Ipswich Away Post Match Thread

Having watched via video stream I thought we played quite well ( I thought we might struggle at places like Ipswich) but we held our own. Still feel we need a quality striker (but who doesn't!)

Overall good point, difficult task on Tuesday at Sheff Utd, would be pleased with another one there but got a feeling we will end up after 3 games with 1 win 1 draw and 1 defeat - hope I'm wrong!!

Win your home games draw away will take that.

watched the game online and don't really remember ipswich having a proper chance.

Good result, not a bad performance, particularly first half.

Would take another point at Sheff Utd, that would constitute a pretty good start to the campaign.

perhaps try starting Waghorn and Adams instead of the bench.

i agree here. i really wish pearson would try a 4-3-3, or perhaps his usual 4-4-2 and fryatt & waghorn upfront. not saying howard is bad but i think fryatt & waghorn combination could work..

I'm pleased with this result either a win or draw at Sheffield United & a win agaisnt Barnsley would set us up for a great start.

Said this morning I'd be happy with the draw although I knew when saying it, I'd be not disappointed but would want to win - Naturally. And yes, I am abit gutted we didn't get the win, think we edged it slightly, think we had the better chances and could have snatched one, but if you said last week we'd have 4 points after 2 games i'd have took it. Didn't really expect to get a draw at Ipswich a few weeks ago tbh, so happy.

And we're 3rd in the table are we? :P

(Not that i'm taking too much notice or getting too excited...I mean Covscum are top, that ain't gonna last very long before there in their yearly relegation battle is it?)

Well done city, good result. Was never going to be any easy game, and i'm happy with a point.

Our defence looked solid as usual, and pretty much stopped them having any decent chances.

Once again a good point away from home :)

Oh and Derby lost to S****horpe :P

Agreed :)

Waghorns similar to Hume and when him and Fryatt got going they looked like they could score against anyone, i'm not knocking Steve, he's good at what he does, but just think we should try Waghorn and Fryatt upfront. Think Fryatt plays better with a little man, maybe try it against Preston in the cup? :dunno:

Everyone would have taken a point prior to the match.

Not to say we went in with a negative attitude going for a point, we tried out best looking at the stream.

Excellent defensive work, i would say Berner played the best once again, who the fook is Joe Mattock :dunno:

4 points from 2 games, im guessing we will still be in the top six.

We are well capable of going to Sheffield and winning though i think, perhaps try starting Waghorn and Adams instead of the bench.

Hopefully the Tunch will be back in action.

Worst case scenario we will have 4 points from 3 games Tuesday night, which isn't that bad considering our first 3 fixtures.

Dare i start the Sheffield United poll now :giggle:

Think i will wait till late tonight :P

This.

:appl:

 :celebrate:

Relatively pleased with that. Watched the second half on the stream, and I thought we edged it to be honest. No clear cut chances, but I thought we put the ball in positions where we could have scored, whereas Ipswich rarely did that. Ipswich are good at home aswel.

Like the look of Weale - didnt have much to do but what he did do he did well. Looks solid. Defence in general looked solid. Even Robbie Neilson who I wasnt so sure about. His long throws a weapon.

seemed like city got poorer after king and waghorn replaced N'guessan and fryatt. perhaps t'was the heat but neither today nor last saturdays performances by king have inspired any confidence.

I disagree, but with the way Howard's throwing his elbows about we might be trying that combination soon anyway.

Gutted.

We owned the first half and could easily have been 2 up. Ipswich started well second half and we settled for a point playing safe.

Decent enough game but we really let it go second half when we could have pressed on for a win.

Really disappointed as Ipswich were chaotic at times and there for the taking.

Give him a chance.

He will be an important player for us this year and if you think not then you'll be eating your words by the end of the season, i'm pretty sure of it

I don't think King's made for this league (or level) yet. He played an important role last season, but he still has too much respect and too little impact on the game and remains anonymous therefore. Could it be that he's just too scared of the Championship?

He's the Championships Frank Lampard though......

A big thanks to whoever spotted the live stream. Nice one. Good point. Looked pretty solid. Sharper up front and we should be OK.

first half, we looked more like a team coming from the prem than just come up - not sayimg we are prem class, but we passed the ball around very nicely and made a good ipswich side look dreadful...

second half, ipswich were the better team but we dealt with everything very comfortably....

plenty of action, but both teams guilty of some shocking balls in the final third, thought wellens made a lot of bad passes for us, and whilst howard won his fair share, they rarely seemed to find another player.

can't say i was too impressed with waghorn, but i don't think he had any support without n'guessan, so hard to say.

5th place, ahead of some decent sides... can't complain.

shame about cov tho :(

A lot of people seem happy with a point, but there were 3 points on offer and we did not go for it. Remain disappointed.

A lack of ambition all round. This is going to be a tough season and turning down the opportunity to go for a win in a game we could well have won is not enough for me.
