Fryatt to Hull

I still think Dickov can play a massive part in our play off push.

Losing Fryatt won't hurt us at all.

Now you are talking shit, I'm all for everyone having opinions, and I'm not one for abusing people when I don't have the same opinion but someone ban this cunt.

I can't see this being a good move for any party to be honest.

So far as Hull are concerned, Fryatt has never been prolific at Championship level and as such represents a big risk for £4 million. If Fryatt is signed, flops and Hull struggle in the league then questions about Brown's abilities as a Premiership manager are only going to grow even louder than they already are.

So far as Fryatt is concerned, there's every chance ourselves and Hull could be in the same division next season. We could even be in a higher division than them next season if things go very well. Also, even if Hull do stay up and we don't get promoted, is he guaranteed a start in the Premiership? Would he score enough to justify his place or would he become another Nugent or Healy? This move could damage his career, especially when you consider how highly thought of he is here.

So far as we are concerned, the sale of Fryatt would show the club has no ambition and disillusion the fans, not to mention putting off players from coming here. That would make the replacement of Fryatt less likely, even with a hefty transfer kitty. We would start to look toothless up front and would probably struggle in this league. The last thing anyone wants is for us to become another Coventry, perennial strugglers in a half-empty stadium where the fans have no hope of the club progressing.

I can't help thinking this is lazy journalism because Hull are struggling to attract Premiership talent to the club and Fryatt had a brilliant season last year and is showing signs of repeating the feat this term. It sounds like the papers have put two and two together and made five because I strongly doubt this transfer is happening.

If Fryatt is a longterm part of Pearson's plans (which frankly seem to be working pretty well at the moment) then selling him would not a particularily sensible move. Whether you like him or not, the team package works well at the moment. De-stablising the team because Hull want to panic buy will mean that any players we bring in to replace him will likely be rushed and there's no guarantees we're going to get anyone better this close to the transfer window closing.

Better the devil you know, especially if he's your top scorer.

Exactly what part of what I said was rubbish?

That we need Fryatt? We do.

That the line up of alternatives isn't going to worry other teams? It won't.

You even said he was proving you wrong and scoring this season and that his goal yesterday was pure class. Even if Gallagher is good and playing well, him on his own with one of either Howard, Dickov or Campbell up front is simply not good enough at this level... we need Fryatt.

Rubbish what part???? Think about it? Campbell hasn't even got a squad number and won't play for us again. Not the first team. We have striker wise, Howard, Gallacher, Dickov and N'Guessan who can play up front and possibly Kergormant?

Howard can score goals at this level and so can Gallacher ask Plymouth fans what they think of him. He could have had one yesterday there keeper made a great save from him. They both can score goals at this level.

I don't want him sold but I do not believe he is the b all and end all. 4 million , if true is good business however, as I said Nigel Pearson will not sell, unless Mandaric insists on it?

We will see. Newspaper specualtion?

It probably won't work for Fryatt but he may want to go anyway for the kudos of being a Premier League player plus the extra money :dunno:

It will probably be ended in tomorrows moan in when someone says he will definitely not be going and we can all get on with beating Preston then Newcastle.

That's my point though. He wouldn't be a Premiership player for too long if Hull go down, which isn't exactly a long shot. Even if they do stay up, would he really get goals and games in the Premiership against the likes of Man United and Chelsea? I'm sure Nugent and Healy would be able to tell him the flipside of moving from a Championship club where you're adored to a Premiership club where you're left to rot in the stiffs.

If you're Matty, sat at home right now thinking about it all - you know your not the best footballer on earth and this may hurt the long term career........ but this is maybe the one shot playing in the premiership, to leave the club not under a cloud but them gaining 4 million quid - the one chance maybe to score a goal at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge in the the big league..... it's tough doing the sensible things when opportunities that might be once in a life time come a knocking. Tough call. Good luck choosing Matty, if you have the choice.

