Dylan Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 15 million Seriously, I think Blackpool will be desperate to sign him, and think we should be able to achieve at least a mill for him, with a clause that'd give us a bit more if they stay up, or score a certain amount of goals etc.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 I think a million for him would be good business. But hope we dont get greedy and want more so they pull out in the end.
Houdini Logic Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Hold out for a half decent price, though sell before we get any more news about his court case...
BoneDog Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 I'd be very happy if we get £1million for him. I'd be happy with £750,000 actually but am hoping for a bit more It will free up around £50,000 (?) a month on the wage bill too so would be a great bit of business.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 If a players heart isn't at the club, he's best not being at the club at all. My Philosophy.
Ashley Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 I would take £1 million for DJ, then an add on clause of around £300-£500,000 after so many apperances or blackpool staying up?
kam6 Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 REports suggest this co*k head is on approx £25k a week!!! I would take £1m for transfer and clauses for appreances, and this would make our wage budget a little better. approx £25k less for DJ £15k for Clemence £10k for Dick-ov etc etc I think that Howard will/should go too. and also Oakley who are probs on big wages!
Mee Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Would be nice to see 1 million for him, and i think they will pay that much due to them going up. That hat-trick would of put his price tag up a little. If he doesn't want to be here, then let him go, would prefer a player with a little less ability but with his heart in the club over DJ any day.
Tommeh Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 I'll be honestly gutted if we don't take a good £1.5m for him, regardless of everything else. It's about time some of this stupid money left the glorious Premier League.
lcfc278 Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 If a players heart isn't at the club, he's best not being at the club at all. My Philosophy. I agree with this. dj campbell, to my memory, is the first player who has said that he didnt want to play for us. I dont care if he is cristiano ronaldo if he doesnt want to play for us then i dont want him at our club. he thinks he is better than he is and the sooner we get rid of this pleb the better. the fact that he suggested that we would "do something silly" just says to me that he is a twat and has no respect for leicester, if the attention is not on him he throws his dummy out the pram. i dont care if we get less than a million or whatever i jus want him out, his wages will allow us to get in 2 maybe three good prospects. good riddance!
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Personally I see it like this: - worst case scenario: DJ stays & does nothing but take his wages for the next year. Ok this sucks but he's been sponging off us for the last 3 years so its no worse a situation than we're in already. However, I think the chances are he's going to go. Even if he goes to Blackpool for nothing, we free up his wages (which I'm led to believe are substantial). Anything that fress up funds is a positive as it opens up possibilites as far as keeping our best players at the club or signining new ones are concerned. Alternatively, Blackpool will want him after what he's done for them this year AND in his previous loan spell there. They have money to spend and managers often go back to tried and tested options rather than fork out on players they have no experience of working with. Ok, there's nothing to suggest that DJ could make it in the premiership but he has scored consistently for blackpool in the championship, knows the club, the squad and the management already and is clearly a better option than the strikers they have on their own books as he has kept them out of the team. I'm sure they would be willing to pay a fee for him which is even better. Even if he does not go to blackpool, other championship clubs will have seen that he can score & will also know he wants a move & we want to get rid so I'm 99% sure someone will be interested. Put all that together and I#m pretty sure he won't be here next year: Main objective: Achieved
Mee Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 DJ Campbell is urging his parent club Leicester not to do ‘something silly’ by jeopardising his dreams of playing Premier League football with Blackpool next season. The on-loan 28-year-old played a major part in helping the Tangerines to an historic promotion campaign, scoring 11 goals in 18 games since his temporary switch from the Walkers Stadium. Earlier this season, Ian Holloway expressed doubts that he could afford Campbell on a permanent basis given that the Pool boss had the second lowest budget in the Championship to work with. However, Blackpool’s play-off victory against Cardiff is reported to be worth £90 million and Campbell, who cost City £1.6 million, is now eyeing a permanent move to Bloomfield Road. “What happens next? I can’t answer that yet, but I had a little word with the gaffer after Saturday’s game and he wants to sign me,” said Campbell. “I want to come, so it is a case of hoping Leicester don’t so something silly. We will see what happens over the summer but I have been so happy at Blackpool during the second half of the season. “I love the club. I love everybody, all the players and the gaffer. I am speechless and just delighted for everyone that we managed to win promotion. “But we deserved it, I think. The last 12 games we have been on such a great run and we showed on Saturday that we deserve to be where we are. I am delighted.” Sounds like he wants to go.
