Andy King - Our most important player

Recommended Posts

are you really that stupid that you think our league place is because of 2 player? Chris Weale wouldn't be having such a good season were it not for the form of the likes of Berner, Hobbs & Morrison.

Fryatt or Waghorn wouldn't of scored as many were it not for the likes of King, Wellens & Dyer

That's not what he said. He said Fryatt and Weale have been important players too. The goals and clean sheets are quite obvious and strong arguments for his case don't you think? He never said they were the only two important players.

Andy King is the one positive to come out of today.

He showed Oakley how to play. He passed the ball well, always regained possesion, broke down the play, made vital tackles and got into good attacking positions.

The game today suited his style of play very well and we MUST hold on to him in the summer whether we go up or not.

He is our Darren Fletcher.

Villa will come a calling he will "teach Fabian Delph a footballing lesson" as some clowns said on here!, Andy King is a joke.

An average Championship player that should appear on the bench at all times.

Amazing how differently we can perceive players when we have such limited information. Even listening every week Kingy just never seems to get a huge mention (i assume that he is on and off the ball very quickly and perhaps the commentaters miss him?) to discover he has scored 20 this year is a hell of a surprise.

Most important players this year for me...(in order of who id like to keep most)

Hobbs

Bruno

Gally

Fryatt

Waghorn

( King.. based on new information/recognition )

Wellens

Weale

McGivern... (we need someone to take all the blame and crap for every loss, although Oakley can also fill this role)

no he's scored 20 in his career at the club

Kings a top player fo us, probably lower premiership class?

Prefer him to Wellens anyday!

Another (crucial) goal from the lad.

:appl:

Delighted for big Steve as well. He's come from the wilderness and really made a difference of late.

King was good today, a typical game from him where he was always battling in midfield then comes from no where to score.

His goal scroing is just getting better and better, puts Wellens and Oakley's to shame.

I'm probably not the only one who thought the step-up from League One to the Championship might have been a bit much for the lad, but he seems to have thrived on the increase in quality of opposition. He's not a remarkable, highlight-reel player in terms of raking 50-yard passes or beating 6 players before slamming home. Instead, he's a grafter and always puts the effort in, holds our midfield together and chips in with crucial goals where his midfield colleagues fail significantly. Had a very, very good season and seems to be getting better. Hopefully he'll continue developing here and be here for a while yet.

I remember how often he was slated or dismissed in our relegation season. His lack of athleticism being the main reason why he "wouldn't make it". Even in our promotion campaign, a few wouldn't recognise the obvious promise he has and how important he is for the team. But if he keeps this up, I can't see us holding on to him.

Course he should.

Doesn't contribute with vital goals or anything

And how many games have you been to this season?

He'll never set the football world alight but I'd much rather have him in the team than Oakley at present and he beats most of the crap we've had to put up with in the centre of midfield the last few years.

His positional sense is superb, he can tackle, he can pass and he always comes up with a goal at crucial times... plus he is still young and can improve.

I admit that I wasn't an Andy King fan for a long period of time. I thought he was in-effective and there were many better players than him around.

Having spent a lot of the season, watching our midfielder pairings and best performances, there's no co-incidence that our best football always happens when Andy King is on the pitch.

He's does so much work for the team its unreal. He works so hard, that it allows our creative midfielder to put more of his resource and energy into the attacking side of the game. Richie Wellens wouldnt be able to pick the passes he does, if Andy King didn't do so much of the ugly side of the game.

The important thing for Andy, is that as well as the ugly stuff in midfield he does, which is essential, is he has added 9 league goals this season. Amazing.

This guy has sooo much potential, that he could go as far as he wants.

But always remember, he isn't going to create goals that win you games all the time, and isn't going to dribble past two players and slot someone in on goal.

He is a player, who keeps it simple, always plays the right pass and gets himself into the right position all the time. Never forgetting his unbelieveable work-rate and you've found yourself a fabolous centre midfielder, and I wouldn't change him for many midfielders at this level. Never mind thinking of his potential of what he could do in the premier league.

And if, only if, we get promoted, King will be essential for us in a survival fight.

It is essential whatever league we are in next season, that this guy is playing 40+ games for us.

Taking nothing away from King but Wellens has been excellent the past month. Some of his passing in particular better than most at this level.

I think that if King plays in our remaining league games, then he would of played 100 league games for the club.

Would be a great achievement considering he's only 21.

maybe so but for the previous 6 Wellens has been a passenger at best and King, with help from Dyer, has been carrying Oakley and Wellens

King is definately building a bit of a legendary status with us. He needs a chant, he's scored some important goals for us this year.

Had high hopes for Wellens and was delighted when we signed him. However, i think it's fair to say that for the majority of the season he hasn't quite lived up to expectations.

That said, i agree he seems to have really upped his game of late and is fast becoming a key member of the side.
