Bellend Sebastian Posted 5 July 2010 Posted 5 July 2010 Leicester has been put on the map in a way I could only dream about. I don't think a Mayor in Leicester has ever achieved so much in such a short space of time
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 It's been a tough week. Many of my family and friends will not remember it fondly. They, along with many others, will continue to wonder how, through an act of supreme carelessness, a grown man of 46, holding one of the most envied and prestigious posts in Leicester, has brought that post into disrepute, destroyed his own credibiliity and turned the city into a laughing stock - ridiculed nationally and worldwide. But I think it's time that we put the whole regrettable episode behind us, and moved on. After all, I'm sure you're as bored of discussing Nigel Pearson as I am! If you wish to be funny may I suggest sticking to squirty flowers, custard pies, and fally down trousers.
davieG Posted 6 August 2010 Author Posted 6 August 2010 Workload forces Leicester mayoress to step down The Lady Mayoress of Leicester has announced she is standing down less than three months into the job for personal reasons. Eleanor Davidson said she has struggled to balance the commitments of the role with her personal life. She added that she is concerned about the impact the workload might have on her health if she continued. Since taking on the position 10 weeks ago, Mayoress Davidson has attended more than 80 events.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Lovely picture in today's Mercury of Colin in full mayoral regalia with Doctor Fox. Not THE Doctor Fox, but the bloke dressed as a fox who is in turn dressed as a doctor. Be careful, Colin, he's not a real medical practitioner
Houdini Logic Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Be careful, Colin, he's not a real medical practitioner You can't say that on this forum unless you have solid evidence. Just because you haven't seen his papers...
Bellend Sebastian Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 I'd happily let a bloke dressed as a fox or even an actual fox whip my appendix out, but some people are more fussy
Houdini Logic Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 I'd happily let a bloke dressed as a fox or even an actual fox whip my appendix out, but some people are more fussy I'd second that, especially with all these 'foreign' doctors these days. Can hardly speak a word of English some of 'em
MPH Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 I'd second that, especially with all these 'foreign' doctors these days. Can hardly speak a word of English some of 'em Not that you are confusing accent with vocabulary, eh?
Flynny Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Not that you are confusing accent with vocabulary, eh? Clearly a joke... ****s sake lighten up
MPH Posted 6 August 2010 Posted 6 August 2010 Clearly a joke... ****s sake lighten up or get the joke. try lightening up yourself!
davieG Posted 28 September 2010 Author Posted 28 September 2010 Lord Mayor of Leicester accuses Sousa and Mandaric of shaming city and football club Lord Mayor of Leicester Colin HallBy Dan Martin Outspoken Lord Mayor of Leicester Colin Hall has accused Paulo Sousa and Milan Mandaric of shaming the city and its football club. Councillor Hall, a life-long Foxes fan and the holder of a season ticket in the Kop, made the controversial comments on social networking website Twitter after City's 6-1 defeat at the hands of fellow Championship strugglers Portsmouth. After the final whistle of the televised match, Coun Hall went online to vent his frustration and tweeted: "That was a video nasty! Sousa and Mandaric have shamed my club and my city. The sooner both of them leave, the better." Councillor Hall, 46, yesterday said he stood by the criticism of the club's chairman and manager, saying it was born out of frustration at City's poor performance, lowly league placing and four months of frustration under Sousa's regime. He also said he wanted to move on and focus on supporting the team in tonight's game against Norwich and Saturday's home match against S****horpe. Councillor Hall said: "It's not my decision about who should lead the club. That's for the owners but they won't have been impressed by what they have seen so far. "I am a fan so I do get emotional. I was speaking as a fan. That was the worst performance I have seen for a very long time. I was feeling a lot of frustration after the game and I think that is shared by a lot of other fans. Things said online and offline come out of disappointment and frustration at the way the club is being run." A Leicester City spokesman hit back: "We are understandably disappointed to hear these comments by the Lord Mayor. "At a time when we are trying to promote unity and encourage supporters to get behind the team, unnecessary cheap shots from struggling politicians are not only unhelpful, they are destructive and counter-productive." Supporters' club chairman Cliff Ginnetta said: "I know Colin and he's certainly outspoken, but it's a bit harsh. "The fact he is a public figure, he should probably keep quiet or be careful about what he does say. "Milan has done a fantastic job for Leicester and although some fans are losing patience with Sousa, I think we want to be getting behind the team. "We don't need yet another new manager." Nottingham's Lord Mayor Councillor Brian Grocock said he would not consider making similar comments about Nottingham Forest or Notts County if they were struggling. He said: "When you are an ambassador for your city you have to be very careful what you say."
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 The fact that he is Lord Mayor still baffles me, did he actually done anything of note to deserve getting the position? His dementia appeal is a good cause but his career just seems to be one gaff after another that aside. On a side not I saw him about 3 weeks ago at the Council, red faced as ever.
Jon the Hat Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 Absolute Classic! "unnecessary cheap shots from struggling politicians are not only unhelpful, they are destructive and counter-productive"
davieG Posted 28 September 2010 Author Posted 28 September 2010 Absolute Classic! "unnecessary cheap shots from struggling politicians are not only unhelpful, they are destructive and counter-productive" That made it more appropriate to put in here than in any Sousa out topic. The City of Leicester's No 1 Ambassador.

Finnegan Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 "unnecessary cheap shots from struggling politicians are not only unhelpful, they are destructive and counter-productive" lol Brilliant.
Jon the Hat Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 We should all have Lord Mayors like Ultra. Common sense and political savvy are waaaaaaay overrated.
Dr The Singh Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 We should all have Lord Mayors like Ultra. Common sense and political savvy are waaaaaaay overrated. You forgot the ability to make people laugh (at him, ie his trouser dropping antics)
hairy Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 Oh Dear. They even gave him a chance to back down yesterday and he still stood by his comments.
davieG Posted 28 September 2010 Author Posted 28 September 2010 Oh Dear. They even gave him a chance to back down yesterday and he still stood by his comments. It's not his comments that are the problem it's using the Mayoral office as a vehicle to publish them, hardly what you expect from the City of Leicester's foremost Ambassadorial position. He has an outlet on here as Ultra to say those things. I'd have thought if was that upset about how LCFC is being run, and aren't we all then a more diplomatic approach to find out the state of play, with regards to the take over and it's possible affect on Sousa and the results would have been more acceptable. But then what do I know I don't even live in the City so I'm not eligible to offer an opinion.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 To be fair, if this is what makes the front page of the Leicester Mercury then it's a very slow news day, very slow.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 28 September 2010 Posted 28 September 2010 Absolute Classic! "unnecessary cheap shots from struggling politicians are not only unhelpful, they are destructive and counter-productive" That's possibly the least polite thing that's ever been said on behalf of the club. It's nice to see them sticking up for themselves. I'd like to think that before long they'll come on here and tell someone they're 'a whining twat' or a 'fatuous arsehole'. They'd go right up in my estimation then
