Thracian Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Sven had been here before Gradel left. I've just been watching Gradel's performance against S****horpe and wondering how mindless it was to let him go. Used as he should be the lad was immense, scoring and making goals. Already, in his short time here, Sven has shown signs of being able to squeeze the best out of people. Gallagher seems much more involved and dangerous. King's roll seems to have been extended. Abe is playing in position and looking confident, Wellens is becoming far more complete as a player. I just think that with the ability and movement in our side now Gradel would have been such an asset. I know he's gone but he was every bit as good as Kingy in his way and it just seems such a waste. Gradel liked it here. So I just wonder why Pearson wasted him so much.
whitlock Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Stop living in the past! Gradel will never make a premiership player, he is way too inconsistent, wrong decision making etc. As much as gally gets slated by a few, i would 100% pick him over Gradel. Would Gradel be making so many opportunities against a better team? No offence but it is scunny? All i will remember Gradel for is that free kick against MK Dons, last minute!
Bryn Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 I would also have retained Gradel, but there's very little point in worrying about it now. He wouldn't be the difference between success and disaster.
conradno1 Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 i think it was of nigels worse decisions (only made one more need i say he was a left back) but he bought in plenty of good to compensate , i sometimes think i wish we still had gradel on them days were we have no pace on the right ie oakley but we cant live in the past

Oh and 3 more words. Get over it.
Ashley Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 We don't and didn't need him, he was a rotten egg in the team with the wrong attitude, why have players around like them to effect team morale? why do you think Pearson got rid of him?
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Was waiting for this thread to appear....

Salieri Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 I actually agree with Thracian and was gutted when he was sold, we are still crying out for a decent right winger and Gradel could have been the man for the job. That said, he has moved on and so should we.
Ric Flair Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Would love him back here! He's now learnt how to cross the ball which was one of his few weaknesses, he's so talented. We were stupid to sell him, one of NP's mistakes.

All i will remember Gradel for is that free kick against MK Dons, last minute! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leeds_united/default.stm I'd just love this kind of "inconsistency". But what I'd point out is the difference in the player. He's crossing the ball early and accurately, he's coming in from wide positions and shooting, he's asking questions in the business areas of the pitch. All abilities which represent the polishing up of the raw material everyone but Pearson and a few of our fans always knew he had. Not good enough for the Premiership? You're kidding me. I've seen a lot worse even at today's level and I'm sure he can improve still more. Goalscoring wingers are like gold but pre-Sven, we just didn't seem to understand it and would rather use central midfielders out there as defensive insurance.
MC Prussian Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Well, he's gone. Unless we're putting in another bid for him, he won't ever play for Leicester again. (Probably as useless a reply as is this thread overall) There is a life after Max Gradel, you know.
Yokofoxes Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 that free kick against MK Dons, last minute! I just got slightly aroused thinking of that.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Thracian, surely you're happy that his job is now being done by proper native white people? (Except when it's Abe )
lcfcsnow Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 i think it was of nigels worse decisions (only made one more need i say he was a left back) One Scottish right back and French forward on 3 year contracts were pretty big fails by Pearson. Maybe he'd have blossomed under Sven, maybe not. But the signs are there that we will get better than Max Gradel by next Summer anyway. And Gradel didn't have to leave,I think it was more Pearson driving Gradel out though as he couldn't handle him. A big flaw in his management as I said from the beginning, and those flaws are becoming obvious now.
Finnegan Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Leeds fans have him down as frustrating, selfish and inconsistent, which is largely what we saw too. Don't see that he's miles better than Moussa or DNG.
Bugg Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Thracian in thinking academy graduates are better than they are shocker!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Thracian in thinking academy graduates are better than they are shocker! Wheres Ricky Sappleton? If he'd have never left, we'd have never plunged to league one. I hope in January, Top is going to launch a staggering bid, that no-one can reject. In all seriousness, Gradel's gone, he wasnt that good, he wouldnt get in the squad now, dont lose sleep about it
Wymsey Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 This thread's making me to think twice whether being a lcfc fan is good
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 7 November 2010 Posted 7 November 2010 Gradel was exciting at times, and there was a great song which I loved. Other than the last min freekick at MK Dons, he was awesome as a 2nd half impact sub at Fulham in the cup. Scared the shit outta them. But generally too inconsistent and not the answer in the direction we're heading.
Zingari Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 ............we hadn't dropped Ken Leek for the ' 61 FA cup final . he'd scored in every fookin round . What's going on ?
FoxyPV Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 We had a striker who could score on a consistent basis.
