Thracian Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Using your logic, Howard would also make a great centre back. Rooney's not scoring at the moment, maybe Sir Alex should start using him as a CB. Why not just buy a proven centre back who's played in that position throughout their career? {/quote] Quite where "my logic" suggests Howard would make a centre-back I don't know! Since when has Howard had speed, mobility and been an especially good passer? As for "buying" a centre-back, how many more established centre-backs do we try? Or do we need to buy when Heskey would perhaps do better than any of them.
Thracian Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Just for the record I think Heskey could play at CB, he's done it on occasions in the past, Dion Dublin did it and our own Walshy did both jobs with success. Whether we'd want him to play there especially on the wages he's on is another matter. As for wanting Heskey because he creates a load of chances, we already create loads of chances we need someone who can put them away. As I said earlier we don't need him now we have Yakubu. Trouble is Webbo we're still conceding too many goals and too easily. If we could stem the flow then we certainly have the attackers now to achieve promotion. Heskey might well be able to help in both departments.
Finnegan Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Good defending is largely positional sense, why on Earth would you want to stick someone who's played almost his entire career as a target man at the heart of your back four, purely because he can head and he's not quite a donkey? Madness. We could pick up a much better defender than Heskey for much cheaper than Heskey would cost us.
Greg2607 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 all of this argument about heskey as a CB is pointless. He is not coming here. villa see him as integral. end of debate about whether he would be a good CB at LCFC!
Christoph Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 think Greg has hit the nail on the head tbh. Though I dont recall Heskey being on Villa's bench yesterday?

As for the cheaper but "much better defender" you mention, what's keeping us? Cos from what I can see he's desperately needed, whoever he is!

cambridgefox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Dion did it occasionally in his prime as well though. Just because Heskey is strong, fairly quick and decent in the air doesn't mean his reading of the game, positional sense, tackling, marking, starting moves from the back, etc will also be good. It might work, but it'd be a complete gamble. One that I doubt he'd fancy! Correct re Dion.when he started his career at Cambridge he was a defender, but became a striker by chance, they played Peterboring in a local Derby, and because of injuries went upfront,i beleve he scored 4 goals at London road in a 5-1 drubbing.( 1 2 123 1234 5-1,then followed by hung like a donkey)
The People's Hero Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I see Some things never change. Heskey to play at centre back. Dear me. Does the one about a team full of Levi porters being unbeatable still do the rounds?
jonw88 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I see Some things never change. Heskey to play at centre back. Dear me. Does the one about a team full of Levi porters being unbeatable still do the rounds? We all dream of a team of Barry Hayles! Ahhh those were the days... when our biggest loan signing were Luigi Glombard Direct and Jason Jarrett. Times have changed, would love to see Emile back but not sure how he'd fit in with Yakubu too. Never gonna happen anyway.
Ric Flair Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Ivanhoe wasn't even on the bench yesterday. He's coming back.
mmarkie Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Ivanhoe wasn't even on the bench yesterday. He's coming back. Might be down to the fact he was suspended mate.
Collymore Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Ivanhoe wasn't even on the bench yesterday. He's coming back. Playing the yak, bamba and heskey on the same pitch would damage the undersoil heating system, fact.

Guest Bilo Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Without wanting to sound all Blue Brett, imagine being a white bloke getting into the team bath with Bamba (confirmed 40 inch cock), Yakubu and Ivanhoe. You wouldn't half feel inferior.

body102 Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 Rumours flying around again today , supposedly in the daily express is that sven is lining up a 2 mill bid for emile heskey in the summer , sorry have do not have a link and didn't want to post a new topic and get slated for yet another emile heskey topic . Personally i would love to see Bruno back as i think he would be outstanding in the championship , he still has pace and power and would play with enthusiasm and passion for the club he supports and actually helped save , as he did in his first stint . Heskey is a leicester legend and always will be

MrSpaM Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 I'd trust Heskey to do a job for us more than Yakubu lets put it that way. If i had to choose between them both at the end of the season, it'd be Heskey every day of the week.
