Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 So there won't be any challenges/adventures any more? I know the 3 won't be there, but will Evans & Co not do them either? I guess the new series will follow a similar format so there probably will be bits like this but I can't imagine whoever co-hosts with Evans will have nearly as good chemistry. Clarkson, Hammond and May just works. They're sort of like bickering brothers, who've known each other years. I hope the new series is good but I can't help but think it'll be 3 people thrown together that just don't click. I watched an episode of the US Top Gear and it just felt odd

Very funny and the actors just complemented each other, but when they started bringing others in it just died a death and became unfunny.
Wymsey Posted 28 June 2015 Posted 28 June 2015 Rather have someone like Adrian Chiles presenting it, as I can imagine Evans using the role for his 'comedy' status.

I'm not sure what comedy status means, or why you keep putting stuff in quotation marks in your posts, but isn't the show meant to be funny?

Darkon84 Posted 29 June 2015 Posted 29 June 2015 Oh dear. Please avoid if you are of a squeamish nature or find yourself cringing easily. The Guardian have created their own audition tape for Top Gear, and it's just as self obsessed and pathetic as you might expect. http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/video/2015/jun/29/guardian-audition-top-gear-video
Frank to be Posted 29 June 2015 Posted 29 June 2015 Rumours that itv will basically remake top gear with Clarkson, Hammond and may and put in on at the same time as the BBC new top gear. If that's true it will have to be good. Proper big budget stuff. Could in the end become a better show than it was on the BBC.

There's plenty of rumours saying Netflix will be the ones to get the new show too.
fuchsntf Posted 29 June 2015 Posted 29 June 2015 I like many others, feel uncomfortable with Clarksons character and antics, but the team and formular worked, great program .I without earning their money, have drove quite a few of those dangerous or unique roads, without sponsorship, but without any envy enjoyed fully their special programs. A Itv highjacking of the top gear idea under another guise with Hammond and May, would surely be a hit.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 I just watched last episode with the old presenters... I have to say it is very tired and stale. They just keep doing the same thing with different cars - and I can't belive that people repeatedly keep falling for their "oh dear, this is an inappropriate situation" that has obviously been set-up; as demonstrated by their being the guest speaker at a charity gig of environmentalists. Hopefully new presenters might inject some fresh ideas - but I'm not hopeful.
Babylon Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Everyone knows they have been set up, I thought the second part of it was still quite funny.

Christoph Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Think it has been rumoured that the three will be doing it on netflix? http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/24/jeremy-clarkson-and-his-former-top-gear-presenters-poised-for-new-netflix-car-show-5264418/ Much better on netflix plus they wont need to beep out any swear words.
Carl the Llama Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Netflix Top Gear would be a great shout - they've put some really good shows together recently Loved the massive elephant statue behind James & May in the studio
SystonFox Posted 3 July 2015 Posted 3 July 2015 Watched the last episode last night and thoroughly enjoyed both sections. I know I'll miss it in that format.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 Joey from Friends to present Top Gear. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35490238 Wonder how many "how you doin'?" gags they can get in before they cancel the thing outright.

For the BBC's own sake, they minds well just get Clarkson, May and Hammond back. Can't see it working. Evans yes, but Matt Le Blanc is a weird choice man.
Webbo Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 Whenever I've seen Matt le blanc interviewed he's always seemed pleasant, self deprecating and intelligent. This could well be a masterstroke.
Tuna Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 Have to say Le Blanc is a bit of a game changer for me. I absolutely loathe Chris Evans, but I'm a Friends super addict so I'll be giving it a go. Clarkson and co can **** off for £60 amazon prime thankyou very much. Apparantly last presenter is Eddie Jordan.
potter3 Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 Quite liked him in Episodes. Showed he was up for a bit of self depreciation at least.
filbertstreet Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 always thought le blanc was great in scrabble
The Year Of The Fox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Looking forward to at least sampling the new format. Just gotta remind myself beforehand that it's not and never going to be how it used to be
