separator Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Chris Evans signs a 3 year deal to present Top Gear...
Wymsey Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Probably one of the better options, as he's quite funny (although he can go over the top at times) like Clarkson.
Frank to be Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Can't stand Evans on the radio 2 breakfast show, he's incredibly irritating and not funny in the slightest. Maybe he'll seem better on TV and when it's not early in the morning but I don't hold out much hope. Poor choice.

Jaspa Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Hamster and Captain Slow out too apparently, so whos going along with this ginger revolution then?
separator Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Evans is probably the best they can get, he's a well known petrol head and isn't that bad tbh. Its an all new line up so Hammond & May have been elbowed as well
Frank to be Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Who would you have preferred on TG then? No idea to be honest. Maybe some up and coming presenter. I can't name any of the top of my head. I just know that I'm not a fan of Evans.
yorkie1999 Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Who would you have preferred on TG then? Rowen Atkinson, Blackadder does top gear.
Wymsey Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Rowen Atkinson, Blackadder does top gear. Good suggestion, and perhaps the Chuckle Brothers as well (to sum the BBC up)?
separator Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Its not just about the main presenter though, part of the appeal of TG was 3 mates dicking about with cars, you need the chemistry between whichever 3 presenters are eventually picked.
Guest Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 I'm alright with Evans, considering some of the names that have been suggested in the news. Wouldn't mind Jason Plato joining Evans. Not sure who the third person should, possibly Tiff Needell? ...if nothing else throw Brian Blessed in the mix.

Guest Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 It's a banker given his appearance on TFI last week. Was thinking that too.
yorkie1999 Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 It will be very strange to watch in future though. Its either going to be a brand new style and format to what we've become accustomed to, and i can't see how the zany style of Chris Evans is going to come across on a car show, or basically a copy of what went before and if that's the case, every time Evans delivers a one liner or a facial expression, viewers will just be comparing him to Clarkson and be thinking he's just trying to copy him. We'll just have to wait and see, but i fear that it will go into decline.
BoneDog Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 I think they should pick Robert Llewellyn, Chris Barrie and Craig Charles. That trio are entertaining when together I know this for a fact. Seen them on carpools, Red Dwarf and something else.
StanSP Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 I don't really have any feeling towards Chris Evans in terms of like or dislike. I know it just won't be the same as when Clarkson, Hammond & May were on the show. They had the chemistry and the controversy, the entertainment factor and they were symbolic faces for the programme. That's what made it great to watch. I can't see Chris Evans having the same affect as they did. Unless they get someone special enough to compensate for him. Not sure who that could be and who would fit the bill.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 I'm just glad something is confirmed now, think Chris Evans is probably a good choice - huge car nut and pretty good TV presenter (if a little grating after a while, probably won't be a problem with 2 co-hosts if it's following the old format). Would like to see Jason Plato co-host, forgot how likeable he was till I saw him on TFI Friday. Guy Martin would be a great third host - top bloke, enthusiastic and could do the all-too-infrequent motorcycle bits. Would love to see the odd bike review/power lap on Top Gear but doubt it'd happen
Fox92 Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 I like Chris Evans. He was an obvious choice imo. I'd like to see May and Hammond stay but I'd understand if it didn't happen. Be interesting to see how it all goes.
yorkie1999 Posted 16 June 2015 Posted 16 June 2015 Just as long as it doesn't turn into a copy of fifth gear, which is how top gear used to be.
