themotivator Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 DO IT! might stop them winning so many! im joking, really hope waggy gets another chance, because he hasn't been anything like as good as his potential yet.
Callabinho Posted 30 December 2010 Author Posted 30 December 2010 Sven should start Waggy against Hull, it's his chance to have a real go!. The problem is for Waggy that under Paolo his confidence took a battering. Speaking to someone to speaks to Waggy occasionally said that Sousa didn't want him and stuck him out on the wing constantly to put a team together. Waggy's confidence took a battering under Paolo and he is struggling to get it back. We know what Waggy can do and he needs a chance so Forget Howard for Hull if anything play 4-4-2. and stick Waggy up-top with Howard. He needs to rebuild his confidence and then Waggy will be back! If sven let him go i feel the fans would loose patience fast.
Babylon Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 He's said we can't play 4-4-2 as the midfielders we have aren't strong enough to play that way. So the choices are restructure our whole midfield, or find a striker that can play up top on his own, who can hold the ball up, is big, fast and strong and can score goals... They aren't cheap or easy to find, but probably easier than buying a new midfield. We've had three managers in six months, all of whom had completely different ways of playing and they all brought in their own players. Sven needs time to mould the team into what he wants.
teblin Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 I personally think Waggy is a little overated. He did decent last season but never worth the cash we paid be it £2 Million or £3 million. He does have ability but he doesn't do the simple thing well enough to play upfront on his own. He is always more bothered about wrestling with the CB than going to meet a ball to control it. I hope the lad proves me wrong here and starts scoring, but to me he's a bit of an expensive Ian Hume.
Corky Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Waghorn probably is a little over-priced, but that's not his fault, we were prepared to pay it. I don't think letting him go is the best option, he's shown glimpses of last season so far but Sven seems to prefer Vassell, Howard, Gallagher and even Bednar. Waghorn won't want to be fifth choice striker at this stage of his career.
ibbosuk Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 If that is right mate about Waggy going on loan to QPR then i'd have to start to question Sven. That would mean our 2 top goalscorers from last season playing for teams who are our rivals in this division. Yep, not in the least bit suprised, like I said yesterday in this Waghorn topic (My previous post) we cannot afford to have a 3million player sitting on the bench. You play him, or you sell him. :sge: SPEND SAYS " Not the player for me, and the lad needs football, he has had enough of warming benches"
Collymore Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 I thought Bruce did a fantastic job of talking his price up. From what I've seen of Waghorm so far this season he deserves not to be playing.
sdb Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Bloody hell, Waghorn was amazing last season, we all wanted him back. Now we've slightly over spent to get him and he's slightly under-performed and he's a piece of crap. The fact that the best/2nd best team in the league wants him says it all. He should be playing regularly for us and whilst i'm a big Sven fan, it's something he's doing wrong imo.

You're talking about people over exaggerating, but to say he was "amazing" last season when he was good and "slightly under performed" this season when he has been utter crap... and "slightly over spent"??? £3M In the current economic climate when the manager allegedly didn't even want him!
ithuriel Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 If he cant get a game with us at present then a loan move might be the best thing, if he recaptures his form he will get first team football and we can either bring him back or sell him.

I thought he was amazing last season. He didn't cost £3 mill either. And how many games has he played this season (for more than 10mins), in a sensible system, under a manager that has a scooby doo? Not many.
nickelbyfox Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Given the chance Waghorn couldn't do much worse than Bednar. Really would like to see him get a lil run in the team!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 I twould be quite stupid if we didnt play Waghorn at all, and leave him on the bench. I think he really needs to play in a 4-4-2 formation, but he is certainly better at playing the lone striker than Fryatt is. He played that role at Barnsley, he wasnt amazing but he put in a good shift. If we are going to stick with the current formation, no one can argue that having Dyer, Waghorn and Vassell as the front three wouldnt be dangerous with their pace. I do think we should at least give him a try, no he hasnt been all that good this season and can sometimes be greedy and shhot from stupid distances, but least he will contribute something which is more than Bednar will.

But not to somebody else in our league! Remember DJ last year!! League 1 on loan or nothing.
surrifox Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Right. Why would QPR go for him? They've got Mackie, Taarabt (Hes as good as a striker) Helguson, Hulse, Agyeman, Leon Clarke, and even Rowan Vine rotting around somewhere. They're loaded, surely they can find some better talent than Waghorn. Worncock has a thing about collecting strikers - at Sheff U he had about 10 on the books and would probably play at least 4 up front if he could

Colin is trying to disrupt the lad, as he knows once we get ourselves sorted in the transfer window and start playing 4-4-2, that Waghorn will come into his own, therefore making us the ony credible threat to QPRs league title winners!
1964FOX Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Waghorn is not happy being sat on the bench and has mentioned going to QPR or Derby.
WAGHORN IS A BLUE Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 i read in the paper that qpr want waghorn on loan to boost there promotion push. would this be good or bad for us if it happend?
Haydos Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 There's already a thread on this you complete dickwank! Go play in traffic .
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 would be a shocking move (unless your a QPR fan?)
themotivator Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 would be totally bemused if we let him go to another champ team after last years situation. seems odd that warnock would try it on unless he knew something we didnt.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Waggy should be played more, Wears his heart on his sleeve and trys is bollox off
Dan Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 If he went QPR I would actually guarantee for a fact he'd do better for them than us this year, happened too many times.
