maddog Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 I want us back in the Prem , from 96 - 2000 i was being brought up on winning at Anfield fairly often along with wins at Stamford bridge and Old trafford and actually having a leg to stand on when having a debate with a few of the glory hunting mates / associates i have .Those days will live with me forever and i wish id maybe appriciated them a bit more at the time , i suppose i thought we would be winning trophies on a regular basis for years Chelsea was absolutely breath taking. To lead 1-0 and 3-2 against them was incredible. Shame to lose it, but TBH i think losing it 4-3 makes it even more memorable than if we had won it.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Shame to lose it, but TBH i think losing it 4-3 makes it even more memorable than if we had won it. It sounds ridiculous but I think I agree. I wouldn't change anything that happened on that night even though we lost.
Tommeh Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 Couldn't make Fulham sadly, think I was working.Chelsea was enjoyable too, cracking match to watch, but Orient has to edge it just for the fact that we grabbed a late double salvo to win the game, the stewards had a bit of comon sense about them (and were friendly too!), and I just generally enjoyed the whole day more. Orient last year was different gravy, Millwall too. Never EVER had a bad one in London and that includes the 3-0 defeat at Loftus Road on NYD '08. Using the Chelsea game as an argument for us wanting to be back in the prem is pretty pointless, we had an allocation of 6,500 took over the whole Shed end, and had some real faces out aswell as a few pot hunters. A league game there would see us get an absolute maximum of half that and even then it'd probably fall on a Sunday afternoon so we'd take 1500 or what not. Seems to me that the Majority of people hppy to see us competing down down are those who get to most games, as if we do ever go up the sofa and a tv would quickly BBC radio Leicester and foxestalk as the main way they catch games.

Tommeh Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 I wish I was cool like you. Yeah it is pretty awesome.
Babylon Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 We will be ok, we're too much like one of maddogs condoms to get promoted though.... its defence is good 99% of the time, but it rarely scores.

Wasn't just the size of the crowd that made that night special though. Anyway like I said earlier it's a matter of personal taste. Whatever league we play in I'll go to a few games and have a great time. But the bottom line is I want Leicester to be successful and spending 5 years in League One WOULD get very shit very quickly. I'm in no rush for us to get promoted but ultimately I want to see Leicester back in the Premier League as that's when I have happy, happy memories of this club and to live those days again would be fantastic.
Simi Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 I thought the best bit about Chelsea away was that quite a few Fox Travel Coaches missed the first goal. Seriously though, we've been really lucky with some of the cup ties in recent years. Certainly topped 90% of the league matches from our last Championship season. I've made my feelings clear on more than one occasion RE: Getting promoted. Can't really be arsed to get into again, yet.

Same here in regards to London determined to Palace this season. Loved 'Wall and Orient. Chelsea had the makings of a quality atmosphere, a whole away end, cheap tickets, suggestion of a giantkilling, night game too. As the loss made it typically Leicester. I enjoyed QPR that day too. Anyways, talk about divisional status and all that. I was thankfully brought up on wins away at the big clubs, watching us on telly in Europe playing teams with some prestige too. But I have never celebrated goals like I have in the past three years. From Cort's goal at the Bridge, Hume securing the win at Ashton Gate and his winner at Oakwell to Howard against Leeds, Gradel at Dons, Dyer at Hereford or Fryatt at Orient to N'Guessan winner against the Swans. If the entertainment and memories stay, regardless of opposition or division I'll probably be there but admittedly, I'd only be able to afford Premiership football in my current financial position.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 I support Leciester in the hope we win every game and that eventually means premiership.
Asha Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 If we don't want them to get promoted, what are you even cheering the team for? I really hate the fact that promotion would mean glory supporters and the like would start supporting the club after ditching them following relegation in 04. Even on facebook now, several of my 'friends' that have said for 6 years how 'leicester city are so shitty' as they put it, and laughed at me for supporting them, suddenly declaring they've always loved Leicester City and they're Leicester till they die and shit because we're looking a decent bet for promotion. Several factors mean I hope we don't get promoted, and yes it means to some extent I am questionning my support of the team at times. But growing to despise home games like some on here already do, and being unable to afford away games? No thanks.
Tilley Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 If we're up there in January, I think we should spend and go for it. This is going to be our best chance of promotion for a long time.
The Doctor Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 WAY. TOO. EARLY. Exactly. we should stay down for a couple of seasons and build a team capable of premier league survival. i know this system can have its flaws but whats the alternative? Fall to pieces like derby did, drop back into the CCC and then come very close to falling another division?

It never ceases to amaze me how people know for certain not only what we're going to do this season but the next one too.

I didn't say thats what we are going to do and what will happen. i was saying that is what, realistically, we should be trying to do.
Zingari Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 I support Leciester in the hope we win every game and that eventually means premiership. exactly , i fail to see how you can support a team any other way

Hull and Stoke stayed up with very ordinary squads, if we went up and MM put a bit of £ in and we kept NP, we'd have a fighting chance

Webbo Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 exactly , i fail to see how you can support a team any other way There must be some worried people coming home now. Terrified at the prospect of us getting promotion.
JimmyJam Posted 30 October 2009 Author Posted 30 October 2009 After watching us against QPR tonight i am feeling even more positive c'mon leicester keep it up
The Doctor Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 NEGATIVITY ALERT! We won't get promoted, we are far too inconstant to mount a proper promotion challenge, play-offs however beckon...
Matt Posted 30 October 2009 Posted 30 October 2009 NEGATIVITY ALERT!We won't get promoted, we are far too inconstant to mount a proper promotion challenge, play-offs however beckon... 2nd in the form table? I'm not sure myself about a promotion challenge, although in current form we certainly are showing it, whether that will stretch all season remains to be seen, but how you can call us inconsistent (From what we have seen so far this season) I don't know.
jonthefox Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Sorry to say it but when we got promoted to this league a few years back, we were having a good season and thought we might finish in the playoffs...but it didnt last...look at Swansea last season...they were having a good season but missed out by 6 points....you have some good players but you dont the necessary quality to finish in the top 6 IN MY OPINION.....Newcastle, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Cardiff, QPR and Preston will most probably make up most of the top 6 positions with teams like yourselves,Nottingham Forest,Bristol City and Watford pushing for a playoff position...However you never know how the season will go...if you can keep in touch with 6th place, I dont see why you cant make a late surge for the playoffs with 2 or 3 quality additions in January, because as I understand it your left back and right back are not the best?!and u could do with another centre midfielder?! Anyway...I hope you enjoy the game...just dont expect too much for your boys because we have the flair and pace to damage teams Good Luck though and I hope you continue to have a good season..just dont injure any of our players thx oops
