Wellens to Brum

Probably the most consistent performer this season and would be gutted to see him go. One of the only aggressive players in our team and is never afraid to get stuck in. Absolutely love the way he buys freekicks too, i knew when he got near to the box on saturday that he was going to go down attempting to get a freekick or peno. Just a shame he was just outside the box. Would be gutted to see him go.

Oh and that video is amazing :crylaugh:

I don't know how much b'ham want him, but I rekon he'll go if they're serious about this, one -guaranteed- last shot at the big time at 30, when he is only going to get slower is the way I see it for him.

I'd be really disapointed if he left but he is not irreplaceable.

Having seen how well our midfield and wellens partiularly have been playing recently, I think it would do us no favours and in our situation we don't need to sell anyone.

Unless the offer is way above what we want, it's a no brainer for me. Keep what's been successful, and if we don't get promoted come summer and he still wants to go, let him then bring in someone new in much beter circumstances.

short video i made to try and persuade wellens not to go!

Oh my God! This really did make me laugh out loud! A lovely sentiment but what the fook?! lol

Edit - I've watched it 5 times now and i'm still pissing myself! What a tune!

Sensational video.

I think Wellens has flourished under Sven, but if we get a good money offer for him then we'd have to consider.

Initial look at the report makes me feel this is more of a maybe in that, if Birmingham don't get other targets they will look at Richie. Mind you, I reckon Alec McLeish will be out of a job after the second leg of the Carling Cup so maybe any deal will die with that?

Be gutted if we lose Wellens, but my disappointment will be tempered by the eternal memory of that mercurial video.

Top work :worship:

I wouldn't begrudge Wellens a move, thats assuming there is any truth in it. He's been around the lower leagues a long time waiting for a chance, up to him if he thinks he can get there with us or perhaps more importantly, if we did get there would there be massive changes meaning he'll be replaced.

Good enough player to have but I'd surpised if Brum were seriously interested.

And wellens wouldn't be a massive loss????

I'm saying that KIng would be a bigger loss than wellens. I agree that it would be a bad thing to lose any of our 1st team players, BUT if we HAD to choose between losing wellens, or losing Andy king, I'd CHOOSE to lose wellens.

he is a player for now and not a player for the future. he has maybe 2-3 seasons left in him whereas king effectively has his whole career, scores goals from midfield and has the ability to develop into a gerrardesque player.

IF Wellens had been good enough to play consistenly in the premier league then he would have spent more of his career there......

I'd be building the team around players like king. (until his big money move to a top 5 premier league side)!!

Dyer Lazy!!! :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:

Yes.

I don't mean when he's got the ball. I mean when he hasn't and he doesn't make a tackle. Also, if you study him throughout the game its like he is switched off then he sees the ball and thinks 'oh the ball is here'.

Abe tried to keep with him. Wellens made no move! There is a huge difference. Wellens can be lazy, and that is a fact ( oh and before all his brothers and lovers start jumping up and down ) yes he can be workmanlike from time to time. He IS inconsistent, fact!

That isn't a fact. Wellens isn't inconsistant.

And I have no view on the goal because yes he should have closed the man and ball down but a lack of communication may have been a problem. He might have been in two minds. Its easy for us to say it now, but at that quick time, the player behind Wellens could have told him to go and close down the ball.

If you look at the goal again Wellens looks over his shoulder first. This tells me that he sees the danger of where the ball is going to placed but isn't sure whether to close it down -- Communication could have been better, maybe.

That is an option.

King will never play consistant in the Prem or develop into a Steven Gerrard type player. He doesn't get involved enough. He isn't aggressive enough and he often goes missing. He scores goals though which makes him a fans favourite. Where as Wellens doesn't so people don't see the other side of his game. (Wellens isn't the mould to score all the time).

Wellens is our most influential player - strong minded, week in week out never dissapoints! He's so UNDER-rated, as was underlined against Man City - as without him i don't think we'd have got the same result.

I've heard the vocal but buggered if I can remember from where?

The vocal sounds very similar to that Gypsy Woman song - "But she's homeless, she's homeless, La de de la da da, la de de la da da"

Cracked me up - good effort hbk yout!

Oh thanks so much for being willing to point out when I'm being pathetic.

I have problems with the love fests or bum fests (as others call it) that many on here have with players.

I have a problem with that then being taken too far and people being abused because they hold a different opinion.

And I haven't had my posts deleted or my my wrists slapped like some on here, and I assume you did as your posts and you disappeared the other week.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I don't agree with a lot of yours but that isn't what makes it personal, it's you getting slightly hysterical in your response to others that makes it personal.

I hope for your sake that you don't act like this when down the pub.

Anyway I'm sure you disagree and will soon let me know.

I support my team just as much as you do, I'm just not as precious about the players as you, why I don't even make friends with them on Facebook.

Everytime I make a comment, no matter how reasonable it is, you take the piss. In fact the comment about making friends with a player on facebook constantly comes up from you. Why? Oh yeh, it's because I cut players slack when they deserve it, i don't get on their back after one mistake or bad performance.

So get off your high horse and pipe down. You're as disagreeable as anyone else.