Number 6 Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 They want him, we want rid, he wants to go to them. He would probably take the wage cut now he'd get his mug on MOTD every week. I'm sure a fee will be agreed which is maybe not as much as we wanted and maybe more than Blackpool wanted to pay, but it's ultimately the best for all parties involved.
Ozwin Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Anyone see Martin Allen raving about him on SSN earlier? Made him sound like bloody Fernando Torres the way he was banging on about his finishing and 'only needs one chance' rubbish.
Corky Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Anyone see Martin Allen raving about him on SSN earlier? Made him sound like bloody Fernando Torres the way he was banging on about his finishing and 'only needs one chance' rubbish. To be fair to Allen, when he was in charge Campbell scored two in the three games (they weren't 25-yard screamers though) so he saw a decent side of Campbell.
Courua Posted 26 May 2010 Posted 26 May 2010 DJ Campbellend is a stone around our necks, a player who doesn't want to play for us. Yet people are convinced we should try and recoup all or 3/4 or even bloody half of the money on selling a player who hasn't played a full season in any shirt for god knows how long, but still, 12 games, 1 hat trick plus a few goals and a newly prem'd team with money sniffing his arse is enough to convince us and the managerial world that this dJudas is worth a big pay out eh. Nevermind the fact that he seems to have a rudeboi personality, trouble with the police, a problem with how to handle himself with the media (though Holloway can teach him all about that eh). Oh, and a problem with actually playing for his team who pays him exuberant pay checks for sweet diddily. Don't get me wrong, if, and what an IF, if we actually get rid of him for a decent amount then I'd be overjoyed, but if we get rid of him at all I'm still going to be as happy. Money is an extra. As for some people who are even contemplating that we keep him?!?! madness. Sell him, free or no, the worst this we can do is keep him. To quote dJudas, "anything but that". Pride and passion for the team, the manager, the badge on his shirt and most of all. US.
teblin Posted 26 May 2010 Posted 26 May 2010 One million pounds Premier League new boys Blackpool have been told that they will have to stump up £1m if they want to sign striker DJ Campbell on a permanent deal from Leicester. The striker, who scored 11 goals during his loan spell including a hat-trick in the play-off victory over Nottingham Forest, has just 12 months remaining on his contract. Carlos9 Posted 26 May 2010 Posted 26 May 2010 DJ Campbell is hoping Leicester City will not stand his way as he looks to secure a dream move to Blackpool. The 28-year-old frontman ended the season on loan at Bloomfield Road, playing an integral role in a fairytale finish for the club. He plundered 11 goals in 18 outings for the Seasiders, including a hat-trick in a play-off semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest which took the club to Wembley. Campbell was again handed a starting berth by Ian Holloway for Saturday's final with Cardiff City and played his part in securing a memorable 3-2 win. With Blackpool now preparing for life in the Premier League, and with Leicester having suffered play-off heartache in the other semi against Cardiff, Campbell is understandably keen to return to the North West. Having been out of favour with the Foxes before heading out on loan in February, he has called on his parent club to do the right thing and allow him a shot at the big time. "What happens next? I can't answer that yet but I had a little word with the gaffer after Saturday's game and he wants to sign me. I want to come so it is just a case of hoping Leicester don't do something silly," Campbell told the Leicester Mercury. "But everyone in Blackpool knows how much I love the club - I wouldn't have come back otherwise. We'll see what happens during the summer but I have been so happy to be at Blackpool during the second half of the season. I love the club. I love everybody, all the players and the gaffer. "I am speechless and just delighted for everyone that we've actually managed to win promotion. But we've deserved it I think. The last 12 games we have been on such a great run and we showed again on Saturday that we deserve to be where we are. I am delighted." Leicester had also loaned Campbell to Blackpool for the second half of the 2008/09 season, when he scored nine league goals in 20 appearances. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6172225,00.html
dandannieldanok Posted 26 May 2010 Posted 26 May 2010 I also remember our home game against Stoke in that same season where the genius Gary Megson started with a 4-3-3, an attacking force consisting of Carl Cort, DJ Campbell and Mark de Vries. That game is stil fresh in my mind and that has to be one of the most inept attacking lines we have put out in recent memory. Hume & Fryatt came on in the second half for DJ & de Vries, and we drew 1-1. I too remember that, genuinely horrific frontline.
