Just watched the ice hockey when does the football match start?

Also, if the ref has to drag the players off for 10 minutes then there's no question that the game should be called off.

We've had two players injured due to the conditions. No doubt in my mind about that.

Whether it should've been called off or not, we still had a game to play and we didn't turn up.

We offered nothing and didn't deserve anything from the most farcical game we'll play this season

You can say that but arguably if the lads had gone out and thrown themselves into it we could be looking at 5 or 6 injuries due to the conditions instead of just the two.

I don't blame the lads for tonight at all. Although Howard was clearly far too pissed off to play properly.

Poor performance, but everyone knows it should have been off.

If I was Sven I'd currnetly be writing a very long letter to the FA complaining about Attwell, though I guess nothing will come of it.

Well weren't that a load of shit? If that hadn't been on telly it wouldn't have even started. Same for both sides though.

i don't know about that, any other manager and the fa would disregard it/fine him but with sven's reputation and past with the fa they might well listen a bit more.

Can't believe it werent called off but oh well. Still a good laugh. Kevin and Perry on Coach 2 here we come lol

Hope we make a complaint to the League/FA whoever. If the game had to be stopped for 18 minutes, surely conditions were unsuitable- how can you stop a game for that long in the middle of a match!

And how we're the conditions any better than when with 20 minutes to go, from when he stopped the game. No consistency. Would love to see what he says/thought about the conditions. Complaint needs to be made. Joke of a referee.

Sure, the game should never have been played but would the result have been any different with a white ball on green grass? Heard alot about City's 'injured' players as a result of the conditions but not about any injured Ipswich players -- were the conditions the same for both teams? The attitude / organisation of the defence was no different to any other away game and to change the keeper after a 5-1 win....well Kirkland is great at picking the ball out of his own net - plenty of practice at Wigan.

I'm going to throw up after that.

We couldn't even kick a ball properly. Fact is that the game probably should have been called off, but both teams had to play on the same surface. Obviously they managed to take advantage of a shocking game of football. You can't deny that we reacted badly to the decisions that were made.

Could see this coming really though. Bring on the transfer window...

Who do you bring in though Mote? Kirkland is the goalkeeping version of Darren Anderton, and I am just not feeling it with Davies, not entirely sure we are more solid with Cunningham then we were with Bruno, and Bruno scored a few last year aswell, of course Bruno hasn't got the legs but we're not defending as a unit and its alarm bells away from home because the away form is as bad as fooking Sousa's spell. For me only Naughton is worth some green at the moment.

Hard to believe that in August we needed 2-3 players to create a potentially championship winning team, now its just 2-3 from last season that feature regularly.

Could see this coming....

Sven summed up the game when asked if the game should have been played. His reply was 'not with the football we want to play'. Time to realise that teams aren't going to let us play football around them and if we want to progress up the league, we have to show a lot more character in games like this.

In weather like this you usually have a team that will roll up their sleaves / up for it and a team that want the game off. It was clear which team we were today.

10 out of 10 to Ipswich today - they wanted it more, players, staff and the 35 people clearing the pitch!

Lets move onto Leeds, hope the sun is out and Grayson lets us play the football we want to play...

Everything about this game was a joke.

The conditions were a joke and Atwell is not fit to referee because there is no doubt that had there been no score we would not have played on, and that just shows how Atwell crumbled under pressure because he's just shite.

However, there is no getting away from the fact that we were fooking laughable, we deserved to loose and it disappoints me more than anything

The players were only ever bothered about getting it abandoned and even though they had a poin they should not have been making it to the ref, they clearly weren't in the game and because of it we've missed a GOLDEN opportunity to go 7th. 7th for ****s sake.

We will not get out of this division if we don't start performing from the first whistle.

Spot on, if it was 0-0 at half time it would of been called off they said so how does them being 3-0 up and go out for second half make the conditions better? if anything there was nearly another 1" of snow!

THE REF NEEDS SHOOTING.

