Let's get MON back

The only way we'd get O'Neill was if it's just a temporary stop-gap job for him until something better comes along. Would fans be happy if he did that? I'm a bit uneasy about the thought of that, plus managers and players who come back to a club they were hugely successful at often never match anything they did before. But the buzz around the place would be obscene and there wouldn't be a fancy suit in suit, just a horrible tracksuit and Robertson looking hungover.

We can only dream. Things like that don't happen to us.

Leave him as a Leicester City legend.

He always will be a Leicester City legend. Does anyone honestly think that Martin O' Neill would come here and do any worse that the idiot who is in charge?

We have to at least ask.

I'm going to live in dream world today, a wonderful place where tabloids only tell the truth. The idea of O'Neill returning is far too exciting to comprehend, It almost makes me wish for a defeat tonight!

From SSN website:

Leicester chief Milan Mandaric insists that he is not about to sack Paulo Sousa.

The Portuguese coach only took charge at The Walkers Stadium in the summer, after he left Swansea.

But things have, thus far, not gone according to plan for Sousa and the Foxes currently sit bottom of the Championship.

Reports have claimed that Mandaric is looking at other options, with Martin O'Neill and Gus Poyet linked.

But Mandaric, who himself has been linked with a return to former club Portsmouth, insists no moves are afoot to replace Sousa.

"We have a long term plan and Paulo is part of that," the Leicester chairman told the Daily Mail.

MON story is all over place, mentioned on Talksport this morning and also Santa cruz is on his way…..

Where did u hear this?

I heard this rumour last week, but I just thought it was highly unlikely & did not want to post crap on the forum!

This is all lining up nicely.

Mandy has even given the dreaded vote of confidence yesterday evening.

Bye bye Paulo..

anything is possible isnt it? why do people feel the need to come on here and complain/take the piss/generally moan about people actually having a bit of positivity about our club for once?

i'd like him to come back, i think he'd be given more time than any other manager as he is a legend which is probably what is needed, and i think he could sort it out. the players would certainly have massive respect for him, and who says we wouldnt be able to give him a significant chunk of transfer money? i'd rather give the money to him than give a penny more to Sousa that's for sure!

if it doesnt happen then it doesnt happen, but i think it's pretty pointless to laugh at people when i dont believe for a second that if it happens you wont be kissing his arse as much as everyone else (including myself) would be

There's a difference between having a bit of positivity and being abjectly retarded.

There'll be fans of other clubs pissing themselves at Foxes Talk at the moment. Martin O'Neill? Roque Santa Cruz? Deary me.

let them laugh if theyre sad enough to go on someone else's forums to get their kicks- i'm sure if we went on other fan's forums they'd be spouting a load of tosh/rumour/positivity/negativity too- thats what these things are for arent they? either way, theres nothing wrong with wanting MON back here, and i'm quite happy to wait until we're officially told that he's not.

on the other hand, the Santa Cruz stuff is definitely bullshit, and I for one wouldnt want him to come here anyway. so thats the difference for me!

I was told that they were actually running the story on Sky Sports News last night. I missed it because the tight fisted bastards at Sky took it off freeview.

"O'Neill could be back at a club within weeks, more after the break"

"Unbelievably it could be with Leicester"...

Then a load of bull about the new thai owners.

These were the quotes i was given. Anyone see it?

all i saw on sky sports news yesterday (around 6-7pm) was the crapola being spouted by Milan, at which point i had to turn over to avoid being phyically sick. so i missed them running this story! however they are usually just as bad as the tabloids when it comes to using foxestalk as a basis for rumour (even if this time it is one that people would really like to be true!).

I'd hate to see O'Neill back.

Despite everything he did for us, if he came back and didn't get us promoted at the first attempt the fans would inevitably forget about where he took us and "want him out".

As unlikely as it is that MON will ever return, there is a bit of truth in the above post. One of the most recent examples of a "legendary" manager (in the eyes of the club) going back to manage a club for a second spell was Paul Sturrock at Plymouth......two consec. promotions in the early 00s but then mediocrity and disaster when he went back for second helpings. The same could happen to MON if he returned, even though our league position amd situation isn't too different from when he took over from McGhee leaving us in the lurch in the "second tier", circa late '95........

From the Gurdian.co.uk

This broadsheet doesn't have a reputaion of making up stories does it? I remember they were one of the first to report the Thai takeover.

Martin O'Neill to Leicester City?

Martin O'Neill will be asked to return to Leicester if Paulo Sousa doesn't conjure a couple of decent results soon, even though the chairman Milan Mandaric insists "we have a long term plan and Paulo's part of it".
