Give him a chance. Had he scored the winner on saturday he'd be everyone's hero, I'll judge him on what he does in the games he plays, if he earned his way back into the team, he deserves some respect.

But he didn't score the winner on Saturday, and it was on a plate.

He gets a 'NO' from me for what he has said, what he hasn't done in the past (score goals) and for fooking up on Saturday.

But, if NFP thinks he is good enough for the bench then I'll have to accept that.

Begrudgingly

So none of our other strikers miss sitters?

Not to the extent that Dudley has done in the past and so based on that I believe that what happened on Saturday was not a case of lack of match fitness, it was a case of him being a poor striker.

If I am proved wrong then that will be a positive for the club but I'd much sooner we sold the bugger and bought somebody else in whose salary was in line with the rest of the squad.

I don't blame him for the salary that he is on, I don't blame him for not taking a drop in salary and leaving the club.

I just want him to leave, exactly the same as I wanted Henderson, Kisnorno and Hume gone.

Some players just don't belong

I would like to compare shots to goals ratios for all our fowards and see who misses more lol

Point is he isnt going to leave as hes on a massive wage and not featuring. Id just rather be using him than paying him over 20k a week to sit rocking on his heels.

Unfortunately I think we'll be paying him 20k a week to sit on the bench and then miss the chances he's given.

And when he gets more and more impatient and wants to prove himself he'll be offside again.

But if he does score goals (and lots of them) then I'll be happy as the club will improve.

Fryatt's missed some absolute sitters and seems to have replaced DJ in the off-side stakes in this League, I reckon he was flagged for off-side at least 4 times in the first half hour on Saturday.

Maybe defenders are better at playing the off side rule in this division or perhaps it's because Fryatt has got just that bit faster :dunno:

Yes. I haven't been his biggest fan, but he has never been given a consistent run in the team to prove himself, I'd like to see him to see him as a sub at least for a few games.

Just nice to have competition up front again and all the strikers look good.

Competition has been a huge lacking point at this club in the last few years and NP has brought competition between the players :worship:

quite simply there is only any point in playing DJ if you play to his strengths - passing through the middle and sliding balls through to a quick striker may work - the long ball game will not work with DJ

And Fryatt, and Gallagher, and Waghorn!

And if we had the balls to play them in forward positions, quite probably Dyer, Gradel and N'Guessan too.

Hoof.... :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

DJ Campbell has apologised to Leicester City's fans and says he wants a fresh start.

The £2 million striker's future at the club looked bleak when he was sent out on loan last season to Blackpool.

Campbell was quoted as saying he did not want to return to City and would rather be anywhere else – something he insists was taken out of proportion.

He had not featured in a City squad for 10 months until boss Nigel Pearson included him at Coventry City last weekend, where he went on as a substitute.

Now, Campbell insists he wants to help City reach the Premier League and hopes the fans will back him.

At City's golf day at Kilworth Springs yesterday, which marked the start of the 125th centenary celebrations, Campbell said: "All I said was that I had no future at Leicester.

"I didn't say I didn't want to come back and I didn't criticise the gaffer, the staff or the club. I didn't say that at all.

"I hold my hands up and admit I did say I didn't have a future at Leicester. That is how I felt at the time. As everyone knows, things weren't working out for me.

"A lot people took what I said out of proportion. I know it is not great for the fans and I have read a lot of things the fans have said. It wasn't what I said. I apologise but that is all I can do. I have no hard feelings against the fans and I hope they don't have any against me.

"I hope the fans respect how hard I have worked, because I have worked hard over the last four months to get back into the squad."

Campbell paid tribute to Pearson for giving him the chance and believes he still has a future at the club. "I spoke to the gaffer numerous times to discuss things and everything is fine now," he said.

"I have nothing but praise for the gaffer because he has kept me level-headed. He has always said he wants me involved and finally I am.

"Now I want to score the goals I am capable of and get Leicester into the Premiership, which is what I came here to do.

"It does feel like a fresh start. I want to give my all to Leicester. I am happy to be here."

About bloody time too!!

I'll be honest and say that I was one of those people who criticised him for what he said but I don't know the full story.

But I'll be happy to see him come back as a proper member of the team (after impressing in reserves consistently) and help us on our way upwards :).

It sounds like he's genuinely sorry too for whatever he said. But whatever he did say sounds like it was taken out of proportion. Of course though, don't know the full extent of what he said or what was reported.

I'm glad a little more of the DJ saga has come to light. No-one was really prepared to listen to what DJ said, and as he said, things got blown out of proportion. He's apologised now, (Although, I wonder how many of the people who said they'll forgive him if he apologises, actually do?) said he wants to be here, and is working hard to get himself fit and into the squads, and to me he actually sounds genuine. If Pearson thinks he's good enough to have in the matchday squad, then that's good enough for me.

I know some people will still hold a grudge against DJ, and that's entirely up to them but now, he's done all that he can, so lets just get behind like we do everyone else when he's on the pitch. You don't have to like him as a person, just support him when he's playing for our club.

If he manages to turn his career around here, then I think he could be a great asset to the squad.

Pearson obviously knows best how to handle situations like this - and as you say if he's proved himself, then there's no point letting him rot in reserves.

DJ sounds genuine to me, and when he's in Leicester colours I'll support him just like I do any player.

Agreed, it's alittle short of an apology which alot of people wanted, but as you've stated, unless the whole facts are known, it's hard to judge!!

He's made it clear he wants to be here and he wants to play, and has given praise to NP for his chance, let's hope us fans will do the same and give the lad a chance also!!

thats good enough for me. welcome back, dj

although as far as i am concerned he wouldnt walk straight back into the team. I wouldnt drop Fryatt and as of right now i wouldnt play without a target man. I'd keep slinging him in off the bench for a few games.

Having said that Waghorn hasnt done anything wrong to see his chances diminished for cameo roles..

it wasn't that he said he had no future its that he was quoted as saying "I don't want to go back to Leicester, anything but that"

still I said if he apologised I'd welcome him back, he has and I do, but that doesn't mean I have to like the guy, but I won't boo or heckle him either

Posted

Well, he's given his side of the story, he's apologised, it seems he wants a future here and to play a part, so fair enough.

He's another option to have.

For all we know, that quote could have just been a journalistic twist of his original comment.

Gallager is going to be a right misery guts then.

does this mean he is even further down the pecking order for a starting place up front?

i think i would still prefer to see Waggy coming on off the bench ahead of DJ Both have pace but Waggy has that little bit of trickery about him..

He didn't say it in a tv interview, but he definitely said it.

Are you Flanimal in disguise? :P

I can't believe people got there knickers in a twist in the first place. Such a petty saga.

Anyway glad to hear him finally speak and it seems as exactly as I thought. He said the comments were taken out of proportion when he had no future at Leicester. It's not rocket science your bound to say you have no future when you have been kicked out the door.

I just hope the fans give him time to settle back in the squad as he has been away from the first team for so long and rid any unnecessary pressure.

Feed the dj and he will score

Hey, he ain't no Flanimal. It takes years of banging one's head against a frying pan and sniffing glue fumes to get to my level.

Have you actually done that though or did you just see it on You Tube? :D
