skinnydipper Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Leicester City have made Bristol City goalkeeper Chris Weale their fourth signing of the summer. The 27-year-old has been on City boss Nigel Pearson’s radar for some time and has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Foxes to Pearson’s delight. “Chris is a player who we have monitored and has been on our wish list for quite a while now. He has had limited opportunities at Bristol City and following a successful loan period at Yeovil Town we are delighted to secure his services.” Weale began his career at Yeovil before sealing a move to Bristol City in 2006 and now sees his future at the Walkers Stadium, with Pearson clearly feeling that his new man has what it takes. “Chris is desperate to succeed here at Leicester and we believe he has the ability and the mental strength to do just that.” Chris Weale joins recent signings Jack Hobbs, Wayne Brown and Robbie Neilson in bolstering the ranks at the Walkers Stadium ahead of the forthcoming 2009/10 Coca-Cola Championship campaign.
Collymore Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 it doesn't get anymore exciting than this Welcome to LCFC Chris and good luck!
lcfc89 Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 He won't be first choice good addition though. I'd expect one of the loan keepers still to sign.
Fosse Boy Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Weally good news......i'll get my coat Weale see about that... I'll get mine too...
teblin Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 He won't be first choice good addition though. I'd expect one of the loan keepers still to sign. Not sure, he has been 2nd choice at bristol city for 2 years i'd be suprised if he came here to do the same.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 If I see any more plays on the name "Weale" I think I might flip out and go on some kind of murderous spree.
Raj Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Weale see how good he weally is. A weale good find. Oh weale..only 2 months to go.......
surrifox Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 If I see any more plays on the name "Weale" I think I might flip out and go on some kind of murderous spree. I hope not- that would have the weales falling off of someone's day
Darkzzz_ Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 I just can't believe some of these pathetic name plays. You lot need to grow up! They are just Weale really shocking.
jimmer Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 It weally wasn't much of a surprise after last nights N'gussing game.
SamL Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 A solid signing by the sounds of it. I don't think he's joined to sit on the bench all season. I believe that he'll be given a chance to compete with any other Goalkeepers we bring in, a little like Martin and Henderson were able to at the start of last season.
Red Leicester Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Does this makes the Weales on the optimistic bus go round and round, round and round, round and round? I mean to say, he's Wealey not Martin Fulop.
leicesterseddon Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Should be a decent squad signing. I don't know anything about him though - he could be a contender for the first-team jersey at some stage. Would be a little underwhelmed by that though in all honesty; I mean he's 27 and was loaned out to Yeovil to get games. Oh well, Weale just have to wait and see...
Alf Bentley Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 I've asked my Bristol City mate about him and he really rates him. Reckons that at Bristol he just lost out to Basso through injury and couldn't get in because Basso was an outstanding keeper at Championship level. Bristol also have the Irish U-21 keeper on their books, apparently..
Jonezy Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 We need goalkeepers, so getting a guy Nigel and his people has been watching and like on free, is not the worst thing that could happen. Our squad is coming along nicely.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 If you're going to make a pun on his name at least come up with something more imaginative than replacing "real" or "really". I think its been done to death already. I'm Wealy not Excited by this signing. I Wealy don't think it will be. Weally? Weally good news......i'll get my coat Weale see how good he weally is.A weale good find. Oh weale..only 2 months to go....... I just can't believe some of these pathetic name plays. I think its been done to death already. Weales on the bus! You need to get Weale. Weale never move forward from this position if you coninue to administer verbal Weales to members of the forum. Anyweale, back to the topic: Does anyone know his nationality? Can he play with Kingy for Weales?

Our squad is coming along nicely. Agreed, Bristol fans on 606 seem to rate him aswell, this is a good signing. I wasn't convinced by any of the loan goalkeepers last season so I'm pleased we've got someone else in.
Red Leicester Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 I wasn't convinced by any of the loan goalkeepers last season Martin? Bunn?
jimmer Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Martin?Bunn? Bunn wasn't around for long enough, loved the pen save at Brizzle tho. Would rather have Stockdale over Martin too Happy with this signing think he'll go on to become a real asset, I trust in Nige
