I have nothing against her personally, she made alot of money for being something I may dislike ( areality tv star)but many did, so good on here!! BUT, what pee's me off is the fact the media have well overhyped her, I couldn't believe the news of the owrld have a 12 page spread of her funeral, for god sake she wasn't a saint!! I think the media and her PR group are to blame and obviously the general public who are interested in her!!! I long for the day when I can open a newspaper not have to read about her!!!

[/quot Pretty much sums up my feelings too. Good on her for making the best of things and she made a fortune out of nothing so fair play. Her Mother is the most hideous woman Ive ever seen and Jade deserves some credit for putting up with her IMO. I just think the public/media reaction to her death has been very hypocritical thats all. Most of them are the same ppl that were calling for her head a few months before!

The broadcaster added it was not the fact that Goody became famous in the first place that bothered him: "What bothers me is that the media first of all recommended we hate Jade Goody. "'A slapper with a face like a pig'; 'the most hated woman in Britain', remember? And shortly thereafter tried to persuade us to celebrate her." Which is true.

Bellend Sebastian Posted 7 April 2009 Posted 7 April 2009 I think the whole thing is fascinating, particularly people's attitude to celebrity, to illness and death and how the publicity industry manipulates these things through the media.I saw the Big Brother thing when it all kicked off and it was one of the most shocking things I've ever seen on telly, as it's not often you get to see someone lose it on that scale live on air, the pig ignorance and sheer vitriol was astonishing - the most extreme career suicide I think I've ever seen. And we've gone from that to her being described in some quarters as 'Britain's brightest star' and 'Saint Jade', and this curious (to me anyway) notion that just because someone's ill or died you shouldn't say negative things about them. How far can this be taken? I exaggerate to make a point, but if Max Clifford took on Ian Huntley as a client, could he ultimately end up on the cover of Hello magazine and feted as Britain's favourite ex school caretaker? Well of course not, but where is the line drawn? Would it help if he had a brain tumour - would it make a difference? Because it shouldn't, although Goody's ultimate misfortune seems to have done her the power of good from a PR point of view. It's a funny old world, innit? If people think it's the first case of a media-related death, then why the fook is that bellend taking bids for a film of her life? She didn't do a lot for cancer. Just because she's famous doesn't mean she's a saint when it comes to promoting the dangers of cancer, people have done far more for charity and they don't get a film about them. En fin, if she gets a film, it practically demerits Brian Clough's achievements.

I seem to get the impression that you can convince a lot of people that someone is important if they get on telly enough and are on the front pages of shitty newspapers - this, in essence, is what Max Clifford's job is, and although he's clearly a bit of a tosser, you can't really blame him for making money out of it. Celebrity is such an empty concept but such a popular one - someone said to me once that they 'really admired' Geri Halliwell. I have absolutely no idea why someone would feel like that, but then again, I've absolutely no idea why those tens of thousands of folk lined the streets for Princess Di's funeral cortege; presumably after years of seeing her simpering face plastered all over the place they had convinced themselves that she was important, without really knowing or caring why. If I try hard enough perhaps I can become such a celebrity. Anyone got Max's number?
