Houdini Logic Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 So long as the money isn't used to fund another massive loan for someone. Otherwise we'll be on the slippery slope of selling off the family silver to pay for loans, which you are left with nothing at the end of. Yeah but the family silver was dusty and noone wanted to look at it. Our crown jewels may only be here temporarily, but at least while they're here they will at least temp people to come in and have a look and think we're a real family for once.

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 If the price is right get rid. There are far better players out there than Richie Wellens. Great on his day but all too often distinctly average.
StanSP Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 If the price is right get rid. There are far better players out there than Richie Wellens. Great on his day but all too often distinctly average. Have you actually seen him recently? He's been all but distinctly average recently.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Have you actually seen him recently? He's been all but distinctly average recently. The last time I saw him was at Millwall where he was distinctly average. So yes.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 If we can get good money for wellens (a profit) as a 30 year old, then why not? Yes he is our player of the season probably Nail on the head, that's exactly why not. Our midfield three look settled and absolutely lethal at the moment. Don't want to disrupt it too much.
fosseman Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Sell him quick if he wants to go. He's only been good in recent games.

Len Finsbury Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 It's not as if we're in the financial position where we want to sell and can therefore reject any bid that comes in for him assuming Sven wants to keep him for this season. Let's face it, in the event of a promotion, the team will look considerably different to that which we have now so to look at Wellens as long term is a little misguided. Of course, should he want to go, and if I was a 30 year old professional footballer who's never played in the Premier League, I probably would want to go for guaranteed top flight football rather than the hope that we'll be there next year.
Greg2607 Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Rather Wellens Than King!!!.........King would be a massive loss IMO
Drift Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Can't see it being that appealing to Wellens. Sure, it's (a chance of, if he's not on the bench) Premiership football for at least a couple of months. But they're a mediocre Premiership club with risk of going down as things stand. Not far to drive though I suppose.

lestajigs Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Rather Wellens Than King!!!.........King would be a massive loss IMO And wellens wouldn't be a massive loss????
StanSP Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 And wellens wouldn't be a massive loss???? Don't think he's saying that. Think he's saying that King would be much more of a massive loss than Wellens, and he's right.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 And wellens wouldn't be a massive loss???? Exactly. He wouldn't be a massive loss. If you think he is the integral part of the future of Leicester under Sven, you are an even bigger muppet than I thought.
sdb Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Wouldn't sell for less than £2mill, and then if that were to happen, at least we've made a very decent profit. And whilst i'd hate to lose him, we could replace him with that kind of money. He's a very good Championship player imo, Prem...not so sure.
artursteppe Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 I don't mind if he goes. Often poor in first half of matches, sometimes lazy closing players down, sometimes excellent ( as he was second half against Man City ). I would like a class defensive midfielder, then move Yuki into Wellens slot to close down opposition players nearer their goal. That would provide a much better all round balance than we have now. I don't know ( judging his performance on Sunday ) whether Vieira would be good enough now, or does Michael Johnson play that role?
s11nny Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 hope he doesnt go. great player for us imo. however it could also be a good bit of buisness for us considering his age. if this is true i dont think he will be able to resist moving up to the prem...something he must have been dreaming of since he left old trafford, this may be his only chance.

No chance of getting £2 mill for him, he only has 18 months left on his contract so they'll be trying to pick him up on the cheap. Birmingham seem to see him as a cheaper option than Adam so it depends on whether thay are successful or not whilst bidding for him as to whether they bid for Wellens

Oh shut up zin zip singh hop, wellens has been one off our best players AGAIN this season, no he's not the future, but at the min it's about getting to the premier in these two seasons, and if you don't think that's a massive loss your the mug not me!! ****
