they have placed an order for an initial  20 with 6 currently in production.and hope to  have 100 in total. Why America has a need for 100 nuclear capable bombers I’ll never know but that’s  a discussion for another thread. A show of control/ Force probably..

Regardless of anything sinister, that is a beautiful profile of an aircraft, whatever it's intended role.

Not read all through this thread yet, and propably way behind, but wanted to just say that I was at Bruntingthorpe airfield for the inaugural flight of the Vulcan after its restoration. What a piece of engineering that was. The sheer power from close up was something else.

more recently, earlier this year saw the Lancaster flying low over the fishing lake nearby countesthorpe. Those merlins were an awesome noise.

When I was a boy around 1959, my Dad took me to the Cottesmore Air Show in Rutland. At the time, the V bombers were on active duty. The Valient, Vulcan and the Victor were on display and did several fly-bys. I was in awe of these magnificent machines.

The star of the show, for me, was the English Electric Lightning interceptor.

Great memories, a day with my Dad.

Must have been great seeing the lightning in action. I've never, or ever will, seen her in the air, but I have seen it accelerating up and down Bruntingthorpe airfield. Felt like my chest was about to cave in with the ridiculous sound coming from the thing.

It used to be a major attraction at the Stoughton airshow.

Above is how I read your post. I then laughed and it was as second or two before I noticed the 't'...

They would more likely use Subs for any Nuclear strike . These will be mainly used for stealth bombing on conventional targets.

Apparently they're keeping the B-52👴🏻😅

Yep, the B52 is being upgraded with new Rolls Royce engines to extend their life by 30 years. That's about 100 years in flying service by 2050.

yes, it is. Absolutely beautiful. Like  a super car of the sky.  I’m sorry if I took the thread in the wrong direction!

Remember many years ago being at Mildenhall Air show (when they used to run it) and a B2 literally flew across from the states, did a few laps and flew home again. Money was less tight back then...

Either way, phenomenal sights. Hope to glimpse some of these if the opportunity arises.

Just seen a jet fighter fuselage being transported on an articulated trailer followed by its wings and tail on another flatbed trailer. RAF insignia, green and grey cameo, but it went by quickly and I really only got a look at the, fairly short, wings as the first part had mostly passed before my attention was drawn to it. Thinking it might have been on its way to Bruntingthorpe, headed in that general direction.

Anyone any idea or heard about such being moved through Leicester?

Was there a Hurricane with it? They flew over my house earlier today, and yesterday for that matter. (NW Leicestershire)

Last week 2 Typhoon fighters flew low, at speed over Hinckley and banked left. No idea why they did, but just a random thrill moment for me.
