game. And with Us, Peterbrough and im going to stick my neck out and say millwall... it looks twice if not three times the division we were in before. Id like this thread to carry on through the close season when we actually find out who goes were but i thought id start it now so we could talk about the fact that there may be a few unexpected and unwanted teams in the championship next season.... oh and by the way anyone who replies with were not there yet can piss of because i dont like negativity.....
norfolkfox222 Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Well Alex Boy we arent there yet!! Altho i am loving the thought of 2 nights out in the North East of England next season

I would have to agre with your predictions of the teams coming down to league 1, when there is no confidence in the team it does not matter how good you are, im talking Newcastle and us last season. I actually think Leeds will go up via playoffs they are the form team at the moment (i.e best of a bad bunch) and i expect them to carry this form on for the last remaiming games. So your right it is already looking an exciting and really strong league (potentially)

I don't think it is possible at all, bt Milan will keep opening his mouth.

We should get more points this year than Swansea last year and they are bchallenging for the play offs.
Ultra Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Fine then:People capable for the Champ. Oakley Howard. Offload the pair of them to Forest. I'm sure Billy Davies (if he stays) will offer a decent price for them.
Raj Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Offload the pair of them to Forest. I'm sure Billy Davies (if he stays) will offer a decent price for them. My lord i garee with Ultra... oakley was ABYSMAL on Sat. Utter SHITE!!! And he's the Capt??? People said he played well V Millwall?? I aint seen the cvnt play well at home all season(maybe onnce or twice!) If he cant command thi shite league,he aint gonna do owt in CChip. If we dont spend good money on quality, young, hungryplayers next season we will be back in LG1. FACT!
C-man Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Oakley is key to how we perform. If he plays well, we play well as a team. If he plays shite, like I heard he did on Saturday, we play shite. If you want to offload him, who do we get in?

If you want to offload him, who do we get in? Oakley's performances are very hit & miss. Against Millwall he did play very well. However a good Oakley performance is unfortunately quite rare. Oakley IMO is too inconsistent to play regularly in the championship, he certainly would not be a star man who would drive the team on from what I have seen of him in a Leicester shirt.

He looked really leggy on saturday and King didn't really get involved enough!! Oakley seems to be the haert beat of the team, we only really function when he does!!!
Lovejoy Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I see anything less than 46 league victories next season will not do . LCFC fans never change I guess.
Corky Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I see anything less than 46 league victories next season will not do . LCFC fans never change I guess. And we should all live in Leicester too
Lovejoy Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 And we should all live in Leicester too Yes we should .
Tilley Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Oakley will not perform in the Championship. Hardly been an inspiring captain this season has he. Too hit and miss to cut it next season in the Championship.
