MrSpaM Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 wonder who the big name recruit it. Heskey anyone? haha Ian Ormondroyd coming out of retirement
Darkon84 Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 wonder who the big name recruit it. Heskey anyone? haha Freddie Ljungberg, as he's just come out (not in a gay way), but saying that in Janurary he is looking for a move back to England and is already assessing options.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 It's not the first time Sven has unloaded before, so i'm not surprised.
davieG Posted 8 December 2010 Author Posted 8 December 2010 It's not the first time Sven has unloaded before, so i'm not surprised. Football or Women
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 i really don't think cunningham is an improvement on berner Neither do I! How badly did we miss Berner for that period he was injured last season? As soon as he was back the ship steadied almost straight away
Zingari Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Neither do I! How badly did we miss Berner for that period he was injured last season? As soon as he was back the ship steadied almost straight away yep , the words bathwater and baby seem to come to mind
Kitchandro Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Can't fault what he says there. The only concern I have in all of that is that "the owners want a big name signing". Fuck off out of fiddling with the team and go sell some more dodgy duty free. Sven should be under no pressure whatsoever to get a "big name". He should only buy players that fit into what he wants to achieve with the squad. Yeh I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. This is what makes me think Pearson going was something to do with the new owners, he wouldn't have put up with it. We don't need big name signings unless they will be better than the ones we've got. 'Big name' isn't a criteria for buying players - 'big talent' or 'big experience' fair enough. But absolutely no way should the owners be involved in team affairs. Ever.
MPH Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I wouldn't be too disappointed if we made a sneaky bid for Berner. Does Sven plan on getting your loans in full time then? He's got cunningham on loan until the end of the season , which is berners position.... so you might have a chance...
Kitchandro Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Agree, also it rarely works and risks upsetting the team dynamics, imagine what would happen if we signed someone like Becks, it would become Beck's City FC. That's exactly what I'd be worried about If it got to that stage I'd be pretty hacked off
I am Rod Hull Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I think our owners are alot more sensible than those morons Gold and Sullivan at West Ham.
Kitchandro Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I think our owners are alot more sensible than those morons Gold and Sullivan at West Ham. What makes you say that?
FoxyPV Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Surprised he named Bruno, but for the rest, I can't really complain. As others had said there's nothing unusual in what he has said but the way he said it was class. We won't get Messi, maybe Pedro on loan for the rest of the season.
I am Rod Hull Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 *I think*. And the fact that Gold and Sullivan are prize idiots.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Presumably this means sven's main target are those already on loan at the club then? If he's saying that the players that have been replaced can leave?
surrifox Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I think our owners are alot more sensible than those morons Gold and Sullivan at West Ham. that moron Ashley at Newcastle
Kitchandro Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I like Cunningham but he's still got a bit to learn. Was Bruno fit earlier in the season? Because there seemed a lot of players who weren't. He's an experienced defender and a good player, he just seemed to have lost a yard of pace over the summer. I'd begutted if he left. I think we still need him.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Don't mind him unloading unhappy players so long as he's got permanent replacements, rather than just loans.
Webbo Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I think it's more of a case of allowing players to leave if they want to not forcing them out of the door, which is only fair. Mainly I think this is to soften us up before fans favourites (to some of us anyway) like Fryatt and Berner are sold.
nickelbyfox Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Wonder what will happen with the likes of Neilson, Lamey, Kennedy, N'Guessan, Logan. Can see Moreno getting a games when Abe is away but those 5 can have very little hope of playing at the club any more
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I've always liked Berner, but would a permanent move for Cunningham really be beyond the realms of possibility? It's hardly as if whoever takes the manager's job at Man City will be given time to blood youth. It's all about instant success for their owners. I can't fancy Cunningham wanting to stick around while more established players are constantly being bought in ahead of him either. Wouldn't think Naughton would be too unrealistic. Offer £1 million for each.
Jakemoore Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I think he mentioned Berner to give a prime example to back up his point. I don't think we should read in to it so much as he could have easily said Fryatt or Waggers. They're just three players who could easily be in the first 11.
foxoffderby Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I for one am quite happy with Svens comments. Its a statement of intent. He's saying he wants quality addiitions in January and only 11 can start. It shows ambition some will have to go to make way way for others who in his thinking are not good enough. If we talk about Berner he was very good in League1 ok in the Championship. He scores goals but is suspect defending I've seen him have many shocking displays for us as well as some outstanding ones. The fact is hes not consistent enough to be in the team. He's been terrible in the few games hes played this season. I've got full faith in Sven to get the right mix.
Wymsey Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Who would you lot consider unhappy then. Fryatt yes. Bruno, Dyer, (not starting matches) Waghorn and Morrison most likely imo
Darkon84 Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 Who would you lot consider unhappy then. Fryatt yes. Bruno, Dyer, (not starting matches) Waghorn and Morrison most likely imo I'd agree with that. fryatt definately, and waghorn too, he must feel he was brought here under false pretenses now. Getting such a great reception and almost hailed as a messiah, now he barely plays, and mostly out of position.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 I'd agree with that. fryatt definitely, and waghorn too, he must feel he was brought here under false pretences now. Getting such a great reception and almost hailed as a messiah, now he barely plays, and mostly out of position. How was Waghorn brought in under false pretences? The fact is that he has not nearly produced the same level of performance that he was producing in the latter half of last season. He needs to work harder if he wants in. As for Fryatt I wonder if Hull will be calling for him in January. Seems like it would be a good move for both Hull and Leicester. We get rid of a mardy arse and he can rejoin the only manager I have seen capable of building his fragile confidence enough to be an actual goal threat.
