Heskey Considers Future at Villa

He's considering his future at Villa as he wants to play regularly to make sure he gets a place in Capello's World Cup Squad.

Emile Heskey will consider leaving Aston Villa in the January transfer window as he looks to secure a place in England's 2010 World Cup finals squad.

The 31-year-old has started only one Premier League match this season.

England coach Fabio Capello appears to favour Heskey but the striker still fears for his place in South Africa.

"I will have to sit down and think about my next move," he said. "I don't know whether I can get a World Cup place if I'm not playing for Villa."

Heskey played in the 1-0 defeat in Ukraine on Saturday and has started six of England's nine World Cup qualifiers in the current campaign.

"I'm happy to be playing for England and, obviously, not playing at club level is difficult," he stated.

"It's something I will have to look at when I get back and try to address it."

The former Liverpool striker joined Aston Villa from Wigan for £3.5m in January, linking up again with manager Martin O'Neill after a previous spell together at Leicester City.

Heskey has won 57 England caps since making his debut against Hungary in 1999.

IF he does leave in January, who do you think might replace him and where might he go?

Throwing it out there as I'm sure it's on some of your minds, but would you want him come to Leicester?

Will England's number 9 go to a mid table Championship team to cement his world cup place. I say probably not. If it's a hypothetical question then yes, obviously. But no chance. Not a fan of bringing players back but this is an exeption.

If he plays every other game on average for Villa this season then that could be brilliant for England, fitter than 99% of players at the competition. I think he'll stay but if he moves...back to Wigan? Sunderland? They'd be my guesses.

He'll go to another Premiership side, possibly Sunderland, maybe Fulham or West Ham even.

He won't come back to us when he's got an England future. After that stage, maybe, wouldn't rule it out.

lol

He's not going to join a Championship club in order to keep his England place. Somebody in the Premiership would snap him up, even if just on loan for a bit. He's still a valuable player, despite what a lot of people may think.

no chance of that happening. He want's to leave to have a chance at the Eng squad! that wouldn't happen at Leicester.

Although that Gutierrez (sp?) who plays for Newcastle is still a regular in the Argentina side

Think Pomey should go for him, they have money now and they need a Crouch replacement.

I woluld want him in the suad anyway even if he stays at Villa, adds a whole new dimension, but then who else is picked form Crouch and Cole in the squad?

Might be a decent shout in terms of Pompey going from him, or maybe a return to Wigan? Other option is re-joining Steve Bruce at Sunderland, but like at Villa, I don't know if he would be guarenteed a place in their starting eleven.

He knows it is his last chance to play in a World Cup next summer, so will do all he can I suppose. No one can blame him for leaving.... maybe a loan move to where he belongs is on the cards!

Leicester hinted at a winter spending and now Emile wants to leave Villa :o

Sign him up :scarf:

No but, I think it would do him good leaving Villa, he hardly plays I rekon.

Is it sad that as soon as I saw it on the back of the papers I was like 'Come home Heskey' >_>

We all did :P. Well, not all. But I bet some of us thought it a little :P

I think we've got enough cover with Tunchev, Brown, Morrison and Hobbs. No need for Bruno.

yes. i'd personally didn't believe one jot of it because i saw it on the back of the metro. but now its with several brilliantly truthful papers it's got to be happening.
