Last season's top scorer has started just six games this term. And the arrival of Roman Bednar and Darius Vassell has seen him slip further down the pecking order. Eriksson told BBC Radio Leicester: "There were clubs interested. But he said 'I want to stay and fight' and I am more than happy about that." Eriksson added: "If it will be something different in January I don't know. "Maybe he hasn't shown his best so far but I know that last season he did very well. He's young; he is a good talent and if he wants to stay and fight then sooner or later he will play." Foxes coach Derek Fazackerley said that Fryatt, who scored 13 goals last season, has become frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities. And Eriksson said he would not stand in the forward's way if he wants to leave. "It's the same with him as for the other players; if he is not happy to stay then he shouldn't stay," Eriksson said. Guest Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 At least it shows he has the right attitude. Something some people on here slate him for consistently. As you say January may be a different matter but it looks like Sven has the same attitude with everyone, you've gotta prove yourself to be the best to get in the first team.

Whether it be at the club he is loaned to or by impressing another teams manager when he plays games. Therefore your comment becomes completely invalid and an unnecessary and inaccurate dig at Fryatt.

This. From what people have been saying it sounds like the only game he put up a real fight in was the Norwich match, and the consequence was that he got sent off...Haven't really seen anything like his ability from last season since then.
hackneyfox Posted 8 December 2010 Posted 8 December 2010 So Sven is saying that he isn't happy and doesn't smile in the mornings. If you aren't happy then you can leave in January. A public kick up the arse, let's hope it works, he and Bednar are, on paper, a great pairing and Pearson was allegedly trying to sign both. I don't expect to see him play for us again though, as I expect to see Bednar and Vassel improve, we have Waghorn and Sven has another striker currently on trial and is hopefully signing a goal scorer in January.

It was a perfectly fair comment, and I've no idea how you can say it was inaccurate when neither of us really know what he's thinking. Only two weeks later than the original comment. BAM.

Only two weeks later than the original comment. BAM. Fair point on your part ^^^ Hope Fryatt stays, you do not lose your touch over one summer. Give him a chance and he will score goals for us, he has proved that in the past. I feel sorry for the bloke he has been our most prolific striker for the last two seasons and now hes not even on the bench most games. We all know he is gash when he comes off the bench, he isn't that type of player. Fryatt needs starts and judging by the recent performances of Vassell i cant see for the life of me see why he is picked ahead of the likes of Fryatt and Waghorn. In fact doesn't Fryatt have 4 goals this season in 8 appearances? The only striker bettering that is Gallagher with 5 but he has played 17, Waghorn has 3 in 17 appearances, Vassell has 1 in 7 appearances. Even Nielson is as prolific as vassell with 1 in 7. So on those stats do we still think Fryatt should be behind 1 goal Vassell, 3 goals Waghorn and 0 goals Bednar in the pecking order? I will leave that up to you to decide.
MPH Posted 22 December 2010 Posted 22 December 2010 When players leave it isn't always about them not being good enough or not They might want to move, might not like all the changing going on, might not be given the chances... so many things can affect the chances or lack of chances they get. It could just be the right time for him to go. All players move on eventually.

Unfortunately Fryatt can only prove himself in training, and that's not always an indicator of performance on the pitch. He has the disadvantage, too, of not being as sharp/fit as those who are currently playing in the team, so he has to come from behind (so to speak!). It becomes a catch-22 situation.
