Ipswich Town away Post-Match Thread

losing to watford and ipswich would be less annoying if they hadnt both gone 7 without a win prior to playing city and then put 3 past our "all premiership" defence.

Sven clearly has to address why we have suddenly looked so $hite away from home and why Davies and co look no more secure than the defence we had in league 1

I dont know what to say about that shit yesterday, I must have drank a whole bottle of jameson i was that fu**ed off. Angry that it was even played but also cant believe how shit our lads were against a nothing club like Ipswich.

The game was decided when Ipswich won the toss. They chose to attack the end of the ground that had heavier snow, and profited from the thicker carpet of snow in our penalty area. The first goal came from us being unable to clear the ball out of the box, and the third occured when Abe got caught on the ball, because it got stuck in the snow in our box. They deserved the win, but the whole game was a farce. I've seen better games of football on school playgrounds.

When the game was stopped, we should have got changed and left - Refused to play on. At least that way we wouldn't have just slumped to a defeat, the Ref might have been forced to end it.

A couple of teams I played for in the Leicester Sunday League (long time ago) did that - had a weedy ref with no backbone - mind, perhaps on memory if the kick off was late we were more worried about the pub opening........

Watford, Bristol City, and Ipswich were all on bad runs and each of them ended there runs against a Leicester.

Forget last night's bad weather, that just masked what we really are.

AWAY FROM HOME WE ARE MEDIOCRE AND INFERIOR to hard battling sides, most of the time we dont turn up!

in short A SOFT TOUCH, THATS WHAT WE ARE!!!

No, what I like to see is a game played on some aspect of grass. By half-time there was no grass to be seen, just a carpet of snow.

We lost the game because Ipswich took their chances, but as a spectacle it was dreadful, Ipswich misplaced plenty of passes as well, they just had a striker who took his opportunities.

A striker who took his opportunities! How we need one of those, time for a new Christmas wish list to Santa!

We do, as has been identified many times on this forum.

Well I think I have just read about 10 pages of absolute crap from nearly all you foxestalk posters!

The only reason this game started and was allowed to finish was because it was on Sky. Money has killed football and this game is my final straw because I am making this my last ever season supporting Leicester. Sky have totally ruined football and they say the premier league is the richest league in the world well thats bullshit because it is the poorest and most debt ridden. Who wants to go up into that shit anyway? It wont be long before a big club goes bust, nearly happened with Liverpool and think Chelsea will go first, hopefully!

A few points about the game, shouldn't have been played, we were crap, atwell is a **** etc...

I mentioned this last week when everyone was wanking over the Dyer/Vassell/Gallagher up front combo, why don't we play like that every week!

This game proved my point, we can't play like that every week, because against some teams in some conditions it is not going to work. I can't believe Sven didn't realise that before the start of the game. Howard should have started, probably switched to a 442, with Waghorn playing with Howard to add a bit of extra muscle. I would have played Wellens and Abe in the middle, I would have brought in Berner at Left back and played Dyer left wing and brought in Neilsen at right back and pushed Naughton forward and Hobbs in at CB oh and Weale in goal. We did not need pacy wing backs to bomb up the flanks or cultured centre backs who can run with the ball, we needed a solid base to attack from, we needed two ball winners in the middle and a big man up front.

Yes I would have dropped King, as much as I am a big fan of his he is often the first to go missing in matches. We needed players who would fight for the club, put their lives on the line for the club and work their bollox off. We also needed some no nonsense hoof ball at times. All the players I've mentioned have fought for this club in the past, Berner, Waghorn, Howard, Neilsen, Hobbs, Weale. Not our best players, but they are usually committed performers and more importantly they are ours.

The thing is though it wouldn't have worked, Sven has made it very clear from the start that he doesn't want these players, they have pretty much not featured since he took over and they are on their way out. Can you imagine how you would feel if you had been frozen out of the team for three months and then get picked for the first time to play in a blizzard? Fryatt may have been poor but can you blame him, he has hardly played any football for months and then gets thrown onto an ice rink to play. As for the other payers, as someone mentioned before if you are a loanee looking for a club you don't want to get inured before January, if you are just looking for a bit of a run out in a first team, you don't want to play in a blizzard.

My main criticism is why did we line up like we were at home to Donny on a sunny day? We needed an ugly hard working performance, we needed a Pearson type team to play in Pearson's way. The sooner Sven realises this the better. When we play nice football and score 5 goals great, when we come up against a tough team in difficult conditions we need something else. We need a Wayne Brown to stick it in row Z or a Howard to bundle one in from a corner  .

What will be typical now is against Leeds, when we are at home against a team that will let us play a bit we stick Howard up front and play hoofball!!! We have a squad to play in and adapt to different conditions, against different teams, for god's sake Sven use them.

You've just mentioned what a lot of others have. What's your point?

:appl:

Needed a bit more meat out there today, our lightweight guys like Abe, Dyer, Naughton etc were bulldozed by a Keane side hellbent on stopping the rot. We were too easily knocked around and you can't really expect pacy players to stand up on that surface. It was the perfect time to revert to the League 1 Howard/Fryatt one dimensional option.

Absolute bullshit.

All the forums have been full of all week is that Vassell should play through the middle and Dyer should start.

This game should not have gone ahead but as it has we now have to put up with all this bullshit until the next game.

I dont mean to punt at you personally but it's fooking nonsense.

Why don´t let him takeover Leicester blues!

He know how to make big wins and perhaps he is cheaper then Sven?

I would be cheaper than Sven.

We have a big squad we have different types of players in different positions, we should use them, if we don't we will lose them.

On an ice rink you can't play pretty football you need players to get stuck in, we have some of those players. I am not saying Berner, for example, is better than Cunningham, but he would have been better yesterday, he will be more effective away from home against some teams that will attack our full backs and stop us using them as an outlet down the flanks. We need a plan B.

It's great that we can play pretty football, but against some teams we need to be able to play ugly, the problem is our ugly players have barely kicked a ball in anger under Sven and throwing them in to play in that yesterday would probably not have produced a great result.

I've said this before, Sven's treatment of Pearson's successful squad of last season, King and Wellens aside has been pretty poor, and I would be pretty pissed off if I was them. They didn't nearly make the play offs because they were the best team in the league it was because they worked hard, knew how to shut up shop and defend and fight for the team. What we needed yesterday.

You think wholesale changes in January will help, you think bringing in 5-6 players is the best thing? The success we had under Pearson was through stability, organisation and commitment. These commodities are more important in the Championship than skill on the ball and smooth passing. Look at Gallagher our most technically gifted player, great passer, got great control, can play the killer ball and he has a mean shot on him. He is not effective down here, when the going gets tough he gets going. That seems to run through the whole team at the moment. We need to be able to grind out a result when things aren't going our way, at the moment we can't do that.

I dont know what to say about that shit yesterday, I must have drank a whole bottle of jameson i was that fu**ed off. Angry that it was even played but also cant believe how shit our lads were against a nothing club like Ipswich.

Abe should never have tried to dribble in that position. He should have cleared the ball first time. I watched him four times in the television replays and he tried to dribble every time. We were imploring him to welly the ball even 10 minutes after the end of the game but he still took an extra touch as the ball stuck in the snow! The bloke never learned!. lol

I think you and I should bury the hatchet and start afresh, get off on the right foot...

... You'll bring the Jameson right? ^_^
