Lisburn Fox Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 If Fryatt goes I will be massively Pissed Off. Sousa needs to be a manager and get this situation sorted. "Fryatt I made a mistake on my arrival, water under the bridge you are a big part of my plans I want you, the fans want you so get out there and score some goals" C"MON followed by back slapping smiles and big roars.

conradno1 Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 He helped get us relegated. The smelly egg im not defending kisnorbo but you quote he helped us get relegated with one of the best defences in the leage that year scoring goals was our problem
hackneyfox Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 He couldn't pass the ball to a Leicester player, so the midfield never got it, hence no goals from the strikers. If he was so good why did he end up staying in Division 3 longer than we did?
teblin Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 The thing is with kisnorbo he was good in the trenches, threw his body in to block put his head in when he might get hurt, but he wasn't a footballer. Though niether was Wayne brown and look where we got with him playing.

Houdini Logic Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 Perhaps you'd remind me of all imported attackers we've had who have done so well for us. Cos my impression of our foreign signings is that you're lucky if they merit a place in the team at all. Let's see know - there was Kaebi, Djiziri, some Italian who was signed around the same time and was never fit, a Scandinavian goalkeeper who looked poor even in the reserves, one-good-game wonder Lakzco, that guy Bori whose name was shorter than his time on the pitch, Tunchev (nice but long-time injured), Vitor who shows every sign of being from the same mould, Yann (penalty king) Kermorghant and so it goes on and on, cos the list seems endless. It really would be nice to name a list of imported foreign successes - people who have had the sort of impact on our club as the greats whose pictures are plastered around the ground but I'm struggling and nothing I've seen from the latest lot is getting me the lest bit excited. In the interest of balance, would you like me to name the non foreign players that 'done so well for us'?

hackneyfox Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 Not a foreign country, just a principality.
Simo86 Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 Not a foreign country, just a principality. You try telling a welshman its not a proper country
Bugg Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 King won't care he's from Devon Since when was Maidenhead in Devon?
Jimmy Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 Since when was Maidenhead in Devon? oh dunno why but I was under the impression that's where he was from

shen Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 How conveniently you exclude what I actually said which was:- "People who have had the sort of impact on our club as the greats whose pictures are plastered around the ground." But thanks for your list. Because a) I didn't omit anybody's name for any particular reason and b) If you think the contributions of N'Guessan, Solana, Berner, Kisnorbo and Henderson represent players who have had influence even close to that of our greats, then I rest my case. They were/are just everyday professional footballers and represent exactly my point - that we are not signing foreign players who set such an example they lift the standard of the club but have (up to Sousa's time), instead signed a long list of imports who have just been of a standard ranging from ordinary to mediocre, often to the exclusion of British talent or our own Academy trained players who could/should have done just as well or even better. I wait with interest to see how the new Foreign Legion performs and wish them good luck as I do with any players. They're going to need it given the number of senior players who seem to want out, but no matter, it's as good a time as ever for the newcomers to show they can elevate us to a new level. Cos it's about time someone did. If not, I hate to imagine the sort of implosion our club might go through. But that's the thing. Can you name any player in our recent history that deserves a mention as a 'great'? We have to go back to the O'Neill days where we, lest we forget, played in the Premier League most of the time. The standard has gone up considerably over the past ten years in all the English Leagues (hardly anyone would argue against with this) and that's also thanks to the foreign talent playing there. Surely the main reason for the influx of foreign players is very simply that they are better value than British players in general. So my counter-argument is that you have little to no basis whatsoever to suggest that British/Academy talent is as good or as viable as bringing in talent from abroad. That said, I don't necessarily disagree with your view of restraining the influx of foreign players, but that would be for other reasons.
