Was there a Hurricane with it? They flew over my house earlier today, and yesterday for that matter. (NW Leicestershire)

No, just the Spitfire.

I quickly checked on Flightradar24 and it is registered to a private individual and had flown from Exeter.

For some reason Flightradar stopped tracking it as it headed towards Loughborough so no idea where it was going to.

I work in the aviation sector, we supply pipes and ducts into engines and airframes of all commercial planes, some defence too - I really enjoy everything about aviation. I'd say the best experience on a commercial plane is an A350, an engineering and technological masterclass. We are exhibiting at the Paris Airshow next month and really looking forward to that.

Never tire of seeing and hearing that wonderful aircraft.

The Spitfire and Hurricane obviously deserve their special place in history. My other favourite from the era is the remarkable Mosquito. Merlin engines again so wonderful to hear.

Not sure I've ever seen a Mosquito unfortunately, are there some still flying?

Edit: I've just looked, 2 in US, 1 in Canada, none in GB travesty if true.

Hi. I've only seen flying example on history programmes or the US on YouTube.  Seen the non flying one at Duxford. Planning to go to the De Havilland museum which is quite close to me.

Should be a great day out! As a kid I used to love it when 633 squadron came on TV, haven't seen it for years but I seem to remember Mike Baldwin in it? ...also Star Wars ripped off the ending!! 🤣

Good tune too. Yes Johnny Briggs aka Mike B was in it. When I was a kid one of my teachers made a passing comment that he flew in Mossies. Not sure if pilot or navigator. Wish I had the gumption to ask questions

My old boss had a similar model, but crashed it near york - spent 3 months in hospital, had his PPL for about 30 years! Tell him not to stall it lol

You probably already know, but a fully restored wellington has just gone on display at RAF Cosford (midlands museum). Entry is free although parking is £6.50 for day. It’s the only one in the world (think there’s a beat up one somewhere too). Very impressive.

My grandad was a rear gunner and we’ve had some great info/insight from the staff there. Definitely worth a visit.

Out of interest, what squadron did your uncle fly with?
