Increase East Stand capacity

I'm against this extension as we are no Leeds, ie, almost sell out every week nevermind the opposition they're playing and due to the location of the ground, the traffic will be terrible (on top of how really bad it is now especially after games)

I believe Elland Road holds just over 40000 and there average is about 26000 in the league so they don't really sell out at all.

I do however agree with what you say, it seems silly to expand something that you don't actually own and will have little or no chance of filling

Strange to spend a fortune increasing the value of a home you don't even own...

Not that I'm not for it, but that bit is a tad odd

Perhaps they intend to buy it :dunno:

Yes, currently it will leave us with an extra 10,000 empty seats.

We should wait until we're established in the Premier League first.

The

Could solve the standing next to away fans problem, sitters upstairs, standers downstairs and no need to swap the kop with the family end.

Having said that surely any addition to the East Stand would mess up the away corner anyway?

They're going to solve it by lowering the roof to the extent that you cannot actually stand up, and paint the ceiling the colour of the sky to prevent claustrophobia

An increased stadium capacity with our average attendance is for nothing other than egotistical purposes.

Reduce the price, fill the ground, build an atmosphere and go from there.

Is this a joke?

Have people not noticed we aren't even coming close to selling out at the minute and that isnt going to change premiership or not as people don't have the money that they did ten years ago.

You'll be telling me they are whacking an extension on the Ricoh next.

I don't think Top will care about that though, unless he could get more money out of it being full. I was just wondering if it was being planned because we heard these rumours a while back.

If ticket prices were what they are now in the Premeriship I think we'd be selling out every week. If the owners thought they could make more money with an almost full bigger stadium it may actually benefit us.

Stop the 'we don't fill the ground at the minute' talk, I know we don't, but take into consideration if we made the Premier League, more people will want to watch Leicester play the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. (Then, the 'where were you when we were s*it?' will most probably be heared constantly ).

Whether people buy match tickets, or season tickets, the owners will be making more through more ticket sales so if they do think the ground needs expanding, I think the owners will just go through with it because we have all seen they have backed their opinions and comments so far.

The ground will look better as well in my opinion, as it all won't be level. Hull's ground looks nice from the inside, and one of the stands has two tiers I think.

i think it is brilliant news personally if and when we get back to the premier league, last time we were there we averaged 30'000 crowds, with an extra 2'000 say away spaces and sensible ticket prices i think we could average around 35'000 in the prem :dunno:

It could look better but I don't want it to look like Hull's stadium. I think these modern designs (with the semi-circle shaped tiers) look awful. In fact looking at some of the old stands, like the double tiered one at Oakwell, they are in fact smaller than our East Stand now but look bigger and far more impressive just because of the design. If it did happen (and I'm not necessarily saying I would want it to until we were confident that we would be getting 35K most weeks) then I would just want another rectangular tier on top of the current one, I think it'd look really nice.

Yes, of course. I like older grounds better as well, especially grounds which have different sized stands, like Leeds, Barnsley (as mentioned), Burnley, Forest etc

I was just saying about Hull, because our ground is fairly round (it is, isn't it?).

I just mean the upper tier shape, not the bowl of the stadium.

I don't really think there's anything wrong with the 'bowl' shape, but if we had another tier I think it'd look far better with a seperate, straight roof and a rectangular shape, as opposed to the top tier on that stand, if you see what I mean?

Stupid idea. It'd be empty and think about the atmosphere. You won't be able to hear anything from the fans up top.

I KNEW there was a reason for Anfield being so quiet!

Just had a go on paint, this is the sort of thing I mean:

I know it's the West Stand but you know what I mean

Comparing with Kop

Carling stand mix!

I know I know, but you get the idea lol

Yeah, those are good. It would look good in my opinion.

If it did happen, I'd like to see the East Stand be straight as it is in the image, so that the roof of the increased East Stand would not slide down to join with the roof of the Kop because that would look like Pride Park which I don't really like.

Good images though, I think it would look good.

Yes, completely agree. I think the key to it looking impressive is to make it stand out from the other stands, having the roof join with the other stands would make it blend in more and it would look a bit weird.

If done right it would certainly make the ground a bit different to some bowl grounds, would be good for the prem too since all the good time charlies and henriettas will return for that and getting tickets for the big teams will become harder if it remains as is.

Certainly agree that an extra tier would improve the look of our stadium. Though I certainly can;t see it being the same size added again.

I picture it being more of a 'gallery' type tier for want of a better word.
