MC Prussian Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 It wasn't meant to happen. Main points: Defense again solid, apart from ONE mistake that cost us dearly. Gallagher was too much of a threat in the first half and why he was taken off, I don't know. Fryatt to harmless, selfish. Wasting a big chance and not even acknowleding the presence of his teammates. At this point, with this form and attitude, I'd rather sell him than keeping him with his head somewhere else. Silly fouls in the second, loss of concentration. And most of all - no drive forward in open play that resulted in good chances. I can only hope we win our home games.
ousefox Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Not a bad performance.....we should have taken our chances
purpleronnie Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 I dont think many fans expected anything sounded dull as, dissapointing but hey ho.
DB11 Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Ah well - same as last time in the Championship; we need more quality crosses / balls into the box.
manchester_foxes_fan Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 poor from Leicester i think wellens and Howard played well, neilson was awful
shen Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 We look a half decent side. Quite solid at the back, but we were quite toothless up front to be honest. That said, we probably won't be up against a better defense all season...
blueincornwall Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Needed to stike while the iron was hot in the first halve... Never mind, we were not over run by a top team favourites for a reason. I still think that a trip to wembley may be on the cards next year! Come on City
Webbo Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Fair result. We were slightly better 1st half, they were massively better in the 2nd half. Anyone of their team would walk into ours, in the end we did well to keep it to 1-0.
Daggers Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Good effort, poor finish - demonstrated where we need to improve in order to seriously consider ourselves a team to challenge the top. Well done Newcastle - deserved the points, if nothing but for Smith's performance.
Jackirius Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Alot of chances, overall they were probably the better team but they were defiantly better in second half.. Few chances we should have taken in first half especially. But hats off to newcastle, they played well, very impressed with ranger and smith for them.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Not a bad performance.....we should have taken our chances Disagree. Shocking second half performance and Nguessan was absolute cack. They were there for the taking tonight.
Benji Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Game of two halfs for us 1st half immense, looked a top 6 championship team 2nd half embarrassing, clueless at times. Deserved a draw but there you go.
Cropwellfox Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Two opportunities for players with the ball in a bit of space inside the area. Guthrie nailed it, Fryatt screwed it past the post. Small margins, but overall they had a bit more quality today and once in front didn't look like we were going to score if we had all night to try.
flanimal Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 First half, I think we edged it. Second half was poor, I can barely remember one shot. The delivery was terrible, and everything was one dimensional. Passing in the final part of the pitch was awful. Newcastle closed down better, and Leicester never looked a threat. Adequate performance, fair outcome, but if we'd been more decisive we could've had them.
Mort Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Something of a cliché but their quality showed and we aren’t in a position to match that, though we could of got something out of this if we had been just a bit luckier and managed to support Howard a bit more... McSheffrey’s available for 500k Then again from listening to the Sky commentator it was a terrific win for a Newcastle ravaged by injuries and uncertainty.
martyn Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 That game is a fair representation of where we are. It was an even game generally and I don't think we should be too critical even though we visibly ran out of ideas second half.
shen Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 poor from Leicester i thinkwellens and Howard played well, neilson was awful Neilson wasn't that bad really. N'Guessan can't complain that he didn't get any support this time around any way.
Darkzzz_ Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 We can certainly pass the ball around but we look scared when we get to the final third. Not that annoyed, it could have been worse. Alan Smith was top draw for them tonight.
Smiffy Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 poor from Leicester i thinkwellens and Howard played well, neilson was awful First time I've seen him. Is he always as bad as he was tonight? Distribution was off, no sense of positioning, and throws were useless since they had no power. Don't think the rest of the team looked that bad. Newcastle took their chances and we didn't.
Scaramanga! Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 We looked shocking. No closing down Strikers with the blinkers on Gallagher got nothing on the wing, fair play to him for coming into the centre to get involved Ranger has Hobbs' pants down too much N'Guessan looked knackered from half time and he brought Adams on in stoppage time We looked poor, we need to buck the ideas up for blackpool.
General Smuts Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 With how close this game is at the moment, first goal wins. I hate being right Good effort, poor finish - demonstrated where we need to improve in order to seriously consider ourselves a team to challenge the top.Well done Newcastle - deserved the points, if nothing but for Smith's performance. Spot on. Smith was excellent today. Howard needed Fryatt and Waghorn on form today. Neither was.
Daggers Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 I'm really impressed with a number of the comments here - obviously most of the stupid kids are still in the pub/bus shelter/serving ASBOs prohibiting use of the internet.
Corky Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Frustrated. We played well in the first half, restricted them and created a few chances of our own. Second though, they took control and we put in some poor crosses, never threatened.
dogadug Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 Good performance first half But second half we were terible, whenever we got into the last 3rd, we just gave the ball away, or lacked quality with our crosses Neilsson and N'guessan were terrible
davieG Posted 31 August 2009 Posted 31 August 2009 It was our 1st half - Fryatt didn't take his chance. Their second half they took their chance. Equal number of attempts, equal number on target. We had our 'best' attacking force out they didn't.
