Edmund Posted 24 May 2010 Posted 24 May 2010 No-one's said he's not in decent form. They'd be deluded not to recognise that. Why do you keep overlooking that good form does not make someone a decent player?! I'm not overlooking anything. I've always rated DJ and still to this day don't think he got a fair shot at Leicester. I find it hard to base my opinions on him solely in a season when our strikers were dire and contributed to us getting relegated. Obviously since then he's been a bad egg in the dressing room and I've accepted it's in the best interest for both parties to part company. He only has himself to blame with the comments he made in the media and I feel that fans use this is ammo to shoot him down at every opportunity. Anyway we've obviously got split opinions and I respect that but I don't see why I should get shot down and branded an idiot etc at every opportunity because I see the situation from a different perspective.

Have you ever actually seen him play? I'm honestly baffled by anyone who has and thinks he has quality. "Average championship striker" is seriously flattering.
FoxyPV Posted 24 May 2010 Posted 24 May 2010 Have you ever actually seen him play? I'm honestly baffled by anyone who has and thinks he has quality. "Average championship striker" is seriously flattering. His goal ratio for us is pure shite but he has scored in a reasonable manner for everyone else (just looking a championship level). Wiki (Not defending him as I think he's cack)
Edmund Posted 24 May 2010 Posted 24 May 2010 Have you ever actually seen him play? I'm honestly baffled by anyone who has and thinks he has quality. "Average championship striker" is seriously flattering. Yes. He may not have the best footballing brain but his pace alone frightens most defences. I actually thought him and Collins John looked a good partnership under Megson. I've also seen most of his goals he scored for Brum in that season they were promoted. Like I said that season all our strikers were dire and couldn't score in a brothel. The goals Deej has been scoring for Blackpool aren't just clumsy tap ins as most would expect (or like to believe) but he's scoring a variety of goals including a couple of decent headers. He looks a real deadly poacher and has that natural strikers instinct to be in and around the box picking up on loose ends. Anyway what's the point in me typing all this you'll just disagree nonetheless so I'm going to leave it there.
Finnegan Posted 24 May 2010 Posted 24 May 2010 I actually thought him and Collins John looked a good partnership under Megson. lol !! Nevermind, I see what you've been doing all along...
LukeyZade Posted 24 May 2010 Posted 24 May 2010 isnt there a buy out clause? dj clearly stated he doesnt want to play for leicester again, i say we demand 3m+ or dj returns just to pi*s him off
Salieri Posted 24 May 2010 Posted 24 May 2010 isnt there a buy out clause? dj clearly stated he doesnt want to play for leicester again, i say we demand 3m+ or dj returns just to pi*s him off Yeah be a great idea that, when we are desperate to get him off the wage bill. I'd let him go for nowt.
BoneDog Posted 24 May 2010 Posted 24 May 2010 DJ has a record of 1 goal every 2 games in his last 40 games which is a pretty good in my opinion. 20 goals in 43 games aint bad at all.
The Padster Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 DJ Campbell has pleaded with Leicester City not to scupper his dream move to Premier League-bound Blackpool this summer. Campbell helped Blackpool win the play-off final at Wembley on Saturday to book their place in the Premier League, and Campbell wants to go with Ian Holloway's Seasiders into the top flight. The 28-year-old, who has scored 11 times in 18 games for The Tangerines since joining on loan from Leicester in February, has urged City not to "do something silly'' to jeopardise his permanent move to Bloomfield Road. City are keen to offload Campbell, who has failed to find the same goal-scoring form in a blue shirt he has shown on the north-west coast, as he is one of the club's highest earners. Holloway had expressed doubts over whether Blackpool could afford to sign Campbell, who cost City £1.6million three years ago. Holloway had the second lowest budget in the Championship last season and it was likely that City would have reduced their transfer fee demands had the Seasiders not gained promotion. Campbell had indicated he was also prepared to accept a pay cut to make the move. However, Blackpool's play-off victory is estimated to be worth £90 million to the club and they now have the finances to make City an offer, but Campbell fears City will jeopardise his move by playing hard-ball during negotiations. He said: "What happens next? I can't answer that yet, but I had a little word with the gaffer after Saturday's game and he wants to sign me. I want to come, so it is just a case of hoping Leicester don't do something silly. "But everyone in Blackpool knows how much I love the club – I wouldn't have come back otherwise. "We'll see what happens during the summer but I have been so happy to be at Blackpool during the second half of the season. I love the club. I love everybody, all the players and the gaffer. "I am speechless and just delighted for everyone that we've actually managed to win promotion. But we've deserved it I think. The last 12 games we have been on such a great run and we showed again on Saturday that we deserve to be where we are. I am delighted." Meanwhile, reports during the weekend that City have reached an agreement with Liverpool over a season-long loan for midfielder Jay Spearing are premature. City are interested in signing the 21-year-old, who has impressed City boss Nigel Pearson, either permanently or more likely on another loan deal, but no deal has been struck. Merc
Babylon Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 We'd already agreed to let him go there for virtually nothing last year, but his wage demands stopped it. Blackpool aren't stupid and won't pay silly money when we are desperate to get rid. 400/500k max is what we'll get, although if other clubs get involved maybe a bit more. We certainly won't get our money back though.

