Not that surprising, he's still our player and Sousa will want to look at all the players we've currently got. If Sousa thinks he's worthy of a place in the squad next season then we have to trust his judgement.

Well I was surprised regardless, seeing as last time he came back off loan he was outcasted and sent to the reserves. I stated that Sousa will want to look at him, so I guess thats the justification for him being included. But as a fan I'm still wary to see someone in our shirt who seems to want to get away that badly!

first post so be kind.

i personally believe that the guy should be given another chance, yes he is probably our highest earner, but if given the chance i think he can prove himself also if the offside rule was taught to him he could actually notch up a decent goal tally.

Yeah i agree with the first bit.One last chance. Was the problem with Pearson or other players. If pearson,he might really want to try hard to get his place back.Or he might want to sit on his arse counting his wages! Dunno why i think this but ive got a feeling he will stay and finally do well, but hey im a simpleton from the fens!

Normally I'd give players a 2nd chance but this is like his 3rd or 4th now.

It isn't though.

What chance has he had under Pearson?

Spent more time at Blackpool and briefly Derby.

Hate to say it people but i reckon DJ may actually be useful to us this season. Sousa is giving all players a chance and you cant knock his performance for blackpool last season.

Strangely I hope that this isn't true now but who knows.....

Blackpool back in for dj?

£1m bid according to todays sun. now we'll see if milan means what he says cos if he is about to jump ship then he'll probably pocket that million before the new owners come in. his five goals in pre-season suggests that paulo wants him to stay be intresting to see what milans made of here or wether dj wants out anyway. id say make it £1.5 m and sign james beattie

Why on earth would we swap one moody player and replace him with another who hasn't played a competitive game for ages, whose attitude is arguably worse, and whose wage demands would be double that Campbell's?

According to the Mail website, (who probably made it up) we've offerd him a new contract to bully Blackpool.

Mmmm! Their quote says they have offered him a new contract to stop him from signing for Blackpool! He is under contract so cant sign for them anyway!! doh!

I dont know why he would want to sign for Blackpool anyway, as far as I can see they have not bought anyone to prop up their squad so this season I expect to see them get battered most matches!!

It's logical if you think in terms of Blackpool offering a 3 year contract and we've offered him an extension to make the Blackpool one less attractive.

From Leicester Mercury:

DJ Campbell

Leicester city have knocked back Blackpool's latest attempt to sign striker DJ Campbell, the Leicester Mercury understands.

Seasiders boss Ian Holloway reportedly tabled a £1million bid, which has been rejected by manager Paulo Sousa.

City chief executive Lee Hoos said he would not comment on any speculation surrounding the player.

However, this appears to be the clearest indication yet that the City boss is determined to hang on to the 28-year-old striker.

Earlier this week, Sousa described Campbell as "someone who wants to do great things for the club during the season."

Holloway, who was manager at City when they slipped into League One in 2008, was prepared to smash the Blackpool transfer record to land Campbell permanently.

His eight goals in 14 games helped fire the Seasiders to a place in the Premier League while he was on loan at Bloomfield Road last season after failing to impress former boss Nigel Pearson.

Blackpool's record transfer fee is the £500,000 paid for Charlie Adam from Rangers.

However, City have previously quoted a price of £1.5m to the Tangerines as they try to recoup the majority of the £1.6m they paid Birmingham.

Campbell has been in stunning form for City with five goals in as many pre-season games as he looks to rebuild his career at the Walkers Stadium.

Campbell has impressed Sousa with his fitness and attitude.

I dont think we should be offering him a new contract until he,s proven himself for us in competitive games, Because if his good form for us is only tempoary and has a new say 3 year contract we could end up in the same situation as we have done over the past cupple of years and be unable to offload him.