Frankly, I wonder whether the people who are saying sell him for 4 million have an ounce of footballing tact!

We don't need the money, he's on form and as we've seen with th eongoing striker fiasco, theres noone available who we're willing to sign. It makes no sence other than financial to be selling him. Even then the financial sense could be misleading as if we kept him and we got promoted thanks to his goals then we'd be cashing in, in other ways.

Lets say he did go for 4 million, around %25 of that will go to Wallsall leaving 3 million. Who are we going to get for that money?! noone that I can think of that wouldnt want silly wages anyhow.

Right.

People saying he is absolutely on form etc.. Is he?? He has scored 2 goals in the league this season, one of them being a total fluke (the other quality admittedly) but lets face it, he still isn't proven at this level, and £4mil for someone who won't guarantee you goals at this level is almost a must sell I think.

People are also forgetting that no actual bid has been made and its all paper talk so far, unbelievable it gets this sort of talk because i'm 90% sure a bid won't be made.

Lots being said about do we or dont we want to sell him. What about Fryatt having his head turned thinking he can play in the premiership, up his wages ect. Then him saying he wants to, hands in a transfer request and put the club in a postion where they have no choice but to sell him!!

Player power happens to much nowadays, look at Lescott - didnt want to sell him but I would expect him to go this week.

Fryatt may choose to do the same to us!

While I can see where you're coming from, remember that he is still young at 23 and probably has another 10 years left in him, other opportunities and possibly better opportunities than this will come his way if he keeps improving.

He's at a Championship club that has realistic aspirations of making a Premiership return within the lifespan of the contract he signed in December, and if he were still here if and when we make a Premiership return he can honestly say that he has played for us at every level. That would make him one hell of a big name in the City annals. He may well be tempted to play in the Premiership now and I can't say I blame him, but with all due respect Hull aren't exactly a world-famous name in football.

While it would be tempting for him to grab at this opportunity, he would be well advised to wait for a better one than this. It's too soon for the lad and not actually a great way in the Premiership. Wait until you go up with City, or sign for a bigger and better club than either ourselves or Hull.

in all honesty i have no worried about any of the squad leaving because NP has been sublime in the transfer market and wll bring in a great replacement i am sure of that.

Mattock didn't think that; this might be his one and only chance to play in the Premier and grab himself a fortune to boot. Even if they came down he'd still be no worse off playing wise. There's also no guarantee that should we get promoted we'd stick with him.

If Hull get relagated to the championship he'll be no worse off than he is now and he'll have more money in the bank. Plus there's just a chance that his goals could keep them up. Personally I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to go.

Why would any team with ambition sell one of their best players unless they were desperate for the cash? I wouldn't have though we were in a position where we had to sell.

£4 million does sound a lot at the moment, but if Fryatt continues to improve as much as he has over the last year or so then that valuation may end up seeming low, particulary if his goals helped fire us to the Premier League.

With things starting off so well, this sort of disruption is the last thing we need. Hopefully, Babylon is responsible for this rumour!

agreed. must keep him.

an absolute must.

Hull fan on another forum said that if this is true it wouldn't be anywhere near £4m but would probably include Caleb Folan as part of it

Apparently Phil Brown was at the Swansea game. Imagine how far this'd have gotten if we knew that then?

Yeah, and he was shit that day. Hopefully Brown didnt know he was only half fit! This rumour is probably bullshit, may even have been started on a Hull forum like this one. Babylon showed how lazy newspaper transfer talk is!!! Even if its true, he wouldn't be stupid enough to go. He doesn't strike me as a stupid player e.g. DJ who will move for the money/fame/etc. He would think about it, realise he probably wouldn't get much match time (something he needs to hit form as we saw last year), he'll know already that Phil Brown is 5% of the manager that Pearson is and will not coach and nurture him into a better player and thirdly cos theres half a chance we could replace them in the premier next season.

Somebody close the thread and end this bullshit now! (I will streak across St James Park next week if this actually happens!!)