A fair and reasonable price would involve Blackpool paying one million pounds for him now, and a further million if they retain their Premiership place a year from now.
Foxes1 Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 How can we scupper the move he could have gone months ago but like others have said on here he wanted too much money, don't be a greedy so and so and just go and take a pay cut TWAT

It's up to him what happens next, not us. The fact that we were paying the bulk of his wages to help Blackpool get promoted grates, so it's up to him to show willing.
Babylon Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 A fair and reasonable price would involve Blackpool paying one million pounds for him now, and a further million if they retain their Premiership place a year from now. Fair to who? I doubt they'll think it fair us wanting possibly £2m for a player we were willing to sell them for nothing 10 months ago.
harpendenfox Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Fair to who? I doubt they'll think it fair us wanting possibly £2m for a player we were willing to sell them for nothing 10 months ago. Fair to us. The value of all assets goes up and down according to all sorts of factors. If we sell for a million, we are accepting a 600k loss on a player whose hat-trick sent Blackpool to Wembley. With four years of parachute payments now Blackpool's minimum earnings, that is fair. If he helps them survive, Blackpool then make far more money, and we would make a small profit on our asset, meaning everyone would be happy
Ozwin Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 He hasn't done for us what his value suggested he should, he deserves to be held ransom as he's done **** all in the time he's been here. It'd be interesting to see how much he cost per appearance/goal.

If they think we are ripping them off and aren't willing to pay it, we will once again be lumbered with a player we don't want who costs a bloody fortune in wages.
maddog Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Dj should be worth more money now than he was when we signed him. He scored 8 goals in 14 starts for Blackpool this season, imagine if he was fit and was at Blackpool for the whole season. He may have scored 20 goals+ in 40+ starts if he kept up that sort of form. Baring in mind Blackpool were the 3rd highest goalscorers in the Championship with 74 goals, only West Brom and Newcastle scored more, it's highly likely Dj would have scored a lot more goals for them had he been there for the whole season. We should easily get our money back. Dj Campbells goals to starts ratio for Blackpool this season is better than that of joint top scorers Whittingham and Maynard, they would sell for many millions, we should get at least £1.5m for Dj.

He's in the last year of his contract, they aren't as far as i'm aware. We are desperate to get rid of him and their clubs aren't. We were willing to get rid for virtually nothing last year and most probably would be this year also had they not been promoted, regardless of his scoring rate. Blackpool know all of this which means we aren't in a good position to play hard ball with them. Our only hope is that another club also bid for him to drive the price up.

If they think we are ripping them off and aren't willing to pay it, we will once again be lumbered with a player we don't want who costs a bloody fortune in wages. I realise that, obviously. I don't want to be lumbered with him either. I just feel that a million now, with a further payment if they succeed, is not ripping them off, but simply realising fair value. Anyway, it doesn't really matter what we think, I jist hope we get a decent bit of money, and can move on from the whole frustrating experience.
Koke Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 Yes. He may not have the best footballing brain but his pace alone frightens most defences. I actually thought him and Collins John looked a good partnership under Megson. Collins John's performance away at Wolves in 2007 made me facepalm. I also remember our home game against Stoke in that same season where the genius Gary Megson started with a 4-3-3, an attacking force consisting of Carl Cort, DJ Campbell and Mark de Vries. That game is stil fresh in my mind and that has to be one of the most inept attacking lines we have put out in recent memory. Hume & Fryatt came on in the second half for DJ & de Vries, and we drew 1-1.

I mean seriously mate get over urself, your the one who has been unwilling to take a pay cutt for however long! does us a favour and lower ur wage demands and jog on! ull fit in just gr8 with the rest of the muppets there!
J.Lisemore Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 What a twat. "Don't do anything silly?" Holding out for a bit of money (around the 1 million mark) for what we deserve off that fooking ballbag, and he probably thinks thats silly.
gosfox Posted 25 May 2010 Posted 25 May 2010 A fair and reasonable price would involve Blackpool paying one million pounds for him now, and a further million if they retain their Premiership place a year from now. I take it you're settling for th ONE million then.....
