fleckneymike Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 You realise I was simply answering your question 'Why isn't he on the transfer list then'? I do realise that, I was raising another point which required your reply to be present in order for it to make sense.
tomtom Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Look I'm not Fryatt's biggest fan by a long shot and find the fact he misses 2 sitters then scores a blinder frustrating too, but he's not a bad player for a club of our size and if he scored every chance that came his way then he'd be playing for one of the big boys certainly not us !!
Callabinho Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 If fryatt goes ill be pi**ed off! He has been our top goalscorer for the last two years and to ship him out especially to Derby would be criminal, he may not set the world alight but he will score goals!
Joe. Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Ship off Fryatt and there's a screw lose somewhere. It'll be a shambles if Sousa believes we can rise up the table with Waghorn and Howard alone, given that none of the others are really strikers. And besides, he's shown what he can do over the past two seasons with his goals. Injured for much of last season but still comes out on top of the goal charts. Goal-scorers are a rare breed, and we've got one. He's got several flaws which all of us get annoyed about, me included, but to get rid of him would be ridiculous.
stix Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Me neither - and I really don't see that Fryatt is as good a striker as we need. All the guy's limitations that were there to see from day one are still apparent now. Yes, Fryatt is good for a few goals from 10-18 yards including penalties but he's not what I'd call a predator in the way that Jimmy Grieves was, nor does he normally score from anything over 18 yards. He's no major threat with his head, he's not a free-kick specialist, he doesn't attack the near post like Cottee, he's not especially quick or strong, he doesn't see the pictures in a creative way like the best centre-forwards, he's not the most imaginative passer and tends to cause most of his damage by turning inside onto his right foot - something that the best defenders will invariably counter. The problem for us is not in allowing him to move on - but in replacing him. Come on, its 2010!!! Jimmy fecking Greaves!! Dont make me larf!!! At the end of the day regardless of what division we were in fryatt has done the business the last two years. Granted Waghorn well and truly stepped into his shoes last season and did well so we didnt really miss him. We now have both again so for me its a no brainer, we got to keep him. Hopefully now that waggy is back Matty has took his transfer request back and now has it at home as emergency bog roll.
maddog Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 I'm not his biggest fan but why the fook is one of our best five players being linked with a move to Derby! What is going on
Guest ttfn Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Fryatt's one of the top 5 strikers in the division. There, I said it.
caz05 Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Fryatt's one of the top 5 strikers in the division. There, I said it. I agree and if he does go (especially to effing Derby)i will be effing PI$$ED OFF
Jimmy Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Fryatt's one of the top 5 strikers in the division. There, I said it. Nicky Maynard Connor Wickham Luciano Becchio Jay Bothroyd Michael Chopra Ross McCormack Rob Earnshaw Danny Graham all better then Fryatt
stix Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Nicky Maynard Connor Wickham Luciano Becchio Jay Bothroyd Michael Chopra Ross McCormack Rob Earnshaw Danny Graham all better more proven then Fryatt
Spiritwalker Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Nicky Maynard Connor Wickham Luciano Becchio Jay Bothroyd Michael Chopra Ross McCormack Rob Earnshaw Danny Graham all better then Fryatt Out of that list I would only have Maynard (long term injury), Chopra (complete tosser) and Bothroyd in my team before Fryatt.
Wymsey Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Out of them i wud leave Earnshaw out. He doesn't score that much these days
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Firstly how someone can put Becchio as one of the top strikers in the division is laughable. Secondly, he may not be the worlds greatest striker but he is more than adequate for this level. If we let him go, who would we replace him with? Perhaps he feels he has been a little disrespected at the way he ended up behind Campbell in the pecking order. That would be understandable to a certain degree. Would piss me off too. Hopefully he will see sense and buckle down to regain his place. I certainly think he deserves a little more respect as a Leicester player from some posters than he is getting. After all he signed a new contract with us a couple of years ago when there were a number of clubs interested in him and he could have walked away for a pittance that summer.
J.Lisemore Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Theres is no way Becchio is one of the best strikers in this division.
conradno1 Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Nicky Maynard Connor Wickham Luciano Becchio Jay Bothroyd Michael Chopra Ross McCormack Rob Earnshaw Danny Graham all better then Fryatt lol the two cardiff boys and maynard are the only ones better becchio is sh*t and wickham is just a kid
OzFox Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Goal-scorers are a rare breed, and we've got one. He's got several flaws which all of us get annoyed about, me included, but to get rid of him would be ridiculous. Nicely summed up. The people that complain about Fryatt would no doubt have wanted Lineker out of the club in the 80s. For every goal he scored, he missed a bag load of sitters.
Callabinho Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Nicky Maynard Connor Wickham Luciano Becchio Jay Bothroyd Michael Chopra Ross McCormack Rob Earnshaw Danny Graham all better then Fryatt He my friend is not better than Fryatt! I think its fair to say if Paulo lets Fryatt go, will that be the final straw?
foxoffderby Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Just been confirmed in todays Derby Evenimg Telegraph there is definite interest from Derby in regards to Matty Fryatt. Clough says he is interested in a loan deal to bring him to Pride Park. However, a deal has yet to be agreed.
Nick Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/8989180.stm
Jay Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/8989180.stm so basically what that says is Clough phoned up said can I have Matty Fryatt please, we said no don't want to send him to the sheep shaggers, he said if anything changes let me know, we said bye and then he decided he better tell the press
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 There is often more to a transfer request than 'throwing your toys out the pram, never going to play for you again, I want out...' etc - Fryatt has been primarily used from the bench, thus shouldn't this be seen as Fryatt attempting to put pressure on Sousa to start him? I don't know Matty personally but deep down I'd be surprised if he genuinely wanted out straight away, especially without fighting for his place...which is incidentally what Paulo has told him to do when he learnt of Derbys interest isn't it...? I think Fryatts transfer request should be viewed like this...i.e. a move designed to put pressure on Paulo to stick him in the first team If we're to play one up front with possible Waghorn floating around in a 5 man midfield, Fryatt is suited to that role down to the ground - He is, as many state on here a goalscorer, plain and simple. Paulo would be foolish to get rid of him, especially to a team in the Championship - did we learn nothing from allowing DJ to almost single handedly get another team promoted last season?
Guest ttfn Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Nicky Maynard Connor Wickham Luciano Becchio Jay Bothroyd Michael Chopra Ross McCormack Rob Earnshaw Danny Graham all better then Fryatt I did actually write my initial post without fully thinking it through. I reckon Chopra, Bothroyd, Maynard and Nugent (who you've left out) are better forwards. Danny Graham is a similar level to Fryatt. Earnshaw only scores in 3s. McCormack hasn't had a game for Cardiff for a year. Wickham's impact was pretty minimal last season, it's only because he's 17 that he gets lots of attention. Becchio is absolutely laughable, you must have been on the wind up with that one. Ultimately the point is that he is our best striker and we won't be getting anyone better in.
Matt Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 I'm a Fryatt fan but he was poor today should have come off much earlier at H/T atleast maybe before, if he doesn't want to be here and on todays viewing you have to question, he can go.
conradno1 Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 i love fryatt tbf but at cov today it seemed to me that fryatt had no passion. i dont think we should get rid i think PS needs to be a good manager and sit him down bit of man managment tell him he adores him and say your a massive part of my plans blablabla and i think that would get fatty fryatts head right and we would see the old him!
