fatmando Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Thank god this is nearly over for another year.
jonthefox Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Thank god this is nearly over for another year. Took the words out of my mouth.
z-layrex Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 The runner up is usually better off. Matt will do hardly anything now for a year, just another label-puppet. Rebecca will have a great, free career now and she deserves it.
Unabomber Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Im still not over the fact Rydian didn't win all those years ago.

I can't see her making her soul, motown style and sound that popular and getting the airplay which is needed to sell records.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Im still not over the fact Rydian didn't win all those years ago. I'm still livid over Javine not making it into Girls Aloud.
Libertine Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 YEEEEH BABY. Bit disappointed in a way though, as he's actually a good artist and probably would have been better off not winning.
skinnydipper Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Couldn't give a shit to be honest. The show's become too "Brianised" with over produced studio performances and sycophantic judges The only thing worth watching it for now is the auditions (Victorian Freak Show stage) with all the nutters. Now that's what I call entertainment.

skinnydipper Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Don't the winners actually end up being pretty average post X-Factor and actually the runners-up have a more succesful career... Probably. It's not the contestants that grate. Good luck to them. It's the phoney process that is after all just a cash cow for Cowell and but a part of the overall dumbing down of present day tv entertInment
Guest DavidJCW Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Pff... what a joke. Matt winning was awful as he's sounded rubbish for weeks. However, I take comfort in the fact that come next year, it'll be Matt who? as Rebecca storms to chart success worldwide with her stunning voice.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Personally thought Rebecca was a one trick pony, myself. Can't understand why people adore her and the false accent she slaps on when she sings, sounds forced. Paije probably had the best voice in this competition, in honesty. Him or Treyc.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Paije was good... there's no denying that, but he was forgettable in one too many of his performances. I personally thought that his version of Ain't Nobody was brilliant... but he was never going to win. Same with Treyc really... she had a stunning voice, but again was forgettable and never really seemed to connect with the public. God knows why as she was brilliant and certainly deserved to stay longer than Wagner, Katie and several others. But come off it... Rebecca a one trick pony? False? Forced? People sound different when they sing, end of... she had a unique and really quite special voice that would be brilliant singing Norah Jones / Katie Melua / Duffy / Adele type songs. If you don't like that sort of music, fair enough, but to question why people would like her is baffling when she is so good. And then there's Matt... another boring, same old male voice who can hit some high notes... I wouldn't even have minded him winning if he was actually anything new or vaguely different but he's not. He's boring, has a voice pretty much exactly like Blunt or Morrison, looks like a right scruff, is a complete male **** in that he virtually trips over himself looking for the next bird to shag and generally seems rather fake. Now, a lot of it could just be crap I've read and heard from people... but it's not often they're too far from the truth when it comes to these things...

The programme is designed/edited to give certain people more airtime and publicity, so more people ring up. They were the best singers there but Cowell didn't see fit to promote them the same way he did Cher or One Direction. Both acts completely devoid of any personailty and lacking any discernable talent, but both praised by Cowell week in, week out, and both followed throughout the series from their original audition to the final live shows (in One Direction's case it followed the five of them seperatley until the group formed). Someone like Wagner lasted as long as he did because Cowell's a very clever man, who knows that by creating 'pantomime villain' type characters, will get more gullible twats ringing up, and making him more moolah, whereas acts he doesn't hype up beyond belief seem to get cast aside as 'boring.' Your post being an example of this branding.

Agree with this, for example last year when Joe Mcelderry won, he got the most air time after about 4 live shows, so it was all deemed for him to come through and win it. I think it is fixed in some ways, but they do it very discreetly.
