shailen Posted 19 December 2010 Posted 19 December 2010 this topic is a joke! Sven has done well for the club since sousa has left we have won 7, drawn 2 and lost 4. On that form we would near the top of the table. It was only one game ago where we beat donny and everyone was going crazy about promotion and play offs..etc and now one defeat later, its all gone wrong. Its only one game but i do agree our away form needs sorting!
Captain... Posted 19 December 2010 Posted 19 December 2010 Sven is a good manager and has managed many great teams in some of the best leagues in the world. This isn't one of them. In the championship you need some no nonsense players. I think we really miss a Wayne Brown type player. I don't blame Sven, but he will have the same problems Sousa had with getting us to play pretty football. We are playing in the Championship not la Liga, and I think Chris Powell and others should be telling him this, he's never managed at this level before. It is no surprise that we are doing much better at home, we have a bit more time on the ball while the opposition looks to keep it tight and not concede in the first 30 minutes. Sit back and hit us on the break, we have the pace with the full backs to cope with that, and with a 4-3-3 we have the players buzzing around and creating space. Away from home it's different, they are not going to sit back they are going to come on to us, attack us pressure us, Sven needs to adopt away from home tactics, because at the moment it isn't working. I am confident we will have a good season, and make the play offs, but we need to get these loanees tied up to permanent deals, Naughton, Davies, Cunningham, or sent back, Kirkland or Bednar. I also think we need to sign a captain, because King isn't up to it, yet.
Stuliasz Posted 19 December 2010 Posted 19 December 2010 I also think we need to sign a captain, because King isn't up to it, yet. Please explain to me how exactly you 'sign a captain'.
J.Lisemore Posted 19 December 2010 Posted 19 December 2010 Before yesterday we were the form team in the Championship. God knows what people actually expect from us?! Yes our away form needs sorting out and we aren't exactly solid at the back but they'll be addressed. Sick of all this moaning. I agree with this. Were not going to win all the fooking time after the abysmal start we had. Sven has done well in just steadying the ship, be grateful for that.
Daggers Posted 19 December 2010 Posted 19 December 2010 Please explain to me how exactly you 'sign a captain'. Well, in Treasure Island they wandered around seedy bars talking loudly of their plans to go find buried doubloons. It's a long shot but it might just work.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 Sven is a good manager :sge: however i was actually in Glasgow when Leicester played away at Ipswich live on Sky, in a glaswegian pub full of GERS fans i confidently predicted Leicester City would win as Quote "they have been playing some good football recently" on to be tapped on the shoulder as i was saying that by Jocko McJock who said look Ipswich have just scored, followed by the rest of the horror show that followed - talk about feeling like a complete and utter fool - i made some lame excuses and left at half time!!!!!!! Come on City - lets get our away form sorted!!!! Come on Sven sort em out!!
SeattleShane Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 For everyone saying that Leicester should play one up front away from home. Can you please tell me when we have ever won by playing this formation?
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 I was agreeing with the OP until he mentioned the return of Oakley. Experienced yes, but captaincy material - no. What did he ever show for us? King seems way too quiet and anonymous. Wellens is vocal but a bit reckless, not a great example. Howard has the passion, but lets his frustrations boil over and probably won't play 90 mins in most games. Hobbs has great potential, but still young and has never shown much visible leadership to me. I can't see a loanee or Yuki getting the role, no other first teamer really shows any signs of being the leader we need. I think Wellens is the only realistic option - not perfect, but probably the best of what we have.
AmyLGK Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 Some of the replies in this topic are a joke. Sven has turned things around for us in no time at all - identified our weaknesess and remidied them with some incredible loan payers. Got us playing some spectacular football, seemingly has the respect of the players,is loyal and hardworking, says it how it is. We're not condistant in our performances yet but that'll take time, and I'm not counting sats game as just another loss away from home cause it should never have been played. Sven is a legend and I trust in everything he's doing!
Finnegan Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 Well, in Treasure Island they wandered around seedy bars talking loudly of their plans to go find buried doubloons. It's a long shot but it might just work. Was he not an associate of Squire Trelawney? Smollett doesn't seem the type to do rowdy bars.
Socks Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 New guy here! I personally dont think Sven is the man for us. I dont think he will be here end of season. He just cant get us to come out in the 1st Half all guns blazing. It always takes a 2nd half rollocking to do it. We will struggle this season to get into the playoffs.
Babylon Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 I personally dont think Sven is the man for us. Seriously, I know people are entitled to their own opinion but what exactly do people expect? Going off the games since he took over we would have been top, how in gods name can people not see that, and see that we've done well under him.
Finnegan Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 I would love to know who these people think we'd replace Sven with.
Babylon Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 I would love to know who these people think we'd replace Sven with. Paulo Sousa did well at Swansea.
Callabinho Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 Just wait until Sven signs some quality in jan, then we will be flying!
wirralsimon Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 There is something quite demoralising about this thread. We lost an away game in the snow. It was awful to watch and we should have done better, but some people are reading way too much into it. Expecting us to be in the playoff places within a few weeks of getting a new manager is ridiculous. Judge Sven after the transfer window rather than on what he can do with someone elses team and some loanees. Simon
Jon the Hat Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 It would have been easier if the OP had taken a photo of himself and posted it in the "I look like a Dick" thread.
Corky Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 We will struggle this season to get into the playoffs. If we don't reach the play-offs then we use the summer to allow Sven to get the squad he wants together. It's not the end of the world. I would love to know who these people think we'd replace Sven with. Rob Kelly's available. And that Martin Allen is too.
Wymsey Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 Naughty with women and needs more aggression from the players to get better results
Babylon Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 Expecting us to be in the playoff places within a few weeks of getting a new manager is ridiculous. This is the problem, even when we were top of the form table we were only gaining on the leading pack by about 2 points over 8 games. At that rate you are looking at the last few games of the season before we'd break in with that pack. You can't give people a nine game head start and expect it to be easy to catch them.
Lcfcman2010 Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 I do wonder why i bother looking at this site! We were shocking in the snow.end of. All this "is sven good enough" talk in every other thread is beyond me. Just think of all the managers out of a job at present? Would you want any of them over Sven? Sven knows his stuff, let it be and move on from this shite! :sge:
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 I must admit although i had my reservations at first when SVEN took over (more because i felt he might leave the minute a big club came in for him than questioning his ability) but i have been really impressed every game ive been to since he took over Hull City at home 1-1 (brilliant first half, shocking 2nd half), Sheffield United at home 2-2 (same again - good start, tapered off) Derby County at Home 2-0 Win (bossed almost the entire game). Notts F***st at home 1-0 win (deserved to win). Away from home i have only seen the first half of the Ipswich game which was shocking, although obviously the game should have been called off. I do think SVEN has improved us without a doubt and with a couple of quality Jan signings and an improved away form i think we should move up the table during the 2nd half of the season. Come on you FOXES!!!! :sge:
Captain... Posted 20 December 2010 Posted 20 December 2010 Please explain to me how exactly you 'sign a captain'. You sign someone and give him the armband. Not rocket science, it has happened before, the captain doesn't have to be a long servant of the club. Of the current crop Wellens is probably the best candidate, but if you can bring in someone of the right stature and experience then I don't see any reason why not make them captain if they are the best person for the job. At first I thought Davies would be a good captain if we signed but now I'm not so sure. Recent example being Gareth Barry going to Manchester City and was instantly made captain.
accessory Posted 28 December 2010 Author Posted 28 December 2010 How many more appalling away performances must there be before the penny drops about this manager? He can't motivate or inspire. And he can't blame the snow this time..
