stez Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 bbc personally, i think showing compassion is one of the traits that makes us different from the criminals, who, clearly have non.
Katy Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 bbcpersonally, i think showing compassion is one of the traits that makes us different from the criminals, who, clearly have non. I'd like to think he feels just a little bit guilty and humble for being allowed to die in his own country, but he showed none for the 270 innocent people he killed so there's no chance of that.
ozleicester Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Usually i am one of the bleeding heart/do-gooders who is in support of this kind of thing, but, i just dont get this. I am fully surportive of fair trials and sentencing that takes circumstances into account. But he was found guilty of killing nearly 300 people, why would we show any leniency in this case? Does that mean that every murdiddlyurdurer should be let out to die?
Fox96 Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 He's Got 3 months to live - easily enough time to plan a bombing Who's up for building anderson shelters?
Babylon Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Some Scottish minister wanted his 15 minutes in the spot light, he probably got the idea when Biggs got let out. I hope he sees all the celebrations and flower throwing that happened on his returned to Libya, and understands the complete kick in the balls this is to the families of the 270 victims. This is exactly why the sweaty socks need ruling and shouldn't have any power.
James. Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 I don't get this at all. He killed 300 people. How can his release be justified?
blueoveru Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Come on..... the guy could'nt have done this on his own, there are so many unknown ponderables and we will never know about who and whether other arab states were involved. Only the politicians know and they aint gonna say.................because its all about oil and Libya has it in abundance under its sands but without the wherewithall to extract it. sorry to be cynical about it................. but power corrupts
Wycombe Fox Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 I hope he sees all the celebrations and flower throwing that happened on his returned to Libya, and understands the complete kick in the balls this is to the families of the 270 victims. This. Made my stomach turn to see the 'hero's' welcome.
MC Prussian Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Libya is an odd country with an odd president whose tw*ttish sons make headlines every once in a while. They've recently released some Swiss citizens kept hostage in exchange for quite a bit of money (a few millions it is said). Unfortunately, they do deliver the goods - black gold. So, my guess is there's been some political pressure involved, as well. Including some concessions in terms of oil.
AmericanScott Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 I don't give a toss if the twat has some sort of cancer. He should've been left to rot and die in his jail cell. I feel sick that the Scottish government actually allowed this! Come here and kill 270 people in a terrorist attack. Home sick? Awwww diddums you can go home. Read this on CNN: "Three, let's cut through all this information. He's being released because big business in the United States, Great Britain want the oil in Libya, and that's what's driving this whole wagon," There's some food for thought :\

James. Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 A lot of people seem to think the chap was innocent.
Dr The Singh Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 A lot of people seem to think the chap was innocent. I have watched a documentary on the lockerbie bombing a while back and there are those that believe it was a conspiracy and that the chap was just a scape goat!!
Fox92 Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Disgraceful it really is, only the United Kingdom (or whoever) would have let him out. America and other countries would have had him killed on the deathrow anyway, something I wish this country had. He is a dying man so they let him out. What about all those people he killed?
MPH Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 I'd like to think he feels just a little bit guilty and humble for being allowed to die in his own country, but he showed none for the 270 innocent people he killed so there's no chance of that. And the thing i find most annoying is by releasing him early we have not only NOT done a good thing we have stoked the fires of terrorism and hatred towards the UK - he was greeted liked Hero returning back at the airport with Libyan flags being waved all over the place.... Yeah great move, scottish government...

Jon the Hat Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 I have watched a documentary on the lockerbie bombing a while back and there are those that believe it was a conspiracy and that the chap was just a scape goat!! May well be the case, but that was a case for the appeal hearing. He was a convicted murderer of 270 people and hence should not have been released full stop. Completely ddifferent league to Biggs, that said he should not have been released either.

His health seems to be improving daily

I agree Jon, my point was that there were people on the documentary that believed he was a scape goat, as far as i'm concerned, he was convicted so he should see out his sentence, until he is proven innocent, if he is ofcourse!!
Benji Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 The welcoming he received was quite unbelievable. Things like this just leave me lost for words and completely enraged.
Aleksz Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Sorry im young, What was the lockerbie bombings? never heard of that one?
Budweiser Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Sorry im young, What was the lockerbie bombings? never heard of that one? Same. But Im pretty sure its when some bastards from Libiya (sp) blew up an American Plane near/in Scotland killing 270 people. Please correct me if wrong. This guy is an absolute bastard. If I was one of the relatives who were blown up in this I would go insane. What a fooking joke aye?
MC Prussian Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Sorry im young, What was the lockerbie bombings? never heard of that one? 1988: PanAm airplane exploding over the South-West of Scotland. Bomb planted by Libyan terrorists as a sign of revenge against the American government. Plane explodes, debris falls from the sky, hitting the small Scottish town of Lockerbie. 259 people on board die instantly, and 11 people from Lockerbie die from the explosions caused by the debris falling from the sky.
Guest nathan. Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 For each person this scumbag killed he served 2 weeks in jail. fooking disgrace!!
Guest Posted 21 August 2009 Posted 21 August 2009 Looking on the brightside, the UK taxpayer is no longer paying for his upkeep in prison, and also no longer paying for his medical care!