The thing which galls me about the whole situation is this; if the commentators, analysts and even Sven are saying that if the game was 0-0, it would be abandoned then surely this in itself is an admission that conditions are unsuitable for football? What else does this therefore show other than to underline that the referee did not have the b*llocks to abandon the game because the Ipswich camp would go insane. What would have happened if we were leading 1-0 at HT? I think we know the answer.

Having said that, our effort was abysmal in the first half. Curtis Davies needs a rocket up him as well, has tailed right off (although it looks like that was probably the last time we'll see him if he's injured).

I refuse to judge any players based on tonight, I'll judge them on how they fair on grass not snow and ice.

I will question Sven's judgement to stick with our usual style for so long in those conditions. You can't play fast, short passing football on snow.

Some of our fans are worse than our side. Clutching at straws about the weather. Yes, in today's health and safety conscious society the game was probably completed cos of television. But only one team failed to adapt to the conditions and that was ours.

That pitch was perfectly playable and of little danger to anyone. Second half we were harrranging the referee and looking for excuses for our pathetic performance.

How does a highly-paid manager spend a week working hard with his team and inspire that sort of shit?

We didn't want to know. We were second to the ball, looked like we were wearing the wrong studs, ludicrously wanted to run with the ball instead of getting it fast into danger areas, couldn't control anything and were totally disorganised.

The first requirement of any game - and particularly when playing in the snow - is to close people down and harrass them into making mistakes. We couldn't close a sodding bank account. In fact our team was so late to the ball it's a wonder they didn't all turn into pumpkins.

And where the hell did we get Kirkland from? He was about as inspiring as a hot-air balloon with a puncture. In fact he looked half-asleep in the first half and not so much better even in the quietness of the second half.

And what a disgrace to our club our team was. We weren't ever interested or determined to claw back the deficit. All we were interested in second half was making excuses about the weather and trying to persuade the referee to wipe a 3-0 deficit that was all down to ourselves.

Yes the snow demanded some adjustment. But no, we were too sodding arrogant and wimpish to adjust. We were like little kids who didn't want to play and kept asking the referee t give us our ball back so we could go home.

One thing you can guarantee with a Roy Keane side is that they will compete and not make excuses. He must have been embarrassed by how pathetic we were.

I wonder how much our team cost compared to The Tractor Boys. It would make you sick cos they didn't earn a penny and if they've got any character they should donate every penny of their earnings to a kids charity.

And who the hell wanted Fryatt on the field? With his two simple, unchallenged passes to the wing it's a wonder he didn't miss the pitch completely.

Someone needs to tell Suave Sven that a football season comprises as many away League games as there are home games and that conditions of play vary.

Furthermore the first requirement of any team is to compete. Cos if you don't compete you don't get the ball and if you don't get the ball you get your arse whipped.

Ipswich turned up. We stayed home in the warmth of our imagination.

No reason and no sodding excuses.

If Svven wants a fine weather contract he should ask and leave someone else to cope when it rains, snows or turns windy.

Anyone can put a decent team together with endless funds. But it takes someone special to make just anyone play, anytime, anywhere. Time for the man to stand up in my view and for his team to do the same.

Cos no-one's going to let us play all our games at home in the sodding sunshine.

There are so many things I agree and disagree with in your post but I have to applaud the humour of this line!

I was waiting for someone to mention Fryatt, Gradel scored twice today as well if you hadn't noticed...

Never takes long does it ?

And i bet you any money Gradel scores against us.

Couldnt agree more - the jury is still out on Sven

See what Ipswich did?

That.

Doesn't answer my question. What tactics are you supposed to play in snowy conditions?

Thrac has said you run and harry them into making mistakes. The fact there is a discussion about how you have to play on snowy conditions is tantamount to an admission that the conditions are not suitable. None of the top teams would have played on that surface because of the risk to injury. Chelsea-Man Utd was called off this morning even though the game is scheduled for tomorrow. That is correct decision-making by the Premier League. On today's showing, if Attwell was referee for that game tomorrow, he'd have the ground staff sweeping the pitch markings overnight and calling the game on.
