Tommy G Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Thank F*** for that Shame you didn't retire before, maybe not being a regular at your league club may have been a hint? Thanks for the odd semi decent performance and theatrical falls to the ground
Bryn Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Stage is set for a glorious return to lead Leicester to promotion . I reckon you'd need a goalscoring striker alongside him even at this level though.
Guest ttfn Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 I really wish all the Heskey haters would just get lost This is for the best though.
Samilktray Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 A goal every 8.8 games for England I like Heskey but hes not England quality anymore, he should probably think about leaving Villa if he wants to play any football next year.
Gaffer Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 That's it support the Leicester Lad Wish you well Emile, met you several times, lovely chap
Jon the Hat Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Well played big man. Deserved all his caps in my view, he was asked to play and he did his best.
Corky Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Right time for him to go, he gave his all for England but it's time to move on. Would like to see him back at the club in some capacity in the future.
purpleronnie Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 He was never a great goal scorer at the highest level but to think managers play him up front just to score goals they are deluded. It what he does to open the game up for the rest of the team, just ask many premiership defenders who do they like playing against the least his name crops up more than others and just ask fellow strikers who they like playing aside and its heskey.. I think he did his bit but like all the england team during the WC he was poor. And its probably wise to bow out now.
Joe. Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Heskey has never scored a significant goals wherever he has been, even with us and Liverpool when he was at his best. It annoys me when people use his goal record as an argument, when he's never been notorious for it in the first place.
Webbo Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 I wonder if anyone would hero worship a goalie who didn't stop goals.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 I wonder if anyone would hero worship a goalie who didn't stop goals. I would. I've built a Kevin Pressman shrine in my garden. It's made out of potatoes
purpleronnie Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 I wonder if anyone would hero worship a goalie who didn't stop goals. How on earth can you compare the two?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Heskey much under-rated - no one ever moaned about Sheringham's goals per games (it is better than Emile's, but not much) despite them being similar players... except Emile was faster by far.
Webbo Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 How on earth can you compare the two? Tbh Bellends reply was funnier.
Tommy G Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 I would. I've built a Kevin Pressman shrine in my garden. It's made out of potatoes Brilliant. on a side not - Heskey is a striker and they are expected to score GOALS surprisingly. So people who's argument of his greatness is ''he was a nuisance to defenders'' is bull sh!t. I think if you stuck Hulk Hogan up front he would be a ''nuisance to defenders'' dosn't make him a good footballer.
Tilley Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Heskey announcing retirement? Brilliant. As if he was ever going to get called up again anyway. As Milky said, he needs to leave Villa aswell else the rest of career will be on the bench.
Fosse Boy Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Well done Emile. You've done your hometown proud in the national colours.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Played Emile.......managed a poorer games:goals ratio for England than Akinbiyi did for Leicester. .........but hey stating facts like that is slanderous! the guy is from Lesta!!!! and is therefore a legend.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Stating facts like that is pointless not slander. They shouldn't be pointless but they are in Heskey's case, it's as if the guy has given free money handouts to people on here. And given the reactions towards people who even dare to criticise the bloke then you could use a stronger word then even slander. I wish I could do **** all for years yet still pick up his wage and get called up time and time again. Heskey should not have been picked for England post-WC 2002, he peaked there and has been pretty dismal ever since.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Heskey must've slewed danieldan's missus at some point since Japan / Korea.
