Narborough_fox Posted 10 August 2010 Posted 10 August 2010 Milan says the takeover is close and he'll remain as chairman, and it would make Leicester a global brand What we aren't at the minute.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 10 August 2010 Posted 10 August 2010 My contact says the other half of the club is being bought by an Indonesian partner, not sure what the hold up is but it's done and he told me it was a done deal 2 weeks ago, just paperwork and other technicalities.
Legend_in_blue Posted 10 August 2010 Posted 10 August 2010 Something will be announced August 12. Two days to go people. Patience. No doubt there will be some kind of cringeworthy announcement on it before kick-off on Saturday as well.

teblin Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Looked like the investors were sitting with mm last night.
wurmer Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 we we wont have any cheerleaders or 'leicester vixens' or anything like that... oh no... not at all... we are going to have the: Leicester Ladyboys! Does this mean we will now have a "Ladies" team, that can actually take on the mighty Ladies sides of Arsenal and Everton?
Babylon Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 At any point has anyone mentioned whether these people will actually invest money for us to buy players, usually MM will scream that sort of thing from the roof tops, but I can't remember it being mentioned. Could we end up as a play thing and get no real investment in the playing side?
markbsac Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 i can see this all going very very wrong.........as fans we want investment not just to be a platform for advertising for a dodgey tai duty free company...if these people are not putting big money in then i see no sense in having them ! but it looks like its a done deal
HonradaRaposa Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 At any point has anyone mentioned whether these people will actually invest money for us to buy players, usually MM will scream that sort of thing from the roof tops, but I can't remember it being mentioned. Could we end up as a play thing and get no real investment in the playing side? There has to be investment on the playing side for it to be a worthwhile play thing.
Babylon Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 There has to be investment on the playing side for it to be a worthwhile play thing. Not really, that entirely depends on what they want to get out of it.
sw_fox Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 My skeptical side tells me this is a tax avoidance scheme so that he can offset his losses at LCFC on his tax bill at home.
davieG Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Not really, that entirely depends on what they want to get out of it. And how much they paid to be part of it up front. They may consider a 'small' one off investment justifiable for the exposure they will get from and Championship side. From Mandaric's perspective as long as he comes out with a profit I'm betting he's not too concerned as he's probably had enough by now.
HonradaRaposa Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Not really, that entirely depends on what they want to get out of it. It's not much of an investment if they let it stagnate in the Championship or slide towards relegation. They need the team to be minimum play-off contenders every season to at least.
STUHILL Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 I think they are buying Leicester because we are close to going up and having their brands in the Prem league would be a massive, worthwhile investment for them. I think they realise 5-10million could potentially get us there this season, or next.
Callabinho Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 All they want to do is shake Milan's hand with one of those electric shock devices attached to theirs! cheeky devils!
MPH Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 My skeptical side tells me this is a tax avoidance scheme so that he can offset his losses at LCFC on his tax bill at home. At a cost of 40-50 million, that's an expensive tax avoidance scheme.
MPH Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 At any point has anyone mentioned whether these people will actually invest money for us to buy players, usually MM will scream that sort of thing from the roof tops, but I can't remember it being mentioned. Could we end up as a play thing and get no real investment in the playing side? Iwould guess its got to the stage where prices of potential players will go up if we start talking about how much money we have to spend....
Chrysalis Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 My contact says the other half of the club is being bought by an Indonesian partner, not sure what the hold up is but it's done and he told me it was a done deal 2 weeks ago, just paperwork and other technicalities. if its not signed its not done. the paperwork is the deal. we see this all too often with players as well, player A coming to club just needs to sign etc. then the player of course doesnt sign.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Just been on EMT about the investors at last nights game saying they had laptops with them that dont give us a lot of info a bit pointless realy

davieG Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 From the Merc An announcement on the future ownership of Leicester City was expected today. As previously reported in the Leicester Mercury, five Asian companies have been in talks with City owner and chairman Milan Mandaric about buying a majority stake in the club. One of these is Thailand duty-free shopping business King Power Group, the club's new shirt sponsor. It is owned by Vichai Raksriaksorn, who has an estimated wealth of £113 million. The other four firms have not been named, but they are not thought to be Thai. Mandaric is back in the country after travelling overseas and is understood to be preparing an announcement for today. He would not comment last week on reports the deal being negotiated would value the club at £39 million. However, he did suggest the takeover would involve taking on the £26 million debt and the stadium. Some reports suggest the consortium would initially buy 49 per cent of City, with a view to buying the rest at a later date. But the Mercury understands the potential investors are talking about buying a majority stake. It is understood Serbian-American millionaire Mandaric would stay as chairman under the deal. Speaking last week, Mandaric said: "There's lots of details and lots of conditional things to put together. We hope to announce something by the end of next week."
