ozleicester Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 Just saw in the Music thread about playing somewhere and even though it wasnt the greatest place, it was a very special highlight or memory. So, wheres the one place youve played (football or whatever) that is your dream come true, alternately, where is the one place youd like to play. Ill kick off, although i guess it wont mean much to you folk in the UK. I played a cup final at "Hindmarsh Stadium". Hindmarsh is South Oz's premier football staduium, hosted some olympic matches and is the pinnacle of Football here. As for where id like to play... i guess "Wembley" is the all too obvious one there, I remember my tour of the ground back in the 90s, through the change rooms...walking around the ground and then up the steps... oh what a dream
filbertway Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 I've played a few finals at Tamworth's ground, The Lamb. That's about it. The pitch is in an awful state come may!

Head Honcho Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 Played in goal at Filbert Street. I was working for Walkers Crisps at the time and being sponsors we were able to organise a tournament and play it at Filbert Street. I was unbeaten in goal and we got to the final but I had to leave at half time as Deacon Blue were playing at DMH. We went on to lose the final
Daggers Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 I had to leave at half time as Deacon Blue were playing at DMH. Good work. I'd have left the county if that were happening too.

Lillehamring Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 sports wise, it was nice as a member of leicester panther youth to play in birmingham and manchester, not great grounds but fun road trips, and of course in the wonderful velodrome on saffron lane. couldn't find the one in the music thread, so... music wise, it was a personal satisfaction to play a gig at the charlotte, even if it wasn't with my band, and i ad-libbed an entire set vocally! other than that i got to play at the following venues in london - subterania being the biggest, bull & gate always the best: the robey, finsbury park the bull & gate, kentish town the king’s head, fulham university of north london the rock garden, covent garden the bull & bush, richmond the laurel tree, camden the hope & anchor, islington the clink, southwark langley village club, langley, berks the galway hooker, neasden the monarch, camden the camden falcon the jazz bistro, farringdon subterania the st. moritz club, wardour street and also university of wolverhampton
Sparky Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 Filbert St 1994 , county cup final playing for Oadby Town Juniors lost 2-1 to Thurmaston Magpies
Ashley Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 My Dad has played at all three of these, I came only at Wembley for 5 minutes and I was only 9 but still...
hairy Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 I once played long alley skittles at the Fox in Oadby
CosbehFox Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 Walkers Stadium panting like a dog stuck in a car in the midst of summer. Plymouth Albion RFC in a barnstorming comeback against local side playing Rugger. Proper crowd that day too and the atmosphere with the travelling support was immense. I got all excited cos the floor of the changing rooms was carpet!
James. Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 Meadow Lane, Birstall United is about as good as it gets sport wise. Lovely ground though. Musically I've got a bit more to show - Royal Albert Hall being the best one but also played at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, De Montfort Hall in Leicester and the Edinburgh Festival.
General Smuts Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 Bescot Stadium in Walsall on the day of the Chelsea Boro FA Cup final (we watched it in one of the private boxes at the ground) I set up Louis Dodds for a goal and we both had our names read out over the tannoy. Was epic and we won.

Edmund Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 in what capacity? I'm also intrigued. I'm guessing he plays an instrument in a Symphony Orchestra?
