Gaffer Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Thought's on Oakley clapping the Derby fans when he was substituted? I think he had a poor game, and dawdled at getting off the pitch. He spent an age clapping the fans he once played for (which is understandable) but at 1-0 down in a local derby (*cough*) to waste time like that was a bit daft. Many were calling for his head, and captaincy - might be a bit harsh but you can understand it. Thoughts?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I don't rate Oakley, to be honest. I've never seen him do much.
maddog Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I don't like Oakley. I think all in all he's been very shit this season. He's wasted hundreds of set pieces with woeful crosses. He has little pace, and lacks creativity. He hasn't scored in 40+ games. He's a non inspirational captain and isn't a great leader at all. I want him out the team forever TBH.
Guest Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I was disappointed in him to be honest. I can understand him clapping their fans but surely it has to be after our fans?
Gaffer Posted 27 March 2010 Author Posted 27 March 2010 He's been poor for a long time, lacks enthusiasm and determination. Doesn't lead by example in any form and brings very little to the team. The sheep singing "Matty Oakley's a Ram" Might not be too far off with his performance today, he was their best player
ta-fc Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 my two peneth worth.... Sack him unless he lets everyone of the faithful who paid £30 for that shite poke him in the eye, forever blinding him and subsequently improving his pass completion rate...
Koke Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I didn't realise he had made over 100 appearances for us already.
Webbo Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I didn't mind him clapping the Derby fans I just wished he'd of hurried up getting off the pitch.
Matt Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Reaction to Hume comeback with Barnsley? He clapped our fans...Our fans wanked over him, chanting his name and cheering him throughout the game - Cringe. Reaction to Joey Gudjohnsson coming a Leicester phone-in and saying he'd love to come back? I'm sure the Burnley fans loved that. It happens, Oakley has been poor of recent but get over it, especially as something so petty as clapping former fans.
Anish Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 He's been appalling this season and needs to be dropped. I want to see Gallagher in the attacking midfield role - Gallagher would have the freedom to move around and create things for us, which is severely lacking at the moment.
iancognito Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Clap who you like, that's not an issue, it's sporting behaviour. Being shit for weeks on end is a different matter entirely. The captain is the one who drives the side on who when everyone else is having a mare, comes up with a performance that turns a defeat into a draw or a draw into a win. Oakley doesn't do that and if Pearson only makes one change for the rest of the season it's to give someone else the armband and his place in the team.
Ozwin Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 You can't change the captaincy now, would completely disrupt an already disrupted side.

I want to see Gallagher in the attacking midfield role - Gallagher would have the freedom to move around and create things for us, which is severely lacking at the moment. Gallagher will not fulfil his defensive duties in that role. He will not get stuck in when things gets rough. He does not have work ethic to be part of a three-man midfield. Gallagher is a forward and is more suited to play in a forward position.
dandannieldanok Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 He's a crap player and captain then.................yet under his captaincy we're 6th in our first season back in the championship.
flanimal Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Oakley is very average, definitely our weakest player, and I think he's a poor captain. But dropping him and giving the captaincy someone else will psychologically damage the morale. We have to stick with him. After all, it's not just him who delivers crap free-kicks, and doesn't score.
Jimmy Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 he's not a great captain and probably not worthy of a place in the team but I don't have a problem with clapping the derby fans, just hurry the feck up next time
Ozwin Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Do some of you even go to games? Oakley never takes free kicks as far as I can tell.
Cat Burger Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 McDonalds drive-thru within three years, going by his current trajectory.
BNET Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 he's not a great captain and probably not worthy of a place in the team but I don't have a problem with clapping the derby fans, just hurry the feck up next time [/quoteOakley as to be the worst captain in the history of Leicester City ! what other captain of any club anywhere gets subbed (rightly so aswell) at least every other game ?
Guest nathan. Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 he's not a great captain and probably not worthy of a place in the team but I don't have a problem with clapping the derby fans, just hurry the feck up next time I agree just a quick claps fine not a full 360 of the ground clapping every stand.
Unabomber Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I thought it was disgusting from our so called captain, We are losing 1 nill in a local derby away from home and he waddles off at about one mile and hour which is bad enough in itself. But to applaud all the derby fans first was shocking, and his clap towards the Leicester fans almost seemed sarcastic. All in all it was a terrible performance from a below average player.
somebum Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I was disappointed in him to be honest. I can understand him clapping their fans but surely it has to be after our fans?. Biggest load of shite I have ever read on the net
flanimal Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I'm nott really sure what Oakley's point is in the team. He's not really a good defensive midfielder, and he's not quick, or strong, and his passing is pretty poor, and he's not inspirational, and he's not great at shooting.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Oakley is a disgrace. Should be left out the squad now, offers nothing. See how the derby fans love him......Matt Oakley
Fox92 Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 Its nice to see players get clapped at their old clubs, and its great to see the players respond and clap back but sureley Oakley should be clapping the Leicester fans first - whether he is a Derby legend or not, Leicester is his current side. Did I hear some boo's as well when he did clap the Derby fans? On the pitch, his days are over, he offers nothing and doesn't get stuck in at all.
